Good luck wreck!

Back to balancing wfh and childcare today :( Will go to allotment later and get my maincrop potatoes in. Need to do a B&Q order for gardening supplies. Still haven't heard back from local garden centre about order I placed almost 2 weeks ago.

Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 20/04/2020 10:08

Booked a delivery slot for Sunday. Had a choice of Thursday, Saturday or Sunday so they seem to be increasing in number.

NoWordForFluffy · 20/04/2020 10:25

They aren't round here! I think it's our demographic though. I'm in a seaside retirement town so we'll have loads of shielding people getting priority!

NerosFiddle · 20/04/2020 12:27

I stayed up until midnight last night trying to get a Tesco slot for 3 weeks time but didn't manage it.

It's another beautiful day here. Sunny but a wee bit windy. Perfect drying weather.

WreckTangled · 20/04/2020 14:55

Work done. Not much for us to do at the moment really. Just waiting for the dc to come out of school.

NoWordForFluffy · 20/04/2020 16:05

Did the kids enjoy school, Wreck?

It seems mad to drag you out for bugger all reason really, doesn't it?

We've got a load dry in a couple of hours, Neros. Perfect day for it.

I've now got 18 mini corn and 10 normal corn seedlings coming through. 🌽 🌾 Exciting! My beans are slow, as are my courgettes and squash, but they were last year too.

Neros, I failed for days on end to get a slot. It was disheartening! I'll need to try again soon for my parents. Sigh.

DH has been up a ladder Shock for an ex Building Inspector he's shit at heights, including more than 2 rungs and cleaned the (ground floor) gutters, soffits and fascias, the garage door and the living room window.
He had to engage in some social distancing with NDN Smile who was obviously skiving bored.
He then had to have a little nap Hmm before lunch, and another after lunch Confused
I've mostly scrubbed and cleaned stuff, done some (more) laundry, chased, poked and fed the cats Grin and done some tidying of the shed he'll never find anything again Wink

WreckTangled · 20/04/2020 18:47

Yes they did thank you. It helps that the weather is nice and they have the best playground out the back of the classrooms. Wonder if they'll open up the pool if this carries on until summer.

I'm exhausted now!

What an amazing playground wreck!

Found a slow worm at the allotment today, made me so happy as I hadn't seen one in years. Dug over a new bed for my purple maincrop potatoes which are now in so now relaxing in the bath.

Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 20/04/2020 20:45

Forgot the pic!

CrazyBaubles · 20/04/2020 22:13

most we get slow worm in the top tier of our garden. They give me the creeps, they come out and sunbath on a hot day. They're protected too so we're not allowed to use weed killer etc.

Wreck the school looks good.

Fluffy you have such green fingers!

I made myself be productive today. I've cleaned my hallway - it has an old fashioned mosaic tiled floor and a half wood half glass door a meter inside from the front door - glass panels in the door, on both sides and above. I've cleaned the door and all the glass, the skirting boards and scrubbed the tiles floor with a brush. It looks lovely now.

Have also been crocheting daffodils for my mum and her friends. They all want one ready for their friends funeral as it was her favourite flower. Began with making 3 but my mum sent people a picture and now I have requests for 10. I don't mind, it's keeping me busy and the lady who passed away was lovely.

DHs relative has tested positive - results came in today. They're basically being monitored in the care home with a plan to move to hospital if symptoms get worse.

NoWordForFluffy · 21/04/2020 06:48

Morning!

I'm not sleeping amazingly well at the moment. I'm not sure why.

Ah well, I need to get up and moving as I'm off to Sainsbury's for 8 and then the allotment afterwards. I really need to be rid of the grassy bit!

I've not seen any slow worms on my plot. I'd love to though.

We have a pheasant who wanders round the place, but that's about it!

I hope your DH's relative recovers, Crazy.

Are your mum's friends going to the funeral? I wouldn't think they're allowed as it's close family only here. I bet the daffodils are lovely though.

Wreck, the school looks ace! I went to a little village school and loved it!

Firefly, DS talks loads in his sleep. Usually arguments with DD! 😂😂

Your spuds sound great, Most.

Mrs, enjoy your day off!

OP posts:
pussycatinboots · 21/04/2020 07:36

why I did reply yesterday, but it's not here Confused admittedly I had a cats arse in my face at the time, so may have pressed the wrong key Blush I'm glad you have a break to look forward to.
Mrs enjoy your day off.
fluffy enjoy your digging.
Crazy Flowers
Wreck My first school didn't have more than a playground, split in half with railings to keep the boys and girls apart, which was a bit of a problem as most of my mates were boys Grin

I love these tales of your kids talking in their sleep. "What the jiggins" Grin

My massive order of birdseed arrived yesterday evening Confused they're obvs v busy at DPD and doing overtime to keep up with deliveries. DH was a bit surprised by the amount/weight Blush but it should keep us in blackbirds they're nesting, the male is collecting worms for a year Smile

There's something wrong with my spuds. They're not behaving like they did last yr. I may have to gently excavate around them and see what's going on.

