Happy Easter everyone xxx Flowers Grin

FireflyGirl · 12/04/2020 10:33

We normally have a big family dinner at Easter, similar to Christmas, so it'll be a bit strange just the three of us.

We've had chocolate/sweets for breakfast and I've done lamb shanks in the slow cooker for tea. DS enjoyed his Easter egg hunt, but didn't want to eat the sweets in the eggs as he prefers the ones we got him. His favourite present, however, is the whoopee cushion DM bought him Hmm

We've got eggs to decorate, then pin the tail on the bunny, and then we'll finish with a film later. That's quite a proactive day considering I feel terrible! I may end up in bed by lunch Grin

NerosFiddle · 12/04/2020 10:45

Happy Easter!

It's my anniversary today so dh gave me a lie in. I think I slept for about 10 hours. I don't know myself.

I think a wee cuppa tea is in order now.

NoWordForFluffy · 12/04/2020 11:10

Happy anniversary, Neros! It's our meeting anniversary today (Muse for the TCT gig at RAH) which was 12 years' ago.

We don't do anything for Easter really. Other than eggs and missing chocolate bars.

It's a shame for everyone missing out on what they'd normally do. Flowers

Fluffy if you use the shovel puss offered you, I will swear you were at my house visiting DDog after his recent illness 😇

Wreck Yay, I've never known anyone to watch it except DH & I. I find Kelso possibly funnier this time around, makes me appreciate Ashton Kutchers comedic timing

Happy Anniversary Neros. You must have needed that sleep!

Happy Easter everyone!

DH is in charge of lunch today and he's decided he's doing a roast.
We usually go to my parents for a big chaotic family dinner so it's an odd one this year. I'm not usually one to dwell on things but FaceTime isn't the same so I'm really missing everyone today, especially my niece and nephews. Eldest has much more important things to do than FaceTime me (Xbox, football in the garden) and the other 2 sort of jabber at me then wander off. I want a cwtch off them all.

Anyway, weather is good. My house is verging on being too clean so today will be adding the finishing touch to 'Joey.' practising knitting because I'm rubbish and reading.

Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 12/04/2020 12:36

Happy anniversary Nero!

Just had a lovely Sunday Lunch provided by the Celtic Manor. The pudding was particularly delicious. Now going to spend the afternoon watching TV with DS and cross stitching.

My lettuce has begun germination :)

pussycatinboots · 12/04/2020 13:36

Firefly I love your DS! I also had a selection of whoopee cushions as a kid GrinGrin
Neros Happy Anniversary Cake Wine
Crazy are you going to give Joey a little mate? Wink You can't leave him all lonely, he needs someone to bill and coo with Grin
Most lettuce?...I didn't think about lettuce

TheWoollybacksWife · 12/04/2020 13:45

Happy Easter everyone. 🐣 and Happy Anniversary Neros

We could smell smoke last night PJ there are some antisocial arses around.

I love all the cat photos. We had two when we were first married. The first was a really skittish kitten that used to climb up the back of a chest of drawers and sleep in my jumpers. She hated being groomed but would just about tolerate a glove with knobbly bits on that helped de-fluff her. When she was old and sick she finally liked sitting on your knee and being stroked. The other was a stray that adopted us. He adored being stroked and would roll onto his back so you could tickle his tummy. He was killed by a fox Sad We can't have pets now as DD2 is allergic to fur.

We had a family video call this morning as we normally meet at SILs for an Easter BBQ so it was nice to see everyone and catch up. We should have been in Liverpool yesterday celebrating DD2's 21st but I've postponed it until October. Not the birthday obviously just the party 🤣

Both DD1 and DD2 have birthdays in the next 10 days. Atrocious planning on my part. I didn't plan anything Even worse because it was also my birthday last week. DD1's present arrived yesterday and I'm excited about giving it to her because she is under the impression that it's out of stock so she doesn't think she's getting it. She wants a birthday brunch of American pancakes and bacon and a Lord of the Rings movie marathon. Simple tastes.

DD2 has already had her present and the plans for her birthday are a black tie dinner (Chinese takeaway) and we'll do a family video call too. My SILs have said they'll make little cakes so their DC can blow candles out too.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 12/04/2020 16:09

Ohh Happy Easter

It is now tipping down with rain but that means I don't have to cough through BBQ smoke or listen to Annoying Football Child constantly going thwack thwack thwack with a ball on the fence .
He was this morning , I was THIS close > < to shrieking like a fishwife "Oh FFS give it a Rest ! One day this week just turn it in"

But I just seethed quietly , until Acts of God (rain) intervened.

I have frozen roast potatoes in the oven . Read all these "Get Ahead" tips in Christmas menu planning . I had some potatoes that wouldn't have lasted so I froze them on Thursday . Not as fluffy on the edges as I wanted , it said boil 6 minutes no more .
This might revolutionise roast potatoes or it might go Pete Tong.

My 2 cats are in The Naughty Book .
Yesterday and this morning - found a large fresh cat turd on their litter mat . (less than 4" from the tray ) One was in the time it took me to go upstairs with DD coffee .
Don't know who the gulity party is or if it's both ? They are both looking Sphinx Like , not admitting nuffink

Obviously some issue going on, they are as good as gold really . I've said to DH we need to make sure the tray is always pee clump free , it might be the overnight pee that putting them off ?

