I have had about 15.

OP posts:

20 approx, that’s about a third of usual amount. Maybe as last couple of years I haven’t bothered people are getting the hint! I just hate them hanging around, look messy and just a waste to me.

anxioussue · 21/12/2019 07:13

None but we had a happy Christmas text from the cats vet.

Doryhunky · 21/12/2019 07:19

Far fewer than previously. Around 20 when it used to be nearer 40 and before that 60. It’s because people communicate online and often don’t have people’s addresses! But it’s a shame.

charley50 · 21/12/2019 12:50

Tell a lie - I've had four.

And I'm expecting 5 more realistically this year, so 9, maybe 10 by Xmas.

BarbedBloom · 21/12/2019 14:19

7, mostly from older relatives but had one today for a friend when I thought we had said we weren't doing them this year. Bother

chloxox08 · 21/12/2019 14:33

One.. hand made off my 7 year old sister Grin

dottypotter · 21/12/2019 14:55

we sent one and got 4. Cut down over the years its silly!

Ninkanink · 21/12/2019 14:57

Five, so far. Expecting two or three more if previous years are anything to go by. We only sent five between my OH and me.

HowlsMovingBungalow · 21/12/2019 15:03

I've spent the last few months managing a charity Christmas card shop def drop in card buying this year.

viccat · 21/12/2019 15:06

Fewer every year although I'm not sending as many either...

Lovemusic33 · 21/12/2019 15:07

I haven’t technically got any, there are some at my mums I need to collect from close family but we don’t really get many, I think I have written 10.

Carnabie · 21/12/2019 15:14

About 20? Sent around 35. I love Christmas cards so it is a shame fewer people seem to be sending them but I don’t take it personally if I don’t get one from someone!

LesLavandes · 21/12/2019 15:47

Where do you put the cards you receive?

ExpletiveFairylighted · 21/12/2019 15:52

About 50, same as we've sent, a few have dropped away over the years but most people we know still do them. We buy them direct from charities too.

RingtheBells · 21/12/2019 19:02

I sent 4 in the post and handed out about 8, received about a dozen

adhdme2019 · 21/12/2019 19:03

1 meant for us and 1 accidental one

We don’t really have any friends and most family have stopped doing them now.

joystir59 · 21/12/2019 19:05

About 30.

RingtheBells · 21/12/2019 19:06

The cards we receive stand on the bookcase shelves in front of the books.

Henlie · 21/12/2019 19:35

We’ve had about 60-70 cards this year..... I probably send around the same number. All are displayed in our home.

We love sending and receiving cards in this house. Cards are purchased from a mixture of charities and DD’s school. After Christmas they are either reused as gift tags for the following year or DD(5) uses them for making/crafting with.

Christmas cards are low on the list of
non-environmentally friendly/wasteful Christmas items.....in my humble opinion 😐

Serin · 21/12/2019 19:38

26

elp30 · 21/12/2019 19:41

8 but they're all from my MIL for her son, myself, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. I always appreciate receiving them as I am well aware that there will be a day where we won't get one.

I haven't sent one in years and I'm starting to feel bad about it when I realize that I don't actually have the addresses for my own sister or BIL & SIL.

It's time to change that.

Roselilly36 · 21/12/2019 19:52

Many more than I have sent. Hoping for less next year!

Squirrelblanket · 21/12/2019 19:54

We've had five and one of them was from our local taxi firm. Grin

GnomeoNameo · 21/12/2019 20:01

Just over a hundred currently.
We send about 160 - a generational thing, plus with work we've moved around a lot and I'm still in touch with lots of people from my childhood.

We always buy charity cards and recycle as much as possible, including stamps, and making Xmas tags etc. It's really lovely to hear from people we are only in touch with once a year, and I write personal notes to many of them, and get replies which are proper letters and with meaningful news and such. Obviously some are just "To Gnomeo, from Whoever" but it's a fairly harmless way of connecting with people at this time of year. Most people I send to aren't on social media or I don't know their email, and having a card with a bit of news in it helps me to think about them more.

RoseMartha · 21/12/2019 20:08

Including cards for the DC about 45.
