Got a load of gifts at the garden centre today, made major inroads which is fab :)

Also saw a Christmas village there which was amazing!

Now home to carve pumpkin, eat pizza and hand out sweets :)

We've done one pumpkin. The other is doing!

I've got two loads of washing dried today, plus cleaned the bathroom and kitchen, including emptying the fridge and rearranging it! I've also put loads of washing away. Oh, and made gingerbread shapes (only a few men!) with the kids. I do less at work! 😂😂

I love the Christmas village, Emrys! 🎅🏻🎄

Neros, how are the toes?!

Happy birthday miniNero 🎂

Lovely pumpkins Fluffy and that Christmas village is fantastic Emrys

Shopping with DH had mixed results. It was lovely to just stroll around and browse but he decided against the thing he thought he wanted for Christmas (something techy) and instead found something for his office in John Lewis. We didn't buy it there and then as he likes to check if there are reviews and see if there are similar items available elsewhere for comparison so he's been researching this afternoon.

I did manage to buy his birthday present (for the new year) and I bought a box of outrageously expensive Hotel Chocolat crackers.

I didn't get to the sweet shop because I had DD1 with me and she spotted a couple of her students in there so we power walked past Grin I do need to go back to town as one of the parcels I ordered wasn't in store this afternoon so I'll have another mooch tomorrow or Saturday.

CrazyBaubles · 31/10/2019 20:03

Woolly what a shame about your shopping trip, especially the sweets!
DH is a teacher at a fairly local school and I'm getting used to being hustled out of shops or have him wander off when he spots one of the kids from school 🙄

Constantly I'm being brave with the cross stitch sets - I made my very first one a few weeks ago.
What Christmas planner do you have (and will you post a pic pretty please?)

Wreck how was / is London?

Fluffy I stole the snow dog kit idea from you, yours looked so cute.
Take it easy with your poor wrist (I've just had to correct that, my phone changed wrist to rust Xmas Grin and legs.
Lovely pumpkins 🎃

Happy Birthday MiniNero 🥳

Emrys what garden centre was that (you're fairly local to me I think). It looks lovely.

I have a cross stitch question - if I use white thread and cross stitch around my robin to cover the fabric, can I then sew it to plan cotton to make a small cushion?
I'd quite like to turn it into something to give as gift (other than a picture) and this is the best I could come up with.

WreckTangled · 31/10/2019 21:28

We just got home! School of rock was really, really good. Not sure it tops Matilda, maybe on par. The dc were really well behaved too. Just going to bed now.

Great pumpkins fluffy

Emrys I love the winter village

Mrsmadevans · 31/10/2019 21:32

Happy birthday to your little boy Nero 🎂🎈🎉🎁🍰🧁🥳😁
Fluffy the pumpkins are amazing! Well done , hope your muscle strain is better 😊💐
Em well done on your Christmas pressies and l too would love to know where the garden centre is m'dear 🤗 love the display!
Woolly pity about the shopping trip but it sounds as though you enjoyed yourselves, even though you didn't get DH his Christmas present 😊
Hotel Choc crackers sounds delish! 😋😋😋
Have not had one caller tonight 🥺. I bought loads too 🙄 . I think the weather must have put them off though 😣 it's been bitterly cold , we have had the heating I since 3pm much to DH chagrin 😄
Hope everyone had a great Halloween 😊
Off to watch the Met 😄

NoWordForFluffy · 31/10/2019 21:37

I've had the heating on loads, Mrs. The wind was blowing directly at the front of the house, so it wasn't retaining heat.

Crazy, I'd probably sew it onto backing fabric and then sew it onto a cushion cover, if that makes sense?

My cross stitch is coming on nicely. I wish I could do it in the car as I've a long journey tomorrow! I'd be 🤮🤮🤮 though.

