Thanks @VividImagination for title.

Just a reminder you can watch the thread by clicking on ‘watch this thread’ at the top of the first message. It’s much easier for everyone than so many place marking every time which can use up a fair chunk of each thread to scroll through Thanks

Here’s Barbarara’s instructions on doing clicks links:

Open double square brackets
No space
Paste link
Space
Name of link
No space
Close double square brackets

Like this
[[www.amazingbargains.com bargain ]] but with no space after/before the brackets.
If I do it again without the extra spaces only the word bargain will appear in blue

For more links etc see message 2

I wonder if some of the savvy posters who raised the alarm about the hampers would mind sharing some tips. I know about trustpilot and will check on there if a site seems a bit off, but how do you find out about company history, directors and their criminal records? Do you have a process that you go through before ordering with an unknown company? I suppose I’m looking for an idiots’ guide to online shopping. This thread has such a friendly vibe that I click on every link without a second thought. The only reason I didn’t order a hamper this time is because the shipping cost was too high where I am. Hopefully it will all work out and be fine but it’s a wake up call to me for how naive I’ve been. I really would appreciate some common sense tips.

@AstrosFan I can’t get my head around orange after eights or chocolate mikados either but chocolate kimberleeeeeeys [pause to wipe away drool] are lush Grin

AstrosFan · 06/11/2019 06:18

No, no @Barbarara - not Orange after eights, Mint Orange after eights. As in, mint and orange mixed!!!

AstrosFan · 06/11/2019 06:20

Argos toys offer that Snooky17 mentioned is now live - spend £20 on toys and get 20% off with code TOYS20. Excludes gaming, accessories and adult bikes.

As always, check the prices before you buy in case they are mysteriously 20% higher than they were last week.... Wink

Barbarara · 06/11/2019 06:46

@AstrosFan bleurgh!

TakeMeToYourLiar · 06/11/2019 06:47

Surely a mixture of mint ones and orange ones. Surely!?!

Barbarara · 06/11/2019 06:58

That would be the chocolate equivalent of drinking orange juice after brushing your teeth Grin

NoWordForFluffy · 06/11/2019 07:14

@Barbarara, you check companies and directors at Companies House.

Some companies are new and haven't filed accounts yet. If their accounts are overdue or they keep shifting personnel then they might be dodgy / in trouble.

You can click on each director to see previous companies and if they look like they're fond of Phoenix-ing (closing a company to get rid of debt but then opening another, almost-identical, company instantly), then they're likely dodgy.

NoWordForFluffy · 06/11/2019 07:16

Those After Eights sound minging!

lifelongfrugaleer · 06/11/2019 07:23

Those after 8 are wrong in so many ways

NaturalBlondeYeahRight · 06/11/2019 07:29

I’ve fallen for a dress on Joe Browns, signed up but no code yet. Anyone seen a code around? I swear they are one of those company’s that send out a lot of them.

Goingovertosusanshouse · 06/11/2019 07:36

The dressing gown arrived yesterday, it’s lovely and a total bargain at £20! Thank you to poster who posted about it.

AstrosFan · 06/11/2019 07:36

Apologies for derailing a marvellous bargain hunting thread with disgusting chocolate, but if anyone wants to take one for the team, and report back on the taste of orange juice after brushing your teeth in chocolate form, then we’ll all eagerly await your feedback.

Limitedsimba123 · 06/11/2019 07:39

@gaggiagirl can you post a link to the tarte offer please, I can’t see it but am unsure if I’m on the right site. Thanks.

gaggiagirl · 06/11/2019 07:47

@LimitedSimba123 I most certainly will! It usually goes live around lunch time ish , last year I was checking the site from midnight like a loon!

FallenSky · 06/11/2019 07:51

Just a heads up, if you order toys via Argos eBay you can get the 20% off PLUS another 10% TODAY ONLY (6/11) with the code PRISTINE if you spend over £50.
I've just managed to get the furreal cubby bear that DD is desperate for for £50.60 which I'm chuffed with. Was holding out for black Friday but can't see it going much lower than that.

RJnomore1 · 06/11/2019 07:52

Ithink I’m done for mil bar a box of chics abd a pocket diary. Maybe still s travel coffee cup if I see a deal anywhere. She’s done pretty well thanks to this thread as per usual!

Very have £10 off a £100 purchase abd the funk pop calendars down to £35, several other discounted items in the Christmas section too.

LazyDaisey · 06/11/2019 07:54

I don’t want to be negative about the hampers - but as they are 3 young adults who just started a company, I think it’s only fair to point out their promotion was, buy one hamper AT FULL PRICE then receive a code to buy 2nd hamper at 40% off.

They shouldn’t be obligated to honour new orders with 40% off.

moobar · 06/11/2019 07:56

@PaddingtonBearHardStare I thought I used PayPal but for some reason when I went to raise a dispute it wasn't there and I had used debit card. My fault.

Goingovertosusanshouse · 06/11/2019 07:59

@FallenSky how did you get the 20% off? I’m only getting 10!

Shitfuckoh · 06/11/2019 07:59

Yes but it was a little foolish of them to put the code on their open Facebook page.

BigmouseLittlehouse · 06/11/2019 08:00

@LazyDaisey re the hampers. The offer is on their Facebook page with no reference to need for a previous purchase. In fact it’s advertised as for those that missed out last time, so it isn’t linked to having purchased before.

BigmouseLittlehouse · 06/11/2019 08:02

Sorry ignore me - the latest Facebook post does mention a previous purchase ( an earlier post didn’t) sorry @LazyDaisey.

Anthropologie has 25% off coats and winter wear today ( although to note their customer service isn’t great!)
