I have had about 15.

OP posts:

I counted ours today - 26. All from elderly people plus the milkman/oilman and 3 prospective universities.

They are all languishing in the recycle box.

We send none and this is the 6th year. Prior to cards becoming not the done thing, we'd get about 150.

AhoyMrBeaver · 21/12/2019 20:22

A couple of dozen probably. I like sending and receiving Christmas cards, but I only send them to people I won't be able to wish a merry Christmas to in person. I don't like handing them to people, it feels a bit weird.

JaJoJe · 21/12/2019 20:44

0 - I think I can count one one hand the number of xmas cards I've had in total since junior school (and I'm middle aged now lol).

I dont think its something most people under 60 do is it?
I get lots of facebook gifs and stuff but honestly I'm not into either, both seem like a waste of time.

ivykaty44 · 21/12/2019 20:45

I’ve sent digital cards for the second year running, easier & cheaper

WeirdPookah · 21/12/2019 21:35

Thankfully very few and aside from super cheap mini cards for my 5 year old to her whole class (ffs waste of time) only written a couple as well.

They need to go back to being what they are meant for... to wish well to people you actually care about but are not going to see for Christmas. Nobody else needs one!

everythingisginandroses · 21/12/2019 22:18

Just counted 34.

EmmaC78 · 21/12/2019 22:22

I have had about 7. It is getting less each year thankfully as i think it is a waste of time and money. I actually just put them straight in the recycling. The few I got from work didn't even make it home. I just put them in the office recycling when i was tidying my office on the last day.

Just counted and we have 56

AnneElliott · 21/12/2019 23:06

About 50? I think I've sent the same. I love them.

longtompot · 21/12/2019 23:18

Only 12 this year. I sent about 40, some are work ones, this year. I keep meaning to only send to those who send us one, but yet to do it. I think I shall next year. I did send all the local ones using scout post, so much cheaper plus it helps the scout out.

BillyAndTheSillies · 21/12/2019 23:24

Until yesterday I had four. One from church, one from my hairdressers, one from my cleaner and one that DS bought home from nursery.

We've now got about 10. I don't send them personally but will give one to mine and DH's parents from our DS's.

Yesterdayallmyfish · 21/12/2019 23:25

I think it nice to receive a message wishing you a merry Christmas in the post from someone you haven't seen in a while but who still wishes you well. People you used to work with, people you used to live near, people you went to uni with. It's nice. I send Christmas cards and I give money to charity and if I stopped sending Christmas cards I wouldn't say I was giving money to charity instead. The 2 things are unrelated. It's lame saying you are giving to charity instead. You aren't. You have just decided to not bother wishing anyone a merry Christmas through Christmas cards which is a valid choice but nothing to do with whether you give to charity or not.

StanleyWalkersThirdWife · 21/12/2019 23:26

I dont really "do" cards, weve got maybe 10 so far.

I was behind an older lady in the post office a few weeks ago and she posted all her cards at the counter, some to ireland and some round the uk and the total came to over £35! Just on postage!! Xmas Shock

AndWhatNext · 21/12/2019 23:28

Between DD (year 7) and me we have 15.

We are both not sending any this year, apart from to her elderly grandparents and my sister's elderly MIL.

HerRoyalFattyness · 21/12/2019 23:31

My absolute favourite is from a parent at work. It has such a lovely message inside about how I'm like a second mum to her child, so thoughtful and heartfelt. I will treasure it forever.

Instagrump · 21/12/2019 23:48

I reckon about 5 or 6. The kids have a whole bunch though.

MiniMum97 · 21/12/2019 23:55

Much less this year. Probably because we haven't sent any this year.

SeasideThisChristmas · 22/12/2019 00:00

About 20. It goes down every year, partly due to people just not being bothered by this particular tradition I suppose.

But interestingly...I sent about 25 this year, which included DH’s mum and our neighbours. However, I refused to do all his other relatives, friends, business contacts etc. He didn’t bother either, surprise surprise. So we got maybe half of what we did last year.

LazyArsehole · 22/12/2019 00:00

One.

Thehollyandtheirony · 22/12/2019 08:31

About 10.
I love Christmas cards. I give to charity as well, we are very fortunate that we don’t have to choose between the two.

VestaTilley · 22/12/2019 09:02

Not counted, but fewer than last year. Probably about 30-40.

VestaTilley · 22/12/2019 09:03

@HerRoyalFattyness that is so lovely!!

ravensoaponarope · 23/12/2019 19:45
  1. The older I get, the more I appreciate them. @JaJoJe I and most of my friends are under 60 and do cards. :-) I'm 49.
DrunkSanta · 23/12/2019 19:47

None and I'm delighted

Getoffmylilo · 23/12/2019 19:54

27, a few more to come tomorrow. I'll have done about the same. Most are charity cards though, but who knows how much the charity really makes. Only one home made card, which is hilarious and the best of the bunch.
