I have had about 15.

OP posts:

4...which is great because I hate them to be honest! I think they are such a waste of time, energy and money in this day and age. I never sent Christmas cards...

I mean I got an email from dh’s relative asking how we were and what is our new address as they wanted to send a Christmas card. She then signed off...happy Christmas!Confused I emailed her back saying (in a nice way) please don’t send a card I am more than happy to hear from her by email. We then had a lovely back and forth through email. I don’t have to recycle my emails, she saved on stamps etc so all good imo.

HollyBollyBooBoo · 20/12/2019 21:34

The number decreases each year as fewer people bother. Makes me sad as I love Christmas cards!

tigger1001 · 20/12/2019 21:35

One, so far 😂 I hate cards with a passion and hated writing them. Stopped sending them a few years ago and haven't regretted it.

NemophilistRebel · 20/12/2019 21:38

This year is the first time I’ve not bothered sending cards

It’s a massive relief

CandyCaneLane0 · 20/12/2019 21:50

6 so far, just from close family. Ds has about 15 from school

CherryPavlova · 20/12/2019 21:55

@lettersbyowl We put them up on strings across the mantlepiece in the kitchen.

thistimelastweek · 20/12/2019 21:59

Sounds odd but I don't really know. They're scattered around and some are still in the envelopes. Because I think the whole Christmas card thing is silly.
Let's also agree to stop it

MondeoFan · 20/12/2019 22:01

I think Christmas cards form part of the decorations so would be a damn shame if they ceased altogether

Sarahlou63 · 20/12/2019 22:03

2 - one in the post from parents in the UK, one hand delivered from neighbour.

Sent - 1 to parents.

LoveB · 20/12/2019 22:07

I really think it's such a shame that people aren't sending Christmas cards anymore. We're all getting so far removed from each other with our busy lives, no one has time for anyone else anymore. I like sending cards, I like thinking of each person as I write them, and I love to receive them too. It's a tangible connection to other people, and that's getting lost... in my opinion.

As a PP has said, by buying charity cards you are giving to charity, and you can also give a donation to charity as well. I also don't see any problem with supporting the post office - a great service which we need to hold onto!

charley50 · 20/12/2019 22:07

3 so far. Blush Least ever!

Gwenhwyfar · 20/12/2019 22:07
  1. I don't give any and everyone knows this so anyone who sends them to me knows they won't get one back.
Babyg1995 · 20/12/2019 22:08

About 60 from family, work and school expecting more to come there all in card holders on kitchen door it's nice to get them but they make me anxious as I have ocd and can't bear them on the side or mantel they just look cluttered to me .but I always send them every year hope it doesn't die out.

GoGoLego · 20/12/2019 22:08

By Christmas Day probably received about 60 as a household.

I've sent 40 only 2 by post all the rest by hand. Mum about 50

Gwenhwyfar · 20/12/2019 22:09

"About 30?

I don't do cards, haven't for years so everyone knows not to expect one from me."

I'm worried now. Someone who doesn't give any (like me) has received 30? Are they from friends or family or colleagues?

teenagetantrums · 20/12/2019 22:12

Am sitting here and counting. 15 through post from family l basically never see. A couple from neighbors. I have some more at work l must bring home. I sent a few to friends l don't see much and the relatives l never see. Is nice to get post that's not bills l suppose

Janus · 20/12/2019 22:21

Much less than normal, probably about 10, maybe 15?? But I’ve literally only sent to family and my closest, oldest friends so maybe 10–15 too. I decided that I’d donate to a children’s charity which organises presents for those who can’t afford Christmas this year. I just think it’s daft and stressful getting them all written etc but I could not give to my family and best friends.

Littleshortcake · 20/12/2019 22:23

About 15. Still send cards to close friends and family and wouldn't really like to stop

Ugzbugz · 20/12/2019 22:45

2 thank goodness as my DS seems.to have left them all at school, it's just clutter to me, a total disrespect for the environment and total waste of money, bah humbug 😂

steppemum · 20/12/2019 22:51

I've just written mine and it is 35.
Nearly all of mine are to people I don't really see. All mine contain a Christmas letter and all the ones I receive contain letters/news too.

I love them. But I don't send/give cards to the people I see evrry day really.

georgialondon · 20/12/2019 22:53

Half the usual amount so far

MrsJonesAndMe · 21/12/2019 06:39

About 15 and DS got about 20 from school Shock

Barbararara · 21/12/2019 06:54

3Sad
I buy cards from charities directly and am happy to support the local post office. I support other charities too. I don’t believe that people will give money to charity instead of sending a card. Maybe the first year but after that?
I’ve always recycled them into tags the following year. I think the Christmas card hate is a bit misplaced.

Caramel78 · 21/12/2019 07:02

About 12. I only get them from relatives these days as my friends (bar one) have all stopped doing them

teablanket · 21/12/2019 07:07

One. I love them but it's just not the "done" thing in my social circle.
