Look what arrived today. I'm probably a bit too excited about it

Christmas countdown 2020: Lockdown edition (thread 4)
PJMasksGhekko · 16/04/2020 13:46

I'm just back from Asda, it's not too bad, not many crisps or eggs etc but I got what I needed, including wine Grin

WreckTangled · 16/04/2020 13:50

Neros that makes me happy!

It feels good to have food in doesn't it PJ?!

pussycatinboots · 16/04/2020 14:43

I'm bored.

WreckTangled · 16/04/2020 14:46

Me too. Ds has just out Big Hero 6 on which is fine by me as I quite like to. Dd is watching tv in my room. Just can't be bothered at the moment. I have dusted the tv unit and dds keyboard, oh and hoovered downstairs. That's enough for one day Grin

NoWordForFluffy · 16/04/2020 14:53

I'm in the bath after returning from the allotment, which was hot, sweaty, work! I dug another strip over and then re-dug part of another bit as it has weeds on it. I'm tired.

DH is collecting our shopping and the kids are playing outside. I'd better hurry before they decide to kill each other!

OP posts:
TheWoollybacksWife · 16/04/2020 15:28

I definitely feel better with a full fridge and cupboards. I've got a click and collect from Tesco on Sunday and I've got a bit of spare capacity (12-15 items) if you need anything for your parents Fluffy plus DD2 can get (mostly frozen) stuff from work if required. PM me if I can help.

What a relief Most. Will he start with any friends?

DS was back at school today. 5 out of 6 lessons with 4 out of the 5 taught in person via Teams. He's got a fairly comprehensive timetable to be fair to the school. I think they've shelved homework though (thank God) and there may be a bit of artistic license applied for DT and Art. The only thing not on the timetable is PE which is understandable but it's the one thing he could do with as he's looking a bit pasty.

pussycatinboots · 16/04/2020 16:28

Woolly academically that sounds fab! Could you get a swingball or something similar that he could bash away at in the garden? Just to keep him outside active Smile

I went to the shed and dug out the Miracle Grow, so the azaleas, camellias, rhododendron and the roses have all had a "dose"...next one due in a couple of wks. I sat in the sun for a bit with Wine and thought of all the things I'd missed so far - basically it came down to winning the league/open top bus shamelessly proclaiming the brilliance of St Jurgen Halo and the Masters at Augusta, oh, and maybe a bit of pointless shopping.
I may have to buy different stuff next wk to top up the fridge n freezer, if it stays warm...more salad etc. and more Magnums raspberry Grin
Can't get motivated to sew or knit. Dunno why...thoughts from my fellow crafty inmates?
fluffy it must be at least 4yrs since i last had a bath what is that awful smell GrinBlushShockGrin

NoWordForFluffy · 16/04/2020 16:49

Woolly, thank you for the very kind offer. ❤️ They're OK this week as they have an order on Saturday. They have nothing after that date though, so I might ask in a couple of weeks, if you have an order with capacity then.

Boots, I had a week or so recently where I couldn't be arsed didn't fancy doing my cross stitch. I put it down to a general psychological dip due to the current situation. I forced myself to start again and do feel better for it.

I only have a bath after the allotment due to sore muscles. I find them dull in general!

OP posts:
Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 16/04/2020 17:36

Ooh Nero what are the sections like?

He will be going with a couple of friends Woolly so he is very happy.

Just back from the allotment where I did weeding and watering and put some more strawberries in. My garlic and onions are doing very well. No sign of my first early potatoes yet and I'm refusing to put my maincrops in until I see growth of the first earlies in case for some reason potatoes don't like the allotment Grin

In the garden my spring onions have finally appeared and I have potted on my tomatoes.

Just waiting for an Indian now to celebrate DS getting into the school :)

