Neros, come back!!! We need to know what was so amazing (other than Centre Parcs!).

I've had a productive day in that the bathroom and kitchen were cleaned before 9am, we all had haircuts and then I went to the allotment and did almost 4 hours of weeding and clearing. I feel like I actually achieved something there today!

Thanks Wreck. It sounds a little preachy but after some very tough skint years we can actually afford to give a little so I've signed up to this, DH has agreed to something similar and we plan to donate to the food bank (we do that most weeks anyway but this will be a mini shop rather than a handful of things).

If you go and see the lights please take pics. I've never done London at Christmas so I'm jealous.

Well done Fluffy, you must be exhausted!

I am celebrating Xmas Smile I've been very busy but apart from a trip to Tesco (vouchers) and the Entertainer for 1 toy, I'm pretty much done with shopping.
After that I need to pick up stuff for my dads hamper and make a few things and that's it, I'll be done. I feel like this now though --> 🤯

Am just about to go and pick up a 'merry' DH who has been in Cardiff since 12 🙄

WreckTangled · 16/11/2019 20:23

Crazy I love London but it's so close I go often. I've never been to any other big cities in the UK and would love to Smile

Dh's family have set up a secret Santa with a £30 limit so that's £60 we weren't planning on spending at all as we weren't going to get anyone anything!

Mrsmadevans · 16/11/2019 21:01

Evening everyone 😊
Nero please let us know what has happened this week m'dear. I hope it's really fantastic for you all. 😁🤗
Woolly you and me both going to every shop in creation 🙄
Firefly girl thank you for asking about Mum, she's alright just about , l really can't do any more to look after her, it's impossible. I can only do so much 🙄
Well done with the clearing out , you put me to shame 🤗
Wreck sounds like a good day to me, all is well with you and yours 🤗
You don't have to spend the whole £60 be clever and get bargains, like the onesies you found 😄
Crazy thank you for your kind words re Mum , l am finding it hard atm l feel very stressed☹️. I will be fine 😊👍
London at Christmas is fantastic, there's a buzz about it , the lights are beautiful on the bus journeys better shift , have a good night everyone 🤗

Mrsmadevans · 16/11/2019 21:04

Fluffy , well done in the allotment and the cleaning, you did great !
l must shift myself and get organised 🙄😁
Am wondering what has been happening to Nero ! Do we think it's a lottery win? 😄👏Hope so 🤗

WreckTangled · 16/11/2019 21:04

Mrs I would but they added items they want on a wish list Angry I think that takes the joy out of it a bit tbh I was looking forward to choosing a few things but basically I have a list of £30 items to choose from.

Mrsmadevans · 16/11/2019 21:09

Oh no Hmm. Wreck that seems pointless to me too , bgr ! You could try Asking them on the bargainous thread they are marvelous on there .l bet they will be able to source the pressie cheaper Flowers

WreckTangled · 16/11/2019 21:11

Yes I will take a look and see what I can find. Dh has just had to go to work to sort the alarm. He's also taken a crowbar HmmGrin

Mrsmadevans · 16/11/2019 21:20

Your poor DH Wreck it's the last thing he needs on a Sat night, l hope they pay him extra for attending bless him! Smile

FireflyGirl · 16/11/2019 21:20

Sounds like the back up plan, Wreck Grin

Bit gutting about the secret santa - that's a lot of money if you're not expecting it!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 16/11/2019 21:46

Oh sometimes a neighbours alarm goes off and I would love a crow bar to ease it off the wall and disconnect the wires .
Ok I'm fibbing, smash the blardy things to pieces more like Xmas Blush

I took some items to the Charity Shop over the last couple of days - I made whoever was available go with me as moral support and carry the bags Xmas Grin while I got some exercise .

If Nero has won the Lottery is she going to buy the Mumsnet Property Porn House for us all to Timeshare ?

WreckTangled · 16/11/2019 21:55

I hope so 70 and she'd better get the professional Christmas decorators in.

Dh is back and alive Grin he will get paid for it.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 16/11/2019 22:10

I have a 1kg bag of sultanas soaking in Amaretto .............need to work out what size tin and what recipe proportions to use now .

