It took me 5 months and 2 tests to pass. I hated learning, I found it really stressful.
I worked in McDs then and my dad used to bring my little Peugeot 205 (4 gears and manual choke 😱) to pick me up and make me drive home.
I am a summer birthday and my boyfriend at the time was born early September. He has been driving for 6 months ish before I could have a lesson Envy
Dsis was like a duck in water, passed first time, took her less than 3 months.

Glad your dd is keeping her chin up Woolly

MrsMad I bought my cross stitch kits off love crafts too. Brilliant service and they send you more voucher codes to say thanks for your first order.

I'm just home from work 😴. Tea now, not sure what DH is cooking.
I'm bloody freezing, I cannot get my hands to warm up at all, they're like this every winter as soon as the weather turns 🥶

NoWordForFluffy · 06/11/2019 19:06

It's bloody freezing here! The house is struggling to get warm. Clearly I'm destined to be cold.

I'm finding this year quite chilly though. Maybe I'm officially old?!

I learned in a Fiat Uno. 4 gears. Rock'n'roll!

Not like the BMWs etc you see now!

Me too Fluffy. I've resorted to fingerless gloves and my woollen slippers (DH is so lucky, these teamed with my 'at home only' cardigan make me a very attractive prospect Xmas Grin).

flouncy I can't actually remember but I'm going to guess not. My dad bought it for about £300, it had 4 gears and if you got as high as 65/70mph it rattles and sounded like it was going to explode 😂
I also never actually managed to start it without help because I learned through a lot of cold weather and couldn't figure out the choke.
Luckily my mum donated me her Astra (that was a 1.9 turbo diesel and was terrifyingly fast for me) after I passed as she upgraded.

PS gloves and slippers are helping, I'm starting to warm up now.

Fluffy I think it’s cold this year too and I’m still fairly youngWink. I’m hoping it means we’ll have snow this year.

CrazyBaubles · 06/11/2019 19:47

It's not quite as bad as the dressing gown of doom (DH has a hoody of doom and I use his dressing gown when I'm ill because I can practically sink so far into it you can't see me Xmas Grin).
At home only cardi is one I bought in a sale years ago. It's a soft grey but it's a bit bobbly, I've lost the belt, it's now too big for me and the dogs are allowed on me when I'm wearing it.

I'm not sure on a fave car. I've never had a new one. I loved my Ford Puma (was like lightening for me and so comfy to drive). Favourite though would be a toss up between my mini and the Xtrail we had. I love a 4x4.

Right lovely ladies, I am looking for something similar to these (pics). I fell in love with the Cox and Cox ones but they've sold out ☹️.
I know they're not for everyone but our tree is made up of decorations that either mean something to us or are from places we've been and this summer we ticked seeing bears in the wild off our bucket lists. These would be perfect. If anyone ha seen anything please let me know.

4th time to pass here Blush

My first car was a purple Corsa called Max. No power steering, and for some reason the radio wouldn't work in winter 🤷 , but I could park him with 6 inches back and front! I really really loved that car. My dad made me sell him when his brakes/handbrake went Sad

My last car was an Astra, which I liked, but DH's parents gave us their 1 year old car when they moved to France, and mine had the higher mileage, so I have DH's Peugeot and we gave the Astra to DSIL (no favouritism, btw - she doesn't drive, so had no use for the new car and we technically gave ours to her housemate who drives her around!)

The cars were icy this morning, so I'm celebrating by watching a Christmas film Xmas Grin

TheWoollybacksWife · 06/11/2019 20:51

I mostly don't feel the cold - we kept the summer duvet on all year round last year but DH is away and I was chilly last night. I may take a HWB to bed with me tonight.

Crazy could you find someone to needle felt you a bear? Maybe do a shout out thread in Arts and Crafts or have a look on Etsy? There are a couple of MNers who are pretty skilled if the Woolly Hugs Christmas sale is anything to go by.

FireflyGirl · 06/11/2019 20:53

Your neighbours are enthusiastic, flouncy!!

My cats have absolutely no interest in anything apart from food and cuddles fireworks.

WreckTangled · 06/11/2019 20:56

My first car was a P reg Renault Clio. After that I had a Peugeot, then another Peugeot, then an Astra then another Peugeot and now I have a qashqai but it's a lease car which costs me a fortune. We're in the awful place of not being able to save enough to buy a car that doesn't end up costing us hundreds of pounds every year and I need a car for work (and everything as no public transport).

I passed 2nd time 21 years ago when I was pregnant with DD2. I did get 100% in my theory test before they made it hard with hazard perception stuff

My first car was a 208 and was a pile o'shite. I couldn't wait to see the back of that. Then I had my beloved Jazz with its giant boot, then a Citroen 7 seater to accommodate 4 grown ups and a big car seat and now I drive a Seat. One of these days I'll get a car that is more fun but for now I still need practical.

Not what you want l am sure but l liked it Smile

Chocolateteabag · 06/11/2019 22:24

Citroen AX here - loved that car - it was freedom as we lived in the sticks in West Cumbria

Crazy - how about a Schleich Bear** with a tab glue gunned on? Link is to their website but they are all over the place obvs
Or the Works have this needle felt kit in their buy 2 for £10 offers - cant see if a bear is included but you could maybe have a go? I'm tempted to

NerosFiddle · 06/11/2019 23:20

My first car was a Citroen saxo. It was originally red but was so old when I got it, it was pink. The rain had washed most of the paint off.
I'd love to own an Audi Q5 but I'd never be able to afford it. I'm only 5"1 so like big cars so I can see over the wheel.

NoWordForFluffy · 07/11/2019 06:13

Morning!

The first car I owned was a MkII Fiesta. It was great, if basic!

Nero, isn't it harder to see over the wheel in a big car?! I'm 5' 11", so have no clue about being short!

DH's Colt was pink by the time we said goodbye to it. Paint doesn't fade now though, I think it may be as it's more plastic, but I'm not sure.

Dire weather today. Really wet. Might need a boat!
