Mrs DH only had yesterday off. We're just pleased he has work still tbh.

It's cloudy and windy here. No rain and it's meant to brighten up later but not warm.

Mrsmadevans · 13/04/2020 08:32

Wreck l bet you are , l hope they are paying him double time for the bank holidays 🤗😀

Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 13/04/2020 08:50

Morning all. Cold and breezy here this morning. DH's birthday so we have pancakes with chocolate and strawberries for breakfast and will have takeaway pizza for dinner. Not quite the day we had planned but hey ho.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 13/04/2020 08:54

Morning - my DH is working (usually WFH but he has a meeting) I dropped him off . (Don't really want him going on buses at the moment )

Sneaked into Sainsbury , not to shop, dropped off glass recycle (about 3 weeks worth !)

Washing, cooking some pasta bake for dinner then a quiet cup of coffee ( the DC were still asleep Xmas Grin so peace and quiet .

pussycatinboots · 13/04/2020 09:57

Happy Birthday Mrmost Cake

DH has just cleaned the inside of the windows cat paw and nose marks mainly they look, erm, not great...it looks like he's just moved the marks aroundHmm

Quite chilly out of the sun, that breeze is cold. Back lawn needs a mow and it's garden bin day tomorrow I've checked, they're still emptying it at the mo so that may be a job for after lunch.

NerosFiddle · 13/04/2020 10:29

Morning all.

Happy birthday to your dh the most.

My chest is hurting again today so I'm watching the daily kitchen with a hot water bottle on my chest. Dc are still in their pjs but they'll be fine for today.

It's really sunny here but I think that it's cold. There seems to be a wind blowing.

Mrsmadevans · 13/04/2020 11:14

Happy birthday to your DH Most🎂🎈🎉 👏😄
Nero do you think you have had the virus lovely? Only they say you have awful chest pains with it 💐get well soon sweetie ❤️
Boot well done to DH , mine is in the garden clipping away at anything that moves & eavesdropping on our NDN the other side😀😂😂😂

CrazyBaubles · 13/04/2020 11:29

Morning!

I woke up at 7:30 so enjoyed a peaceful hour with a book and a cuppa before DH joined me.
Have cleaned the bathroom and done some washing. Was just in the spare room (my junk room) and found a box I hadn't sorted through - it contained this mag from 2015 Xmas Blush

I don't have a plan for today really. We're having a simple ham egg and chips for tea so I may just practise more knitting and do a bit of cleaning in the spare room.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 13/04/2020 11:52

Happy Birthay MrTheMost -pancake breakfast and pizza dinner would be my DS ideal birthday dinner (but he'd swerve the strawberries)

Crazy I found some ancient GH Christmas mags a while back and had a nostalgic browse ..... but they don't seem to change year on year do they ? Though I do keep buying them.
I need to know who is selling the best mince pies this year (then ignore it and buy the Sainsbury bakery shortcrust ones - which are the best ones )

Last year I found the GH Get Ahead magazine when I was searching for my car's log book . The magazine everyone was searching for Xmas Grin

WreckTangled · 13/04/2020 13:01

Happy birthday to your dh TheMost. Pancakes are a firm favourite here too.

My house blitz isn't going well. I've done nothing. Am also just wearing leggings and a baggy jumper with no bra Grin might have another coffee and a nap.

I have put chicken in the slow cooker for fajitas tonight. Had to scrape together some lunch for the dc as we're so low on food, DH is going to Tesco after work, hopefully he will get some half price Easter eggs.

My app is going all weird so I can't see what I'm typing, Hope it makes sense.

Crazy love the magazine! Ds watxned the grinch on Saturday. I really do hope this is over by Christmas. I can just about cope with missing out on lovely bank holiday days out and our trip we had booked to London but the thought of no festive activities is all a bit much.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 13/04/2020 13:42

I'm hoping to book one of those coach tours to a UK Christmas market (we were thinking about it before the Lockdown and I'll reclaim my booked holiday as I won't be going away in June ) .
Quite fancy the idea .
One was coach to a Designer Outlet Village then hotel then a Christmas Market , coach home .
No worries about parking , fall asleep on the way back ....... sounds good ?

Just need to find it and see what's on offer .....and hope it's do-able

CrazyBaubles · 13/04/2020 14:31

70 I have 2 little GH Christmas booklets with tips on being organised / recipes / gift ideas etc. I think they came 2 or 3 years apart and comparing them this morning I can confirm they all say exactly the same thing but I will absolutely buy another one this year Xmas Grin

I did a coach trip to Birmingham Christmas market a few years ago. I wouldn't do that one again tbh, it was too busy and packed to enjoy BUT the Christmas market in Edinburgh was lovely last year.

My house blitz is going well Wreck - I've sorted a few bits in the spare room (with the door closed) to find DH struggles with his own company so much he's serviced the hoover, cleaned the windows outside and is now cleaning inside 😂

I really hope this is all over by Christmas too - I have a mini cruise booked for mid December to go to Bruges and flights booked to go to Prague on Boxing Day evening (I love it there and the market will still be going).

I've spent a happy half hour cutting gift tags out of old Christmas cards (that I found in the box with the magazine). Am now about to add the last 4 stitches to Joey 🤞🏼then I'm going to read the Sainsbury's magazine I also found, unopened, dates May 2016 (do you sense a theme here...)? Blush

NerosFiddle · 13/04/2020 14:31

Mrs I'm hoping that I've already had it and got through it. Though I got the test last week and it was negative. Although that was at day 19 so the active virus could have already left my system.