FireflyGirl · 16/11/2019 22:36

Just a spoon, 70? Grin

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 16/11/2019 22:59

Xmas Grin what you mean sit there and eat the Anaretto soaked fruit out of the bowl ?
I'll be too sozzled to find a cake tin let alone line one Xmas Blush

NoWordForFluffy · 16/11/2019 23:37

Wreck, we've opted out of DH's family Secret Santa. We couldn't be arsed afford it for a few years, so now just don't get included by habit. He'd say no if asked if we wanted to rejoin anyway, as he hated it!

If you can't opt out, you may still find the presents on the list cheaper elsewhere.

We've wrapped almost all of the Christmas presents tonight. It was really speedy with the new tape dispenser in action. We watched Die Hard and drank blag Bailey's while we were doing it! We've only 3 left to wrap, and they're presents from family members to the kids.

I've almost done panel 5/6 on the cross stitch. It should be done by next weekend, hopefully.

It's moving so fast now! Scary actually. It's a good job I'm nigh-on done.

I need to find time to wrap DH's presents at some point too. I've hidden them everywhere, so I need to find them first! Xmas Grin

OP posts:
WreckTangled · 17/11/2019 07:32

It's the first year they've done it so can't opt out. I will get the list and see if I can find anything elsewhere cheaper.

I don't even have any wrapping paper yet! Might have some from last year actually will have to look.

Fluffy is your tape dispenser a heavy one like in my office? They're pretty good maybe I should get one. (I think I remember it from the bargain threat but didn't get there in time?)

Today ds has football but we're going to see my nan and grandad before. They're the best.

NoWordForFluffy · 17/11/2019 08:15

It's my bargain thread dispenser, yes! It's revolutionised wrapping! Xmas Grin

I'd still opt out of the SS, but I don't care what people think about me. 😂

Morning all.

I'm afraid this has been built up too much Xmas Grin I haven't won the lotto. Although I did win a Christmas themed pub quiz and got a free week in Center Parcs.
It was such a good week just because it was the first week since dmil died that everyone was healthy and happy. We did stuff as a family that we normally don't get time to do and as cheesy as it sounds, we made great memories.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 17/11/2019 11:42

We did stuff as a family that we normally don't get time to do and as cheesy as it sounds, we made great memories

and that ( to misquote Proverbs 8:11 ) is more precious than rubies Xmas Grin

(I had to Google , I could vaguely remember a phrase about 'more precious' but I don't know the Bible off pat) Xmas Wink.

CrazyBaubles · 17/11/2019 12:48

Wreck how annoying to announce a secret Santa now! What sort of thing have they asked for?

Fluffy what sellotape dispenser? The bargain threads move too fast for me to keep up with.
I bought a bulky one from eBay a few years ago but am now concerned I've missed something 🤔

Neros So glad you had a nice week, and well done on winning a free week at Centre Parks.

I've spent hours rooting through pics this morning. My mum is a technophobe and has been talking for ages about printing some photos for an album and a big multi pic frame she bought. I figured I'll print off about 100pics, buy her an album and add them to her Christmas present.

Going out for lunch shortly, then going to start a crochet Christmas cushion this evening - pic attached of the 2 I'm considering. Please help me decide which one to go for (it's for a friend who has a bit of a thing for seasonal cushions).

NoWordForFluffy · 17/11/2019 13:04

I like the Santa one, Crazy.

And it's a bulky one from eBay which cost about £6. Bargain for the time it's saved me!

Neros, that sounds lovely! Can you take the free week whenever you like?

OP posts:
WreckTangled · 17/11/2019 13:39

Love the cushions they'd look great.

I've got fil and there's whisky, a weather station, a wireless charger, beer, a book and an aftershave.

Ds' team won football. I can just about feel my feet again!

NoWordForFluffy · 17/11/2019 15:51

Did you do a list too? I think you should!

I'm pretty sure one of those will be available more cheaply somewhere.

I've attempted to clean the oven today. DH didn't rub the cleaner onto the oven sides though, so it was a nightmare. Next time he needs to do that so it actually cleans!
