Here we go, new thread.

We've been very chatty this month! 😁

Firefly The BBC weather forecast is consistently inaccurate for us. It's supposed to have been raining here for about 3hrs - it's dry as a bone! But then we do have a mad drummer Hmm

Crazy Flowers

FireflyGirl · 17/04/2020 21:26

Flowers Crazy, sorry, I completely skipped over the first part of your message! Fingers crossed for your relative.

Tesco slot acquired for my parents on 8 May. I can go to sleep now!

I've gone back to doing 'anything but blue' on the cross stitch tonight as it was boring me (and it's faffy due to the pattern so I have to count really carefully). I'm getting there now!

Eugh I've been awake for hours. Might as well get up, maybe I'll have an afternoon nap.

Fluffy I'm pleased you've got a delivery for your parents.

NoWordForFluffy · 18/04/2020 07:26

It's only C&C, Wreck. They don't need enough for a delivery and I didn't even look to see if there were slots available. It's no bother for them to get somebody to collect it for them, thankfully. Anything that saves dad a trip or two to the shops is good!

Was your brain in overdrive, hence not sleeping?

OP posts:
WreckTangled · 18/04/2020 07:30

Ah well c&c is just as good. Not sure just woke up and couldn't get back to sleep. DH is about to go to work I'm just so bored yet have no motivation to do anything!

WreckTangled · 18/04/2020 07:32

Actually I'm quiz master of the family quiz tonight so I need to prepare for that.

Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 18/04/2020 07:33

Hope your relative is ok crazy Flowers

I always go for a couple of sides rather than a main curry fluffy so I had Aloo Gobi and Matter Paneer and it was very tasty :)

Had a good amount of rain yesterday so don't have to water the garden today which makes a nice change.

Busy working out the logistics of DS going to school. Pretty sure we qualify for free transport as the school is over 2 miles away but is our catchment school so going to apply for that. The parents on the school group have reassured me that the escort on the bus is very lovely. Will make the logistics so much easier if we do qualify. Seems crazy the thought of putting my baby on the bus but it is a private bus with an escort so as a friend pointed out not really very different from sending to an after school club and it's only for 10 minutes as we are only just over 2 miles away.

NoWordForFluffy · 18/04/2020 07:38

Wreck, the quiz sounds fun! If we did one it would just end in an argument / tears!

Most, I reckon your DS will love the bus! They're fiercely independent once they go to school. Though you won't get to know the other parents at the school gates which can be handy!

No rain here and none forecast for at least a week (Met Office AND the BBC).

OP posts:
Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 18/04/2020 07:40

That's true fluffy although I think I will pick him up on a Friday as I finish work earlier so could make it work logistically. At least then I would see them once a week :)

WreckTangled · 18/04/2020 07:41

Most I usually go for a stater and a side. Re the school bus my two get a bus to school due to distance too. Word of warning with both of them I had a nightmare getting them on it because apparently they don't qualify until they're 5 HmmAngry they kept saying to me that they had to prioritise children who were actually eligible for the school bus first and, once I had convinced them to send me the paperwork, told me that if someone else who was eligible needed the bus place then mine would have to give up their place. This is despite the fact that there's only five on the mini bus anyway ffs. Complete jobs worth there. As you can tell I'm still angry about it almost three years later Grin mine don't have a chaperone but their driver is lovely and they both settled into reception much better being on the bus because they didn't have the stress of me leaving them at the door every morning.

Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 18/04/2020 07:41

Still raining here but due to stop in an hour or two so we will have had 24 hours of rain :)

FireflyGirl · 18/04/2020 09:03

I am rather jealous of your rain!

DS woke up, asked if it was the weekend and then insisted we watch TV in bed. Who am I to argue? Grin

Most I do every drop off and 3 pick-ups, but only really started chatting with the other parents after sending invitations to DS's birthday party.

My friend has been doing us a quiz every Saturday. I think I've been second every time, which isn't bad considering they all do it as a group with partners/kids and I am by myself as DS is asleep and DH is playing with his own friends. The teen/tweens are loads better than me at celebrities!

PJMasksGhekko · 18/04/2020 10:08

Pouring here this morning, 2 more shifts at work then I'm off next weekend!!

NerosFiddle · 18/04/2020 10:12

Morning.

I wish we had rain too. It's just selfish if me though because I don't like sun or heat. I'm a real grinch Grin.

Crazy sorry to hear about your relative.

The planner has a Christmas card list for 5 years, gift ideas, receipts, present planning with a budget section, gifts received, notes and inspiration, recipe planning, festive feasts, cooking schedule, shopping list, calendar and finally a checklist. It should last about 5 years.

NoWordForFluffy · 18/04/2020 10:13

Our weather is gloomy AND bright at the same time. I thought it was going to rain, but I think I was wrong now! Sigh. I want rain!

Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 18/04/2020 10:14

Sounds amazing Nero!

Still raining here, sucks that all our exciting plans for the day have gone out of the window Grin

DH and I just blitz cleaned the house, so much nicer to relax in a newly cleaned house :)

TheWoollybacksWife · 18/04/2020 10:39

The rain last night/early morning was very loud and it's still going. Someone on DS's karate zoom is in their conservatory and can't hear because of the rain on the roof.