Mrsmadevans · 16/04/2020 20:17

Evening everyone Grin
Been to see to Mum & Bob. They were fine , Enjoyed the lamb stew l made them yesterday and Bob was going to have what was left over today but he couldn't because despite me asking begging my Mum to put what was left over in the fridge , when l got there it was STILL in the oven Hmm. She was off blaming Bob and l wouldn't let her because it was her l asked to make sure it was in the fridge. I know it is all so miniscule, so petty but the problem being when things like this are repeated everyday it gets to you . It's all because Mum is so lazy. She only had to ask Bob and he would have put it in the fridge. I give up l didn't even raise my voice there is no point Hmm
Took 2 bottles Gaviscon & 2 boxes of Paracetamols to Mum's NDN & BFF. They were fine wanted to pay me for them but they have been so kind to Mum & Dad l wouldn't dream of it bless them.
Came home , made an apple crumble & cottage pie for tea and for Mum & Bob tomorrow. Dd1 is doing them tomorrow thank God Grin
Line of washing dried and folded YAY!
Most YAY! Grin wonderful news re Ds school such a huge relief for you & Dh . Well done on all the allotment work and enjoy your Takeaway tonight you deserve it Smile
Boot can't beat a bath to ease the aches and strains much prefer a bath Smile I have not tried a raspberry Magnum yet but soon Grin
Fluffy l am totally biased in Bob's court , he can do no wrong in my eyes Grin. Mother cops it all the time from me re being nasty to him, he is a sweetheart Smile
Wreck l came here earlier saw you had to alter your Asda order and girded my loins & went and did mine then Grin it wasnt too bad but l ask you no Anchor butter? No eggs , no flour yet again! Hmm
Fire that is sweet of your Ds he has a great imagination! Hope you are ok m'dear Flowers
My hands are so rough they are like sand paper , l swear l could sand a piece of wood with them Grin it is all this bloody washing and gelling. Still ...... got to be done , no point in moaning Smile
Nero love the Christmas planner book so pretty Smile
PJ well done on the hunter gatherer shop in Asda espesh the wine Grin
Woolly you have a C&C with Tesco on Sunday drool that is fantastic Grin
Going to watch Ross Kemp on the frontline soon , anyone else going to ? Hang on a min ......
I have just stepped out to cheer the NHS & the forgotten Carers , back now. l took a police whistle out but they didn't like it Grin

WreckTangled · 17/04/2020 07:52

Just got my ASDA delivery note. They haven't got any pasta or spaghetti or dishwasher tablets Hmm I'm not quite sure how they haven't got any dishwasher tablets in the whole store. Otherwise there's a few acceptable subs and everything else is available. There's loads of delivery slots for the week after next too so have got one.

FireflyGirl · 17/04/2020 08:41

I wonder if part of it is that the pickers have been told to limit substitutions, Wreck.

I had no meat with my delivery last week - no mince, no meatballs, nothing for sandwiches. There must have been something they could have subbed!!

Can't remember if I said, well done minimost. Must be a relief for you, most.

I'm doing much better thanks, MrsM. Was really worried about the cramping, but it has completely gone off now. You will probably have to tell Bob the important instructions from now on, to be sure they're not trying to eat food that's been left out all night!

NoWordForFluffy · 17/04/2020 08:57

252

I'm struggling with the countdown...I don't even know what day it is, let alone anything else! Xmas Grin

Another gorgeous day here. I'm going to move my chillies into the greenhouse today as the nights are warmer and I shouldn't have to fleece now.

Wreck, that seems insane re the no dishwasher tablets at all. 🤔🤔 At least you got another slot sorted too.

Firefly, it's crazy when you get absolutely nothing that you ordered like that, and no subs. Our Tesco order had no flour and no sub yesterday, everything else was subbed OK.

I've ordered flour in bulk and have asked if I can add yeast to my order as I hadn't realised the nationwide dearth! (We have our Brexit stock which we've been using.)

I'm glad the cramping has eased for you. Pregnancy is worrying enough without your history included. Flowers

It's a bits and bobs day today; putting curtains back up, touching up paint, sorting Lego. Nothing exciting!

DH is taking stuff to the allotment today and will probably run soon too. His day to escape! 😂

OP posts:
WreckTangled · 17/04/2020 09:08

Firefly I'm pleased the cramping has stopped. Hopefully you'll just keep feeling sick instead Grin

It's weird fluffy isn't it?! Surely dishwasher tablets aren't something people bulk buy. My friend had the same with Tesco last week though so maybe they are Confused my work colleague I'm seeing on Monday is going to Tesco this weekend so she's going to see if she can get some. I didn't want to go to the shop and queue for half an hour just for one item.

It's cloudy here and meant to rain later so I think we will be having a lazy day.

NerosFiddle · 17/04/2020 09:15

Morning.

Tesco have released slots for the next week but I've already booked an asda delivery. I'll stick with asda for that slot and hopefully get back to Tesco after that. Asda have longer dates on their fresh stuff but they've taken far too much off my order.

The planner is great. Can't wait to get stuck into it. First section is an address book for cards. I think it has space for around 500 addresses. I don't think I'll be sending that many.

Another glorious morning, makes me sick. (A hocus pocus ref there)
I would actually prefer it to be cold and raining. At least it would be easier to keep dc inside.

Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 17/04/2020 10:20

It's funny how all our lives now revolve around shopping deliveries! I just sorted mine out for Sunday.

Glad to hear the cramping has stopped fire :)

It is finally raining! I am so happy for the garden and allotment :)

FireflyGirl · 17/04/2020 11:43

Sunny here today, too, but chillier than yesterday. Rain is forecast for tomorrow, so I'm going to go sow wildflower seeds on the allotment this afternoon and hope they get watered in tomorrow.