WreckTangled · 21/04/2020 07:43

Morning! Just waiting for my colleague in the car park. The dc were excited for school today which I'm pleased about. Really need a wee.

NoWordForFluffy · 21/04/2020 08:50

Boots, in what way are your spuds not behaving? I'd let them be to be honest. Be patient says the most inpatient person ever!.

You were busy yesterday, did you peak? What's left for today?

How much birdseed is it? The birds at the allotment eat loads!

I've been and shopped at Sainsbury's (they've reinstated their extra point offers, so I like to go and sweep the shop of those!) and will go to the allotment in a bit.

Wreck, it's good the kids are excited. I bet it's way more fun at school than at home! After all, they're the professionals and have the resources!

OP posts:
FireflyGirl · 21/04/2020 10:03

Their school looks lovely, Wreck.

There's no sign of my early spuds that I planted first, but the main season crop are starting to peek through. I want to get the strawberry plants in today, and dig the trench for the peas I've got growing in the guttering in the greenhouse. It'll be my first time trying to grow them like that, so we'll see how they do.

Fingers crossed for your DH's relative, Crazy Flowers

Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 21/04/2020 10:15

Our garden furniture has arrived so DH and I are bickering away as we build it Grin

Christmas countdown 2020: Lockdown edition (thread 4)
CrazyBaubles · 21/04/2020 10:38

Fluffy They aren't allowed to attend the funeral, only the lady's sister and 2 daughters will go but the church is allowing them to stream it via their group whatsapp chat so they can all watch from home - they want the daffodils as a way of showing respect I think.

Thank you for the good wishes for DHs relative. At the moment the symptoms are mild so we're hoping they're ok.

DH is going to strim the mad part of the garden today and keeps trying to get me involved as his assistant. I don't want anything to do with it because it's got guaranteed argument written all over it (sound familiar most?) Grin

TheWoollybacksWife · 21/04/2020 11:24

Fluffy I managed 11 hours sleep yesterday which is utterly unprecedented for me. I don't think I've slept that long since I had kids. I did get up at 6:30 yesterday and was very busy preparing DD2's birthday lunch. So I was in the land of nod just after 10 and woke up at about 9:15 this morning.

Wreck that school looks fantastic. No wonder your DC were eager to go again. It takes so much of the worry away if they are happy and safe.

Crazy daffodil brooches sound fabulous. What a lovely memento to keep too.

MrsMad enjoy your day off.

Hope everyone else is ok. I'm off to do my crochet. Finishing a baby blanket for Woolly Hugs then I'm hoping to get cracking on some bits and bobs in red, white and blue. Nothing has been said so far but the residents association are likely to ask people to decorate the outside of the house for VE Day. There have been various requests on the FB page and I've put 2 and 2 together. We were planning a street party so I'm sure it won't go unmarked.

pussycatinboots · 21/04/2020 13:10

fluffy I've done what I always do with the spuds, but they've not grown at all. I dug one pot up, well, not dug, just stuck my hand in and pulled out a soggy manky spud Sad so for some reason they've rotted in the compost Confused bloody expensive seed ones too!
It can't be the compost that's caused it as the carrots are already through and they were sown on the same day from the same sack(s) of compost.
I've cleared all the pots of manky spuds now and have a back-up lot in an egg box. These are from Morrisons Grin

DH aches today, but he did a lot of climbing yesterday. My neck is killing me. Lugging 50kg of birdseed and 8kg of birdy raisins around the side of the house finished it off!

Firefly I miss my old strawberry plants. Good luck with the gutter experiment.

most happy days Smile

Crazy You are too busy and important to get involved Grin Tell him you're preparing the hero a magnificent banquet instead Wink

Wreck hope you had your wee...

Woolly nice tea cosy Grin

I can hear snoring from the conservatory again at least I know where he is!

FireflyGirl · 21/04/2020 13:11

Ooh, Woolly, I might have a root through my fabric stash (mostly threadbare bedding and clothes) and see if there's anything I can use to knock up some bunting. If I can get motivated...

Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 21/04/2020 14:13

What a lovely sleep Woolly!

Gutting about the potatoes boots :(

The sofa is up! Ignore the grumpy man on it Grin

Mrs I'll take a wee slice of lemon pie if it's going spare Grin.

I managed to get 2 Tesco slots. They're not until the last 2 weeks in May but still. At least that's one thing less to worry about.

Boots wrap a warm towel round your neck.

Woolly that looks a lovely afternoon tea

I haven't got the energy to do anything today. I think it'll have to just be a quiche and salad for dinner tonight.
