Couldn’t resist the title given the chatter about the hampers. Cross fingers they arrive and are fantastic or that refunds are fast and painless.

Just a reminder you can watch the thread by clicking on ‘watch this thread’ at the top of the first message. It’s much easier for everyone than so many place marking every time which can use up a fair chunk of each thread to scroll through Thanks

Here’s Barbarara’s instructions on doing clicks links:

Open double square brackets
No space
Paste link
Space
Name of link
No space
Close double square brackets

Like this
[[www.amazingbargains.com bargain ]] but with no space after/before the brackets.
If I do it again without the extra spaces only the word bargain will appear in blue

For more links etc see message 2

If any link doesn’t work or you want to add something please let me know in bold or @ me Thanks

My hamper refund came through today, even though they sent me the email about delivery dates yesterday

WisestIsShe · 08/11/2019 06:14

@Chippytheelf29 thanks for the Don't Panic tip.

IDontDrinkTea · 08/11/2019 06:26

Hmm... my hamper email got sent straight into my spam email folder... that doesn’t make me feel optimistic #hampergeddon

Reastie · 08/11/2019 06:30

I’m hoping to place an M&S order today for the blankets. Does anyone have a code? If it’s a single use one you don’t need please would someone mind pming it to me? Thanks

Thanks @Chippytheelf29 that's a perfect game for my dc

MeanMrMustardSeed · 08/11/2019 06:47

There’s is a great quiz / activity book ‘You think you know it all’, which would be great fun over Christmas. It’s about listing as many of something as you can think of, like Shakespeare plays or all seven dwarves. I bought it for £6 on amazon recently but just seen its gone down to £3 so bought two more. Would be a great sitting around on Christmas evening working together over a glass of something type thing.
So sorry I can’t link - keep trying to open it in website to get address but it defaults to the app each time. Def worth a look.

Thanks re Bletchley Park tip off. Have ordered that.

LutherRalph1 · 08/11/2019 06:47

Thanks for recommendations on speakers, will hang it out til Black Friday I think

NoWordForFluffy · 08/11/2019 06:48

@Reastie, I've PM'd you.

gaggiagirl · 08/11/2019 06:51

@Justonedayatatime11 yes it's a great TV. Did you get a good price for it ?

SushiGo · 08/11/2019 06:58

@stubbleturnips if you can hunt one done on ebay, the best harry potter board game is the lego one - imo. This link is amazon which has a ridiculous price! So definitely look elsewhere. Harry Potter lego board game

@Barbarara Marks has a lovely cheap tasteful penguin jumper - grey with loads of penguins dotted around. Not too ££ either and will be good quality.

@username2020 these aren’t ‘bargains’ but for a 6 year old boy (or indeed girl) at that price, I would get a beginner hot wheel set www.johnlewis.com/hot-wheels-track-builder-system-stunt-box/p3485235?sku=237373955&s_ppc=2dx92700046626666046&tmad=c&tmcampid=2&gclid=Cj0KCQiAno_uBRC1ARIsAB496IV3rD3TgyinvOMBjqgQefjS8GUT1JHb2VS2DmEeTFskSgqWUwBfsEsaAvJbEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds or Lego (there’s a yellow Ninjago dragon discounted to £15 at John Lewis and other retailers), or a science kit.

Shitfuckoh · 08/11/2019 07:09

I got the M&S penguin jumper for DS3 when the 20% off codes were doing the rounds.
It's fantastic quality & really lovely - especially for the price (it's also under the 3 for 2 offer)

Elpheba · 08/11/2019 07:16

My DB has finally given me suggestions of what to get my DN (2 months after first asking- he is NOT a bargain hunter!) and he’s said either barbie stuff or doll house furniture. I feel like I’ve already missed some barbie bargains but if anyone knows of any bargains for either then please shout! Budget around £35-40.

Barbarara · 08/11/2019 07:18

Thank you for all the penguin links! You lot are absolutely brilliant!

thaegumathteth · 08/11/2019 07:20

Do John Lewis ever for significant discounts? I'm wanting to buy something that's £349 ....

totallyLosingIt · 08/11/2019 07:24

@Barbarara I saw these in store the other day and they are lovely. They also do them in pink, if you wanted matching pjs for your kids (I was very tempted). They also have penguin onesies which aren't girly, so worth a look if you have an Asda nearby.

I've already brought 3 chocolate Advent calendars and now sat with lego p es in my basket...

They really don't need them.

I'm twitching hard!

andi76 · 08/11/2019 07:38

Amazon are advertising a 'hidden gems sale' today - no idea if there's anything good
hidden gems

AstrosFan · 08/11/2019 07:42

@MeanMrMustardSeed thank you for the tip off on that book - it is perfect for DH so have ordered it. Shame I’m not buying for my dad in the family secret Santa this year because it would be perfect for him too and I never have good ideas for him!

StubbleTurnips · 08/11/2019 07:46

SushiGo that looks bloody perfect, I’m on the case.

Raindancer411 · 08/11/2019 07:56

What is this amazon tree people are buying? I couldn't see it on the thread

EvilHerbivore · 08/11/2019 07:57

@StubbleTurnips or 'muggles against humanity' if the recipients are adults!

princessbear80 · 08/11/2019 07:57

I love that penguin sweatshirt linked above, might get it for DS. I bought him a similar cotton sweatshirt from the M&S 3for2 range earlier in the year. My son is by no means big for his age, but there is no growing room whatsoever in his usual size, so I’d recommend sizing up.

Christmascookiesmmmm · 08/11/2019 08:05

If anyone wanted to buy the most comfy bamboo socks (BAM clothing) I just managed to do a referral code for myself, so got 15% off first order and if I wanted to order again it takes £10 off £50 spend plus free socks. Also free delivery this weekend. I just bought the 5 pack black socks for my mum so worked out as around £15 including delivery :) Not going to share my referral as it has my name in, but it was very easy to use it myself! Just click ‘refer a friend’ on homepage and it talks you through, you don’t have to place an order first.

Now a favour to ask! We’ve never had a real tree before but are wanting to get one this year- would anyone recommend a Christmas tree stand? I’ve heard some are useless so if anyone has had one for years that they stand by please let me know :) thanks!!