Hello all
Been on half term hol with v bad WiFi
Boys have had a great time with their friends (staying in a big house with other families)
However just had the bad news that DSIS has stage 4 lung cancer. She has months left. I'm at a complete loss on what to do and how/when to tell the boys
I may dip in and out of the thread but Christmas spirit is a little low at the moment obviously
That said, DSIS would be cross if we sat about sobbing so will have to woman up and get on with things

EmrysAtticus · 01/11/2019 05:59

Crazy and Mrs it is the Blue Diamond Cardiff one (actually on the outskirts of Newport not in Cardiff). It's one of my favourite places and luckily DS loves it too as it has little trolleys, fish you can feed, a nice cafe and even a little soft play.

(I always lose count if it wasn't me the day before!)

Morning!

Dentist this morning, then off down to my family overnight. We won't even be there 24 hours as we need to get back for fireworks tomorrow night!

I've got a bit of a sore throat today. Hopefully it doesn't worsen.

WreckTangled · 01/11/2019 08:10

Morning. My hips are sore this morning after walking yesterday. We had a great day though I love going to London. Although I would like it even more if I had endless amounts of money. Dd tried to get us to buy her six books in Waterstones but we compromised on two (£16!). We went to Bella italia for lunch and they do bolognese with veg spaghetti so that was good for me.

I'm working in the toy shop today and tomorrow really don't want to but need the money. I haven't heard about the job so assume I didn't get it which is fine but still leaves us poor Grin

Anyway happy November! Xmas Grin

WreckTangled · 01/11/2019 08:27

Chocolate so sorry to read about your dsis I hope you can all enjoy a very special Christmas together

NerosFiddle · 01/11/2019 08:47

Chocolate I'm sorry to hear that.

Mrs and fluffy I agree re bones in cold weather. I broke my kneecap years ago and it gets really stiff as soon as the temperatures drop. I find putting a hot water bottle on it for a while at night helps. The same is bound to happen my toes in a few years ago. They're definitely broke as I still can't put them to the ground. I have them taped up and just have to hobble about. Que sera.

Thank you for DS's birthday wishes. He seemed to have a great day. Mostly because he had so many sweets. It's only once a year so he's allowed.

The fog was so bad this morning when I left DS to creche. Could barely see your hand in front of your face.

Don't know if I mentioned but I got dh Christmas present. Ryanair had a sale on last week so I booked all 4 of us to go to Liverpool in March. It was £95 return.

NoWordForFluffy · 01/11/2019 08:59

Chocolate, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to ignore you, I was rushing.

I'm so sorry about your DSis. I hope you can at least have as nice a Christmas as possible together. Flowers

Mrsmadevans · 01/11/2019 15:59

Afternoon everyone Smile
Chocolate hope your Dsis is as well as can be expected and you are able to spend a lot of time with her, making her feel loved and cared for and getting your head around the terrible prognosis. I hope you have been contacted by Macmillan , they will help so much , bless you all my dear. Flowers

Mrsmadevans · 01/11/2019 16:13

Wreck , the London trip sounded absolutely marvelous , l wish l could go Smile have a good time in the Toy Shop, even though you don't want to work there, it must be quite nice seeing all the lovely stuff out there for Christmas , l do have a penchant for the Cuddly toys Grin.
I can't get over the veg spaghetti in Bella Italia that is brilliant!
Hope your hips are less painful now Flowers
Wow Nero you had a bargain and l am sure your DH et al will love it!
No fog here at all , just rain rain rain , but it is much milder today , Grin
Glad your DS had the most lovely birthday ahhh it takes me back, bless them Smile, I hope your toes and knee is soon ok !Flowers

ConstantlyCooking · 01/11/2019 18:15

Chocolate I am so sorry to hear about your Dsis. I hope things go as well as they can and that you have a lovely Christmas. My DDad died of cancer two weeks after his birthday 3 years ago, it is strange but I can enjoy looking back on the birthday itself (which was his last really good day) as we were all able to celebrate with him and he really enjoyed it as well. It was a light moment in a difficult time and I hope Christmas will bring many such light moments for you and your family Thanks

Morning!

We're all in a hotel room meaning the kids wouldn't go to bloody sleep last night. DD then woke me up at 5.30 crying (I think she had a bad dream, but DH sorted it as he's in with her). I've been awake since. Sigh.

We're off to the park to ride on the merry go round after breakfast. Then it'll be a trip to my parents for a bit, then home.
