I'm planning on going this evening at 8 pm so it's as quiet as possible! Now reading this thread thinking it might be too early...

BrieAndChilli · 20/12/2019 11:34

@MsWoolf
See i'm stressing that 6am monday morning is too late!!
I'm sure it will be fine for all of us. I prefer going to the supermarket as i dont want lots of substitutions. at least when you are actually there you can find a decent alternative.

Christmas Eve 11-1pm collection slot for the meat items . Get the fresh salad , veggies and cream etc at the same time .

PinglePongle · 20/12/2019 13:43

Is it too early to buy Turkey? I feel like even the ones next week are likely to have 26th date on them too so maybe it's the same delivery of stock just sitting in the back?

MrsWhites · 20/12/2019 19:40

I’m going 6am on Monday too OP. Always done it day before Christmas Eve and never had any problems getting everything. Still gives you plenty of time to try somewhere else if anything is out of stock. I’m so sad I actually look forward to getting up and heading out that early!

neversleepagain · 20/12/2019 19:43

My Ocado delivery is booked for 24th.

queenbeeof3 · 20/12/2019 19:54

Call me crazy but I'll bravely do it on the morning of the 24th at my local Sainsburys. Whatever is available will come home with me and hopefully for a good reduced price Grin

mumsiedarlingrevolta · 20/12/2019 19:56

Pick up turkey from Copas farm on 23rd

Ocado order coming 23rd

will do last minute shop on 24th for missing bits and produce I want to pick myself

Raera · 20/12/2019 20:01

Non-perishables all done.
Click and collect Monday so have time to shop for anything not available.
Absolutely not shopping 24th.
Hoping there is some bread around on 27th as doing a drinks party with fish finger sandwiches as food.
No freezer room for bread now

FurryDogMother · 20/12/2019 20:13

I've got most things, just need to pop into town on Monday to get the fresh veg (and, no doubt, a few other 'necessities' that I've not thought of yet). So sprouts, parsnips and...erm...that's it, really, already have carrots and spuds. Must resist buying more cheese. Maybe.

OhTheRoses · 20/12/2019 20:17

Big delivery tomorrow.
Will go put pm to buy dinners for Sun/Mon and other bits.
Collect meat and ordered bits Monday pm
Last shop 7.30am Xmas Eve - fruit veg, cream, etc.

BrieAndChilli · 20/12/2019 20:31

@MrsWhites DD age 11 loves coming too, she’s been coming since she was about 5, she was most put out the year we went to MILs as it meant we didn’t do our 6am supermarket shop!!

OP posts:
desperatehousewife21 · 20/12/2019 21:27

Oh dear now I’m thinking tomorrow after work at 1:30pm at Tesco is going to be a Big Mistake.

I’ve still got so much to get, including stocking fillers and MIL present Confused and we’ve just today changed our Boxing Day plans which means I now have to provide dinner for the four of us and I have no food so I’ve made a long list of what I need but now have visions of not even being able to get parked Xmas Blush

Stravapalava · 20/12/2019 21:50

Sorry, you might not be able to get parked! I remember going to do my shop on about the 22nd and having to drive round 3 different supermarkets round the county before I could find a parking space!! Hope you are ok though!

Bonkerz · 20/12/2019 22:00

Tesco tomorrow with drinks and buffet and snacks. Asda on Monday with veg and fridge items.
Alcohol was done a couple of weeks ago and meat been in freezer for a couple of weeks too x
Very organised here.

Xmasbaby11 · 20/12/2019 22:04

Monday mid morning I think. We're not early risers so not before 10. My parents are bringing a lot of stuff though. I wouldn't have room in the fridge to buy it much earlier!

MrsWhites · 20/12/2019 22:07

@BrieAndChilli I have absolutely no chance of my dd coming with me, she doesn’t realise there are two 6 o’clocks in a day. I still remember doing it with my mum when I was a child so it’s lovely that your dd goes with you!

SweetPeaPods · 20/12/2019 22:07

OP same position here, I can’t decide whether to go tomorrow morning (but will dates be ok) or Monday morning. Just looked and our local supermarket opens at 5am on Monday so will it be packed/car park full by 7??!!

trilbydoll · 20/12/2019 22:07

We've been today. I will have to nip to Sainsbury's after work on Christmas Eve for a few perishables (mainly fruit and bread) but other than that we are done.

MrsJonesAndMe · 20/12/2019 22:09

About 8 on Monday. I am sure it will fine!

We're just feeding ourselves so doesn't matter if we don't get everything specific on the list - we'll be happy as long as we get fed.

PullingMySocksUp · 20/12/2019 22:14

We had most of ours arrive today. I’ll get green veg nearer the time.

teentree · 21/12/2019 01:09

I'm going at 11:30pm on Sunday. It's literally the only free time I have between then and Christmas!

lifeisgoodagain · 21/12/2019 01:24

Monday once mum arrives, she's paying apparently

DoorbellsSleighbellsSchnitzel · 21/12/2019 01:51

I'm aiming to go at 6am probably more like 8am by the time I drag myself from bed on Monday. If I don't manage that then I'll go late night Monday, which will either result in lots of bargains, or nothing there!

Baconking · 21/12/2019 08:04

I'm taking a risk this year and shopping an hour before closing on Xmas Eve.
Hoping to get some good price reductions by that point.
Shops are only closed on Xmas Day and only cooking for 4 so if no small turkeys left will get something else.
