I have had about 15.

Too many

I do wish the whole Christmas card thing would die a death.

58p for a second class stamp is such a waste of money

I really wish people would give that money to charity instead of a shite card which just goes in the bin

Herocomplex · 20/12/2019 20:56

A handful. I’m bad at sending them though!

PenOrPencil · 20/12/2019 20:59

53! Xmas Shock I’d really like to cut down, but how do you let people know? Write “this will be our last card to you” in them? I don’t think we can just stop.

Bearbehind · 20/12/2019 21:01

53 is more than £25 spent on bits of paper posted around the country

Imagine how much more use that would be if it was all given to charity.

tinytemper66 · 20/12/2019 21:03

I have just stopped. I gave about £60 to 2 charities in lieu of cards. More money thannid I had sent cards. I have a plethora of cards in my house from over the years and will not buy anymore if I decide to send them another Christmas in the future.

ASqueakingInTheShrubbery · 20/12/2019 21:07

About 60 so far. I love Christmas cards. Hoping there will be more in tomorrow's post.

CathyorClaire · 20/12/2019 21:08

Lots.

Have only posted 4 of my own though but dh has sent more. We get a lot from work colleagues which seems a little pointless but guilt means they get them right back.

Wish the whole card thing would just quietly go away TBH.

katy1213 · 20/12/2019 21:08

Of course you can just stop! No explanations necessary.

ParkheadParadise · 20/12/2019 21:11

About 30.
Dd2 is coming home from Nursery with bloody Christmas cards.
All the cards are in a pile in the kitchen.

EmmiJay · 20/12/2019 21:13

I've had 6 I think, but expect the batch from up north to arrive within the next few days. I haven't sent any out Blush and didn't give DD any to give to her class; she recieved a whole bag full. Blah.

SoMuchToBits · 20/12/2019 21:13

I have received 35 so far, and expect to receive a few more. I have sent slightly more than I am likely to receive, as a couple of people I've sent to are elderly with dementia, and one or two others have stopped sending cards.

I love receiving cards, but have reduced the number I send slightly in recent years, as there were one or two people I just exchanged a card with every year but had no other contact, and thought there was no point in continuing.

UndertheCedartree · 20/12/2019 21:13

I've had about 12. I've sent 8. Only one was sent through the post and I've only recieved 2 through the post, I think.

c75kp0r · 20/12/2019 21:14

none - I haven't sent one for about 15 years. Not a popular choice to begin with as far as the relatives were concerned but they got used to it - I expect the 'no cards' is the least of their criticisms, so whatevs.

LazyFace · 20/12/2019 21:16
  1. :-) One of my boys came home with about 15 in the last week and I'm trying to find a way of asking him if I can use those as gift tags.
SoMuchToBits · 20/12/2019 21:17

And of the cards I've received, 5 were home made or those ones children design at school. About 5 were just shop bought. The remainder were all either bought from specific charities, or were from shops which gave a percentage of the proceeds to certain charities.

I always buy mine from a specific charity too, and don't think that buying cards necessarily means that charities don't benefit. Plus, it's perfectly possible to send cards and also donate to charity separately.

HeyMicky · 20/12/2019 21:18

We've had about 8. The kids have had about 15 each Confused

CherryPavlova · 20/12/2019 21:18

Two or three hundred - but were of a generation that does and have moved around a bit, so friends we don’t see frequently. We’ve also both got a fair few work ones.

Pyjamaface · 20/12/2019 21:23

About 30?

I don't do cards, haven't for years so everyone knows not to expect one from me.

PennyRoyal · 20/12/2019 21:27

44 so far and expecting more to arrive, although numbers are reducing year on year.
I love sending and receiving cards. I choose them carefully for each person and write a personal message in each. I always buy charity cards direct from the charity and I write them all (70+) over a couple of nights at the start of December with a glass of wine and Christmas carols playing. It's the start of Christmas for me Xmas Smile

peanutdust · 20/12/2019 21:28

None id love to receive one i live in a block of flats I posted one to everyone when I first moved in 5 years ago and no one sent one back. Shame really but my friends are more of the send a text a or WhatsApp which is fine but I'd like to receive one Hmm

B0bbin · 20/12/2019 21:29

Loads. I've been really pleased to receive cards through the post this year as I feel I've not been great at keeping in touch with some friends spread out around the country. Not so much the ones from colleagues I see every day...

SoMuchToBits · 20/12/2019 21:29

@PennyRoyal I also sit and write mine with a glass of wine and carols! It's part of Christmas for me. Xmas Smile

lettersbyowl · 20/12/2019 21:32

@cherrypavlova 200? Where do you put them all????

Maryann1975 · 20/12/2019 21:34

Less than normal I think. But as the children are growing up, they haven’t brought as many home (actually I think the older two have only had a couple each-too cool for cards now). I sent loads and even as I was writing them I was asking myself what on Earth I was doing. I stick them all up though, I think they look pretty.
