Thank you @Unihorn for the title.

Just a reminder you can watch the thread by clicking on ‘watch this thread’ at the top of the first message. It’s much easier for everyone than so many place marking every time which can use up a fair chunk of each thread to scroll through Thanks

Grafittiqueen · 11/12/2019 12:06

I need ideas for (very) cheap but large things to bulk out the present pile. Has anybody got any ideas?

PaddingtonBearHardStare · 11/12/2019 12:11

I went in Aldi for a raclette. They didn't have any and I am now disappointed we can't have it for tea on Saturday even though I aren't 100% sure what it actually is 🤣

Themazeoflife · 11/12/2019 12:15

@Grafittiqueen what ages are they for?

1stMrsF · 11/12/2019 12:15

@thaegumathteth Thank you for those suggestions, surprisingly more camo in the shops that I thought there would be at this time of the year, but alas no pink dress.

Themazeoflife · 11/12/2019 12:24

Build a Bear have 25% off with the code on their website. Does anyone know from previous years if they are likely to offer a bigger discount as we get closer to Christmas? Don’t know whether to chance holding off, because the delivery charge eats into most of my saving at the moment.

thaegumathteth · 11/12/2019 12:34

@Grafittiqueen not sure if this is of any use but I'm making ds a hamper with his favourite foods we wouldn't usually have in the house eg fizzy juice, sweets, fancy popcorn etc?

wibdib · 11/12/2019 12:36

@Grafittiqueen last year someone was selling cheap blow up T-Tex (maybe mothercare?) that you could blow up and wrap to make a massive peasant very cheaply!

But if that’s not available then it shouldn’t be too hard to find other blow up items to use - think Poundland has a blow up Santa or reindeer and eBay and Amazon sell loads of inflatable things from penguins and flamingos to saxophones and donuts...

Or cheap cushions. Christmas edition of a comic with lots of extras (the Beano one is out now with lots of extra bits). Cheap football or frisbee. Wrap something small in a box in a box in a box in a box.... depending on how many boxes you have! Same present but you have to unwrap lots of boxes to get to it!

I8toys · 11/12/2019 12:52

I bought a little tea light raclette from Amazon. Everything is getting covered in cheese this Christmas!! Smile

BadgerFace · 11/12/2019 12:54

I need everyone to stop talking about Racklettes.

I thought I was safe as I’m never near an Aldi. Then popped out for lunch and was reminded that I work next to a Robert Dyas and it’s making me want to go in and buy one...!

[Do you think there will be a good January sales discount on a Racklette?]

BlueSkyAtChristmas · 11/12/2019 12:56

Suggestion for next thread title... “I’ve finished my Christmas shopping but I’m still here and now I want a raclette”

Yeknom · 11/12/2019 12:58

@Jammiebammie THANK YOU!!!

Lovemusic33 · 11/12/2019 13:10

I’m twitching towards the Racklete too, I don’t really have any friends to share it with and the kids wouldn’t be interested 😐. I’m also trying to cut down on my cheese intake.

margaritasbythesea · 11/12/2019 13:15

@Grafittiqueen if you like widdib's idea about the dinosaru I saw a huge dinosaur ballon in The Works the other day.

1stMrsF · 11/12/2019 13:25

Themazeoflife thank you, the boohoo one is pretty close to what I'm after as I think she means a maxi dress, but unfortunately sold out. Your search skills clearly better than mine though, I will try using some of those words to search Smile

Have all the marks voucher codes ended now. I need to buy a hamper and some other bits. I was one of the highland hamper customers Sad

nocutsnobuttsnococonuts · 11/12/2019 13:42

graffittiqueen what age for? my dds loved the year Santa delivered an ikea circus tent set up in the lounge with stockings inside. or I've got them the colour in dolls houses from hobby craft which are fairly cheap, they were half price at one point.

or I saw on Facebook people using 3 boxes from big to small decorated like a reindeer/snowman. so could wrap a present in each one but would look like a bigger present.

or things like fleece blankets, new sleeping bag for sleepovers, cushions all wrap up quite big.

alternatively scour facebook marketplace/eBay or gumtree for second hand toy bargains. my local is full of cheap large toys this time of year :)

Tooner · 11/12/2019 13:59

Got my Raclette from Aldi today. The box is bloody massive! It will have to live in the loft when not being used. This weeks Aldi leaflet has a Buffet Server for £29.99. Another massive thing to store but I think I'll get one as it will be handy for Xmas day and it can keep the Raclette company in the loft when not in use!
They are also selling a plug in single induction hob for £29.99 which will be very handy for some people.