My housekeeping standards have fallen. My right shoulder is freezing now so I can't lift or push the hoover that's my excuses and I'm sticking to it plus every room I try to clean seems to have someone in it at all times. I can do laundry, clean bathrooms and people seem to disappear when the washing up needs doing but that's all I seem to be keeping on top of.

Crazy sorry to hear about your relative.

Fluffy great news about the C&C slot. Asda seem to have gone back to showing more than a week at a time. I'm shopping between Asda and Tesco currently. Apart from yeast things seem to be back in stock although apparently fizzy drinks are the current casualties. I got a 4kg bag of bread flour delivered earlier this week (Gartur Stitch Farm) so that will do for some time. I'm working my way through my Brexit stocks of tins, packets and jars so I hope there'll be an opportunity to restock before the next shitstorm happens.

DS seems much more like his old self now he's got the routine of his school day back again. He had 6 lessons yesterday including a live art lesson which he thought was hilarious. He's grumpy right now but that's karate related 🤣

WreckTangled · 18/04/2020 10:40

I notice that woolly even though it still says only 7 days in advance

NoWordForFluffy · 18/04/2020 12:58

I've cleaned the bathroom, utility room and kitchen (plus dining room woodwork). That gives me my activity target for today!

We had a sprinkling of rain which was pointless. It wasn't even a shower!

I'm glad DS seems happier, Woolly. Kids do love routine.

My mum seemed happy that I'd sorted a shop for them. The £25 minimum suits them for C&C as a top up.

Woolly, is that the shoulder you had the op on? Will you need another? I feel your pain as my shoulder still aches after hard work (digging) and is quite clicky now too.

I'm psyching myself up to sort Lego. I'm dreading it!

I ordered a 500g bag of yeast from eBay. It worked out about the same price as the sachets from the supermarkets (not as cheap as Aldi, but not a rip off either).

I might have killed the cucumber plants by not fleecing them. Hopefully not, time will tell!

pussycatinboots · 18/04/2020 13:24

Been raining here since we went to bed Grin I luffs a grey day.
NDN still washed his car Hmm even though it got a free rinse v strange family
Ordered some bird seed - let's see if it arrives...it wasn't cheap!

Chased the cats around for a while, then gave them a tin of tuna as it's weekend, apparently they're now unconscious on the spare bed Grin

Mrsmadevans · 18/04/2020 16:04

Afternoon everyone Smile
Got up early at 7, been to Asda Brynmawr for Mum's C&C order , not as bad as last Friday thankfully only about 50 waiting. Managed to get everything on there except biscuits, they even had eggs and dishwashing tablets Wreck Grin
Did you see the final of Masterchef, l am so glad Thomas won he really was such a great cook . His food looked delicious Smile
Crazy am so sorry to hear your news, very worrying for your Dh family Flowers
It just seems like there is no let up yet , l know they keep clucking on about the trend going down but l can't wait for a really positive let up for everyone.
Fluffy well done on sourcing a slot for your Parents. l bet they are so relieved Smile Yay to all the cleaning & sorting , hope your cucs are ok Smile I reckon Bob WILL be building a new patio too! Grin
'And yes, you can add BP to plain flour so it's essentially SR.' thank you m'dear will be needing to do this in the next couple of weeks Smile
Boot it's rained most of the night and day here, so grey, you would love it here Grin Dh just told me the rain is not the same as a shampooing done by his own fair hand Grin l almost want him to wash my hair Grin
Woolly well done on the flour shop & don't worry re the housekeeping , rest your sore shoulder Flowers
Most the weather is dire isn't it , we have got the heating on it's so cold!
PJ well done nearly finished yay!

CrazyBaubles · 18/04/2020 16:53

Thank you for all the kind thoughts about DHs relative. It's such a hard situation, in an ideal world they'd he collected and kept isolated in their house which is nearby and empty, with minimal contact with other people but we obviously aren't allowed to move them so they're in a room in a care home with staff members coming in and out.

Neros Your planner sounds amazing. I'm going to give in and buy one at some point (I have a soft spot for the Cath Kidston one).

Wreck We definitely wouldn't have a quiz here. ILs would end up arguing and my family would think I was trying to make them feel stupid.

It's been raining almost non stop here and it's cooled right down. I've been to the pharmacy, hoovered my whole house, mopped downstairs and scrubbed marks on the bedroom carpet. We're going to shampoo it tomorrow and hope it comes up ok (the washing is long overdue).

PJMasksGhekko · 18/04/2020 20:37

So we have a confirmed case with a member of staff, only had a high temp and feeling very very tired, it's getting closer and I don't like it Sad

Hope everyone is ok x

Oops. Another late night. Not good. I need to re-jig my body clock!

PJ, that's concerning. Do you work with her much? It sounds like it may be a mild case, thankfully.

I'm jealous of the rain. Bugger all here and still none forecast.

I'm on the home straight with the cross stitch now. Just a load of different blues to do now!