WreckTangled · 12/04/2020 16:29

It's still lovely and sunny here. We've been on a long walk where we saw wild garlic, bluebells, Egyptian geese and mice Smile so nice to forget about everything for a bit.

Christmas countdown 2020: Lockdown edition (thread 4)
pussycatinboots · 12/04/2020 17:29

70 do they have a tray each? Tilly is always crossing her legs with loud "Meeeeooowwwww" first thing in the morning when I let her out, and dashes to the garage where there are 2 more trays. I don't blame her, I wouldn't use a tray after Charlie had...
Woolly you could get a goldfish? or one of those bald cats? not both, obvs. Maybe Crazy will take orders for budgies? Grin

Anyone else pondering fluffys patio laying skills? Has her DH been buried or did he eventually find the elusive missing chocolate?

WreckTangled · 12/04/2020 17:33

I reckon fluffy would be awesome at patio laying.

pussycatinboots · 12/04/2020 17:47

Unfortunately for her DH, so do I Grin

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 12/04/2020 18:09

puss we've tried every permutation - 2 trays (massive) 3 trays .
They had the trays in the cupboard under the stairs but kept missing and getting it on the floor .
When we went away (on our ill fated holiday that pt me in hospital) I didn't want the DC dealing with this so we put one huge tray in the hall.....and the cats liked this .
So we got a huge tray with a cover and its worked fine .

I think today we got up late and DH fed but didn't pee scoop . ( Cannot rememeber what time of day yesterday was ).

So we need to up our game here and scoop night +morning without fail and (obviously) if they deposit .
They are good , clean little cats so we'll sort this for them. (Of course they could go in the garden to pee and leave the tray dry , but they haven't considered this ) Xmas Grin . They used to be ferally kittens so should have no problems wee-weeing on soil !

pussycatinboots · 12/04/2020 18:20

70 They're exhibitionists if they want the tray in the middle of the hall Grin Tilly likes me to put the light on in the garage for her Hmm
More scooping is the only way to go - unless you're using a different litter? Ours is more "clumpy" now than the older stuff but they've taken to it ok.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 12/04/2020 18:30

We've used Cats Best since they came here so its not that.

Female cat wandered in last week and yakked up a grass'n'spit ball in the middle of the kitchen floor ! So yes, I think they do it for effect Xmas Grin

Our last guinea-pig was called Tilly (Matilda on a Sunday)

NoWordForFluffy · 12/04/2020 18:34

I've not laid a new patio. Yet. But he hasn't bothered to look for the chocolate, no. I'm pretty sure he's already given it to them to eat but doesn't want to fess up! (It's not where we keep the kids' chocolate stash, which is where he'd put it if he hadn't listened to heard me tell him that they were for Easter.)

Cat poo is very grim indeed. I don't envy you your current issue, 70!

Woolly, we'd have been swapping locations with you again if we could've travelled. We generally keep the NW and East Mids well-balanced!

Wreck, lovely walk! We've not been anywhere today.

I've been busy again today as I stripped the bed, including all the pillow and mattress protectors, washed those, then washed the duvet; dusted; investigated the cause of the creased lino in the bathroom and ordered some tape to sort it; scrubbed the bathroom floor with bleach as it was grubby, then steam mopped; cleaned the outside of front windows and door; and sanded the doorframe at the front as it needs painting in parts. I couldn't paint it though as DH has misplaced the tin of paint. Anybody else spying a theme here?!

I've re-made the bed and taken our voiles down to wash too as they'd suddenly got grubby. I'll have to clean the inside of windows before I put them back up tomorrow.

Oh, we also cleaned under and behind the fridge freezer and chest freezer. That was grim indeed! 🤮🤮🤮

It was sunny here til just gone 5; it looks ominous now. ☔️

My DC (20 and nearly 18) embraced The Easter Bunny enough to accept their eggs -small Crunchie Egg + £10 in a golden egg for DS , large Dairy Milk + Easter Egg Hunt pack for DD .

DS always says he wants "money not things" (he saves everything- wages,(P/T though obvs not working at the moment ) pocket money , money for Christmas / Birthday , money from grandparents , his uncle ) Quite proud of his saving ethic though . I hadn't realised we were still giving him pocket money at 20 Xmas Blush but DD has a snazzy phone (her choice) DS has a Hand Me Down From DD (his choice) so she has her contract paid .

He gets PJs , socks, pants , toiletries in his Dec 1st box ( a years worth ) because if I gave him money he wouldn't buy them .

pussycatinboots · 12/04/2020 18:43

I wonder if the paint tin is with the chocolate Hmm
Did you find any peas under the freezer? I always do Grin although Charlie once killed a whole runner bean from someones garden and brought it in as a "gift" for me, played with it - demonstrating his excellent dribbling ability - and lost it under the cooker Grin

NoWordForFluffy · 12/04/2020 18:58

I found a peg, a fridge magnet and a sprouting potato. Confused No peas, oddly!

Morning! Gloriously sunny here (though it must've been windy overnight as the lemon trees had fallen over again! We had some rain last night, but I don't think it was much really. We need more!

I've just re-hung the voiles in the windows (I cleaned the lounge windows last night and the bedroom this morning). We can now open the curtains and not be watched!

I think I'm allotmenting today. I need to get more stuff into the ground.
