I actually have longer legs than DH, despite being 2 inches shorter. But I'm wildly out of proportion! (Though apparently my torso is still longer than normal despite being a relatively small part of my body, as regular tops are never long enough!)

It's definitely easier to see over a big car when you're shorter! When we can get rid of the lease car we will only be able to afford a small one which is fine but I do like my big one especially living where we do. So pleased it's my last working day of the week. Have a blood test first then a pretty easy day (will see about 30 children compared to the 110 yesterday!)

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 07/11/2019 07:42

Oh , thinking about my first car ( casts mind back through the ether)

I passed my test first time aged 18 ( much to my surprise) and bought an ancient mini . I called him "Bryan"

All my cars are male and all have names Blush

NoWordForFluffy · 07/11/2019 07:43

Funny really. Though I've seen cars of all sizes with people driving who clearing can't really see properly. Or have a safe driving position. 😱

CrazyBaubles · 07/11/2019 10:38

Similar story here with the mini flouncy - I pump the seat up and push it forward. DH has to push it all the way back and down to the floor so he can fit 😂

I'm another shortie (not quite 5ft 2) and the Xtrail was definitely easier to navigate than some of the smaller cars I've had.

We hired a Ford F-150 when we were in Canada and I had to use the step it was so tall. It's DHs dream car but it's bloody huge!

70 I'm an equal opportunity car namer Xmas Grin I've had a Daisy, Steve, Kirsty, Mike. I've also had The Beast (green corsa) 😂

In work today and struggling. I'm so tired. Am also hormonal and in a bit of pain (period started today ☹️). I watched a segment on The One Show yesterday with a young boy with CP who had been bullied and was now part of a sports team. I cried at how hard things were for him and then went down the rabbit hole of thinking about my nephew. DH had to snap me out of it.

Just have to get through work (only 1 meeting today)! Then DM's for tea and to see the niece and nephews for cuddles (which will def cheer me up).

I'm the exact same. I pump the seat up as high as it will go. Dh is 6"1 so just does the opposite. I find the higher up I am the easier it is to see out of junctions.

Off to a class now for advanced talkers with dd. It's the 1st day of it and for some reason I feel really nervous.

Eugh I'm having such a bad day! First of all our road is flooded I got through but then remembered that I needed my blood form so had to go back through the flood twice and was late for my appointment. I then couldn't get onto the internet at the school I was visiting because of their proxy settings then a man hit my car and had a go at me saying I needed to watch out for his dog which I had seen and was at the side of the road. I had slowed down and moved over anyway. His dog wasn't on a lead either. His wife did apologise to me but still really upset me. Blah. Also my laptop is broken at work and it's taken them four days plus a shitty call from me for them to send out an engineer 🤯🤯🤯 anyway I ended up having cake which will mess up my sugar levels but I needed it.

On the plus side the leaves are beautiful and the sun is shining

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 07/11/2019 12:51

Wreck what a shit day Flowers

(When you say the man hit your car was it his hand/fist rather than another car)

Yes his dog should be on a lead on the road , I'd have told him I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt because it's not the dog's fault his owner is an irresponsible arse Angry

Yes to Cake

RoseToes · 07/11/2019 13:25

Wreck that does sound shit. I’m glad you treated yourself to some cake though❤️

I’ve had a productive morning, I’ve managed to get a lot of work done, so I can spend the weekend doing what I want.

CrazyBaubles · 07/11/2019 13:41

Sorry flouncy, I didn't mean to upset anyone. Your cousin sounds like a character.
I don't know what happened to me yesterday. One minute I was watching, next I had tears on my eyes but also felt kind of furious with anyone who may bully him I'm aware he's 2 and lovely so this is ridiculous

Wreck 😡 at the man who hit your car. His dog should be under control if he's near the road, not the other way around!
Was the cake nice at least?

I'm just back from my lunchtime stroll. It's cheered me up, I stumbled on a little Christmas shop (pic attached for the locals).
I bought some Christmas cards. Back at my desk now but dm has called me. She's doing homemade curry tonight and has bought sparklers for the kids so should be a nice evening.

Yes he hit the car with his hand. My day got even worse though because then my colleagues laptop stopped working so we had to do everything by hand. There was a van stuck in a ditch (so at least I'm not the only one having a bad day...) meaning I couldn't get through and had to turn around and come the long way home then as I got out of my car I tripped and fell over ripping my only decent fitting jeans and really hurting my knee. Just had a little cry but still not feeling any better. Still have school discos, football training and somehow dinner to fit in tonight.

WreckTangled · 07/11/2019 14:59

Sorry for the woe is me post Blush

RoseToes · 07/11/2019 16:01

I can drive but I don’t. I much prefer to walk, and DH drives if we have any far journeys. DH loves cars, he’s named all of his cars, ours is Melissa at the minuteGrin.

wreck I’m sorry you’re having such a crap day, I hope you can settle down tonight and wake up and have a much better day tomorrow.

CrazyBaubles · 07/11/2019 16:26

flouncy his walking is coming along really well. He has a frame - it's a bit like a zimmer frame with 4 wheels but he has it behind him. He gets a bit excited and tries to go too fast though so he's fallen a few times. He battles on though and his splints will be here soon.

I know what you mean about a bit of anger. Generally in my family it's me that pushes for things while dsis is laid back but she's really dug her heels in and fought for him - without this he wouldn't have had hydrotherapy, as much physio as he has and she is currently fighting for help with housing as she's in an unsuitable private rental. She's quite impressive when she gets going 😊

Wreck 💐 (because you're not allowed 🍰 or 🍫). What a shit day. I hope your knee is ok? Can you sew the jeans? And maybe get DH to take over this evening to keep you away from anymore mishaps?

I can't remember the reasons for a lot of the car nicknames. Daisy was from the last 3 letters of the reg. Kirsty was the Xtrail (after Allsop, industrious and pretty if you like that kind of thing 😂). The beast was a diesel that used to kick off when you wanted it to start on a cold morning. Mike was after the mechanic because they spent so much time together 😂). As you can tell, we've been through a fair few old, cheap cars as we never had any money!

I'm on a countdown. 35 minutes until I can leave. I now have the most horrendous cramps (sorry, tmi)

WreckTangled · 07/11/2019 16:31

Thanks. Dh is picking dd up but can't help with anything else. I've just curled dds hair for her. Jeans are ruined and in the bin. They were only Sainsbury's but they were the best pair ever!

Our car is called Ken. The kids named him. My first car was called Git. Because he sometimes was!

Oops. Pressed send too soon. I'm standing up on a rammed train so I'm trying to balance too!

Wreck, sounds like a shitter of a day. I think you should have Wine or Gin to get over it!

And that bloke was an arse. Stupid idiot. I'd have shouted at him. I'm a fishwife when I get going!

I’m having an awful night!. I am not switched on enough to work but I have to, I’m trying to get it done but I’m just not in the zone. DS1 has been having a right strop all night and I’ve lost my temper with him. DS2 won’t go to sleep. My DM and DGM had a huge argument earlier that I got dragged into. I’m excited to go to bed and hopefully tomorrow will be better. DH has been lovely bless him, he’s popped Christmas music on Even though he doesn’t usually like it until December and he’s settling DS2 down. Hope everyone’s having a better evening.