DS is half dressed - he has pants and trousers on, but no socks and his pj top still. I'm still counting that as a victory 😉

He's at it again with the questions - today's: when did stars turn into humans...

I've fobbed him off with an ice lolly 🤷🏻‍♀ Grin

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 17/04/2020 11:47

Just got a Sainsbury delivery , quite a few not available ( the usual suspects , flour, dry fruit , Stork ...I thought I'd try it on order but nope ) but I got eggs Xmas Grin

Mrs my Dparents (well DDad actually) are right little swine for eating food left out / eating food out of date Hmm / freezing every bloody thing including things you cannot freeze , so I don't want to even contemplate the freeze-defrost-re freeze it'll go through.
DDad has a cast iron stomach and no sense of smell, and as long as I've known him has only twice had issues . Once a Christmas turkey ( 45+ years ago) and some cabbage that he said tasted 'odd' .
But they refuse to waste food ....... aargh . He only weighs as much as a wet hanky on a good day !

So, I have a Lockdown Fridge , not a Christmas Fridge . Even my Easter Fridge was a poor imitation.

WreckTangled · 17/04/2020 14:30

My friend is in Asda now and they only have finish or fairy dishwasher tabs so I'm guessing that's why they didn't sub the ASDA ones we ordered Hmm

Mrsmadevans · 17/04/2020 14:46

Afternoon everyone Grin
I'm feeling the cold something terrible today it's 13 c but l am frozen Shock
Got up had a bath , rung Mum & Bob they were fine , Dd1 doing them today Smile
Cooked Pasta bake & Bacon for tea tonight. Delia's Victoria sandwich ( Dh loves it , she uses butter & vanilla extract) & 24 fairy cakes with sultanas in, l have now got the hang of the fruit not sinking t'bottom. Apparently the fruit has a greasy surface and you have to dust the fruit with flour before you add it Grin
Fire so pleased for you m'dear Smile
Is Ds cottoning on to the lolly giving if he asks deep questions? Clever boy ! Grin
70 my Parents were always a bit meh about storing food, l remember they always kept the Sunday joint in the oven on the wooden bread board Hmm how the hell we were not seriously ill l have no idea. Cast iron guts if you ask me Grin
Well done on the Sains order Grin
Fluffy l am using my Brexit cupboard stock up too, only have 2 bags of SR left & 3 bags of plain. I thought you could turn Plain flour into SR by the addition of baking powder but l will have to google it Grin
Wreck very odd what they don't have in the supermarket , l mean Milk was off mine....... fgs no milk ! They are throwing the stuff out by the tankful!
Nero that planner is the dogs wotsits by the look of it, 500 addresses am vere impressed Grin
Good news NDN is on his way home much better Smile

CrazyBaubles · 17/04/2020 15:10

Hi all. I have been MIA and haven't caught up on the thread, sorry. A member of DHs family is in a care home where some other residents have passed away due to Covid-19 and his family member has symptoms so there's a lot of stress and worry right now.

Neros what sections does your planner have? It looks lovely.
I ordered a diary that came yesterday and it has a Christmas section - just a page for plans, a few pages for budget and present lists, cards and to do lists - should be plenty for me.
I've spent time filling it in, including a list of all the things I want to make. It's been a nice distraction.

Weather has changed here, it was sunny and warm yesterday but it's grey and raining today. Hay fever isn't so bad though.

I hope everyone is ok

FireflyGirl · 17/04/2020 20:34

The BBC has changed its mind, and we're no longer forecast rain tomorrow. Shame, because the allotment could really do with it, but I watered the seeds after I sowed them, so we'll see.

It's forecast 14 degrees plus and sunny every day next week, which is nice because it's my birthday on Tuesday, so we can celebrate by...spending the day at home together... Like we have for the preceding 35 days... Grin

WreckTangled · 17/04/2020 21:02

Between 18 and 22° here next week. Typical I'm back at work.

That's worrying crazy I hope they're ok.

NoWordForFluffy · 17/04/2020 21:06

Same here, Firefly: no rain forecast now! I've been going to water the allotment every day this week. I'm not having my little pea and bread bean plants go crispy and die on me!

Crazy, that's worrying re DH's relative. I hope they pull through.

Mrs, hurrah for your DD going to sort your mum. I reckon Bob will be building a new patio soon though! 😂🙈

And yes, you can add BP to plain flour so it's essentially SR.

How weird re dishwasher tablets, Wreck. I've not seen shortages, other than in Home Bargains when all of the panic buying started.

I'm loving the Christmas planners!

Most, what curry did you get last night?