70 where is coach trip to? I'd love to do something like that this year.
I was looking at going to center Parcs for Christmas but I think I'd need to remortgage to afford it. Dh never gets off at Christmas but if he goes back to his promoted job when all this is over he should get off the first week.

I was going through my magazine collection too, but o only found ones from a couple of years ago. I do have a GH Christmas book from the 90s though.

I got an asda delivery for next Monday! It seems they release their dates around 7am from r the following week.

NerosFiddle · 13/04/2020 14:33

Crazy I went to Prague in January a good few years ago and they had just taken down their markets that week. So they'll definitely be there on Boxing Day.

Mrsmadevans · 13/04/2020 14:53

I am sure that Poland do Chritmas untill February or am l imaginging that Grin
I have found a lovely little site with Polish recipes on it here
polishhousewife.com/category/cakes/

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 13/04/2020 14:57

Nero I think the Market+ Outlet was Bath. (including hotel)
There was another to Winchester (just a day)

Not sure if I'd appreciate the Designer Outlet , it would be more DD sort of thing , but worth a pootle round I reckon.

There's nothing on the website at the moment so I'll keep looking back .

Mrsmadevans · 13/04/2020 15:06

Nero l do hope you have had it already m'dear Flowers
Well done on the Asda slot yay!!!
Just had a delivery from Iceland, we share deivery with the elderly neighbours, only half the order came , no eggs , flour, ice creams, marg for baking cakes , meat or cheese . Bread & sausages & mashed potatoes & carrots & sugar so we can have bangers and mash anyway Grin Never mind we are grateful for that tbh, anything that keeps us from the shops. l have to stay safe for Mum and Bob and Dh with his dicky Afib heart , he is convinced it's curtains for him if he got it bless him Smile
Crazy can't wait to see Joey Grin ham egg and chips one of my very faveourite meals yummy Smile

Mrsmadevans · 13/04/2020 15:21

This is the first instruction Grin
'1. Soak the dried fruit in enough rum or brandy to cover' Grin Grin

NoWordForFluffy · 13/04/2020 15:31

Neros, I hope you're better soon. It sounds like you've really been through it this year.

Wreck, enjoy your unplanned lazy day!

Loving all the magazine talk. I have many, samey, Christmas ones which I also buy every year; I'm a sucker!

Mrs, that order sounds almost-pointless. I'll avoid Iceland!

The markets in orthodox Euro countries end in the first week as they celebrate on Epiphany, I believe. I'd love to go to a market after Christmas.

I've been at the allotment. It was chilly in the wind even though it's sunny until about 11-ish. Then the wind dropped and it was really pleasant.

Boots, I'm way better at cleaning than DH. He takes longer though. 🤔

I got my homegrown peas and broad beans in the ground (I had to clear a patch of weeds / roots first as I had more broad beans than my intended space for them), plus beetroot and lettuce seeds. I also did more weeding (obvs)!

Happy birthday to MrMost and Woolly's DD! 🎂

Mrs mine will be soak the fruit in Amarretto then Put that spoon down 70 , don't eat it out the bowl , you know you can't handle alcohol Xmas Grin

I have to get butter, sultanas and eggs but this might be a Wedding Anniversary cake idea .........

WreckTangled · 13/04/2020 15:58

Mrs i am dressed, had a shower and everything, just dressed in slobby clothes Grin

I want to make DH some spicy rice to go with dinner but I only have a pouch of ready made rice I won't if I can use that. Probably not Hmm

pussycatinboots · 13/04/2020 16:26

70 what the hell is in that tin?? It looks like Jaws Shock pretty sure Charlie would run away and Tilly would growl at it Grin we have a Polski Sklep in town, and a few smaller ones too. I suspect "fishface" has put me off going in them for life Shock

Neros have you phoned the docs for some advice? Hope you've had a quiet day and the kids enjoyed another pyjama day Smile

fluffy DH keeps checking the spuds n carrots, they've been in less than a week - he's so impatient Grin
It's supposed to be frosty again tonight, so you'll need to deploy "ghosty" in the greenhouse - you really need to draw a spooky face on him Wink

Mrs NDN made a load of Christmas cakes, she used a whole bottle of rum per cake, you wouldn't have been able to go near them with a naked flame...they suffered from terminally soggy bottom and were raw in the middle and charred at the edges.

Crazy if there are any vouchers, they might be a bit out of date by now Grin

Mrsmadevans · 13/04/2020 16:37

Happy birthday to Woolly's Dd too ! FlowersStar
Wreck l am sure you look just gorgeous Smile
I always buy the Mexican pkt rice in Aldi's it's lovely Smile
70 Grin Grin
Fluffy love the pics you have been so busy!!
Agree re the Iceland delivery but for the sausages Grin
been trying ages to get them Grin
Boot l will never grace the door of a Polski shop ever after them jaw things urgh! Grin My Dh said they look like his toenails on a good day, he's not that far off except they are brilliant white and his are a dirty shade of yeller Grin
Your NDN sounds a fine woman ! No wonder the bottom was soggy with all the brandy in it , she probably 'fed' it well Grin
