Afternoon.

Here we go again! It feels slightly bonkers setting off again before today is over, but it's tradition, so who am I to argue?!

Morning!

I had an early night last night (before 10!). I was lucky to get much beyond 9 as I was exhausted. Probably still tired from digging!

Mrs, your DD is lucky to have you. Flowers

Adora, sorry your 'D'H is being a dick.

Crazy, well done on the Christmas weight. Clean slate now.

EmrysAtticus · 14/01/2020 07:00

Well done on the weight crazy!

I rarely make it past 9 fluffy. I did see the GP once as I need so much sleep and they did bloods but all normal so I guess it is just who I am.

Mrsmadevans · 14/01/2020 09:11

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 14/01/2020 12:22

I have just had a scary NHS interview and now re-cuperating eating cheese on toast.

NoWordForFluffy · 14/01/2020 13:35

Flouncy, I'm OK where I work now, as I get off before it goes express. Not in my old job though; it was a pain in the arse!

Good luck with the ongoing search, Mrs.

Oops, I forgot about the interview. Fingers crossed!

PJMasksGhekko · 14/01/2020 13:54

Afternoon everyone, pretty miserable here in Northants!!

I'm sure something will come along Mrs, and when it does it will be the perfect one Smile

Wreck, DD1 came into me at 7.40am and said Mum i think you really should be getting up now, cue me dashing out of bed Grin

WreckTangled · 14/01/2020 16:16

Four powers just gone off twice. Back on again now hopefully it'll stay on so I can cook dinner in a bit

Mrsmadevans · 14/01/2020 16:54

Afternoon everyone Smile
It's terrible here the wind and rain are blustery to say the least Hmm
Have done a good few PA hours for DD2 again today Smile
'Don't keep me hanging on the telephone' Grin this has been the song running through my mind Grin the amount of times l have been put on hold until they find the damn info out Hmm
Why can't estate agents find out the information before they put the house on the market ? I have been ringing them up for hours trying to find out , service charges they don't know , council tax repeat ground rent repeat , management fees repeat , water meter
repeat honestly is it me or doesn't everyone want to know this before they buy a place? I have given up for today Hmm
So to a more pleasant place ie here Smile
Thank you PJ I know you are right Smile
Why hope it wasn't anything horrible m'dear Flowers
Thank you Fluffy l so hope she finds something soon it's getting to me now Grin she has an appt for a mortgage on Thursday 12pm thank God Grin
Right l had better shift and do tea sausages and bacon and tomyartoes for tea Grin

BiddyPop · 14/01/2020 17:10

Mind yourselves all. The wind has died down again here, but it is sigNIFICANTly colder than yesterday. Need my gloves colder. Just finished last meeting of the day and boss sent me to get the earlier train (have to collect my car from annual service en route home). Slight pressure reduction as election called, but that also means other pressures added.

Why, I hope you enjoyed that cheese on toast and it restored your soul. Interviews are the worst!!

Mrs, you are so good to DD, and yes, you really would think such elementary questions would be part of an estate agent’s knowledge of the thing they are trying to persuade someone to buy!

Wreck, good luck on dinner preps, do you have a couple of candles/torches ready in case? If you get dinner good and hot now, even if power goes off, you could use the Christmas Day trick of tin foil and bath towels to keep it hot enough to cook through? And a flask of hot water now could mean a nice cuppa later... 🤣

Sorry to anyone I’ve missed.

WreckTangled · 14/01/2020 17:14

We have everything ready. We haven't had a power cut since the 23rd/24th December 2014. It was off for almost 24 hours and everywhere was flooded. Most power lines have been put underground since then I think.

Mrs you need a restful evening!

NoWordForFluffy · 14/01/2020 17:54

We had a short power cut last April, but I've no idea when the last one was before that! At least you're prepared, Wreck!

Biddy, does your department quieten right down leading up to the ejection? Do you have purdah?

Mrs, so busy! And the agents won't find out as they don't want to be held responsible for being wrong. It's ask on viewing or solicitor to find out during buying, sadly.

You can find out council tax online if you have the postcode. Google council tax bands and you'll go to the government website.

Weather is drying now, thankfully. Meant to be lovely tomorrow.

WreckTangled · 14/01/2020 17:57

We've got heavy rain right up until mid morning tomorrow. It was awful driving home at 3pm so much water everywhere already I dread to think what it'll be like in the morning.

Mrsmadevans · 14/01/2020 21:19

Wreck you will have to go round the long way to avoid the flood again l bet ! Hmm

Mrsmadevans · 14/01/2020 21:24

Biddy, thank you so much, that is so kind of you to say that. l am sure it is only what every one of us here would do for their DC though. You do do much for other ppl's DC with the Scouts and you are so busy Flowers
Fluffy thank you m'dear Smilel have looked the council taxes up and they are astronomical Grin just as l feared lol
Watching Midsomer murders , you can't beat a bit of it to unwind Grin
Have a good night sleep everyone Smile

WreckTangled · 14/01/2020 21:28

Mrs dd is poorly so I might have to take tomorrow off. Really inconvenient as I've got a school booked in tomorrow which I was looking forward to. Hoping she makes a miraculous recovery overnight as she's spent all day in bed. What is it with council tax these days?! It's extortionate! Ours is £160/month on our tiny two up two down end of terrace house Angry

NoWordForFluffy · 14/01/2020 21:57

Ours is £145. Maybe I shouldn't complain.

Mrs, don't forget she'll have a 25% discount as sole occupant.

Are you Band C, flouncy? We're B.

Mrsmadevans · 14/01/2020 22:11

Wreck your poor DD , just your luck too. Ahh she can't help it though bless her. I hope she is better by tomorrow and you don't have to take the long way round Smile Flowers
Our council tax is £238 Shock it's downright diabolical. We get bgr all services for it too , haven't even got a decent sports centre and swimming pool Hmm.
£160 is a lot for yours for 2 beds ? It's the area you are in l expect , not too far from London . You will be eligible for a bigger place if so though Wreck Smile
Best shift to bed have a good nights sleep everyone Smile

WreckTangled · 14/01/2020 22:23

We're a Band C. Only flats are a band B round here. Mrs yours is crazy money. I think the worst thing, round here especially, is that there's a lot of rich people but the most they would pay is £360/month. Even on the £21million mansion down the road. It really needs a big overhaul I think.
