I also think it's awful someone asking for a roomba, especially from someone in sick pay! The only time I can see it being OK to ask for something that expensive is from a partner with shared finances.

I would buy them a dustpan and brush if someone asked me for a roomba.

ASpookyUsername · 27/10/2019 15:47

I think she'd be okay with an imitation as long as it works. I think she's more interested in having one as DSis has an imitation roomba and DM thinks its fab.

still incredibly expensive.

Is she getting you a gift that cost hundreds of pounds?

ASpookyUsername · 27/10/2019 15:56

What about ideas for the other giftees?

I don't want to NOT do gifts this year. Trying to find everything as cheaply as I can.

To the PP - she provides free childcare (before the sick leave) and helped with the housework whilst I'm at work. She does a lot for us and she normally doesn't ask for anything for christmas but this year she does have her heart set on the robot thingie. Maybe I'll see if it could be a group gift and get DF to chip in too.

BeauticianNotMagician81 · 27/10/2019 16:10

@Changingagain I just saw your comment to @NeedMoreTea regarding the Playmobil calendar. I had ordered this for ds4 aged 3 but he does still put things in his mouth. I've gone for The Snowman and the Snowdog calendar instead. Possibly still small parts but it says suitable from age 3. The Playmobil one states from age 4.

Nordicwannabe · 27/10/2019 16:12

Group gift from all of you including DF sounds sensible @spooky. If she has her heart set on it, that would be better than you each getting her something she doesn't want.

Think about whether you need it to be WiFi enabled and programmable. If not, you can get one with decent reviews from Amazon for £90 (obviously do a bit more research first).

WiFi-enabled starts at around £250, with the roomba 671 currently £264 (best ever price on camelcamelcamel is £240, seems to average around £280)

Kidstart has a £125 voucher for some high end electricals, but not vacuum cleaners unfortunately.

allatonce99 · 27/10/2019 16:17

Sorry! The Boux code does say it is on full price styles only. No idea why the £1 delivery code wont work it just says select 1 day delivery then add code....
I have never used the HUKD site so will look at that too, thanks!

ASpookyUsername · 27/10/2019 16:22

@Nordicwannabe how would I get the kidstart voucher? £125 could pay for other presents!

PoopaPoopa · 27/10/2019 16:48

Has anyone had their Smashbox deliveries yet (the gift set, I can’t think what it was called but it was two people’s names)? I didn’t have a confirmation email but the money has come out so hopefully it’s on the way. I’m sure I ordered it around a week ago though and all the other things I’ve ordered have come a lot quicker.
Thank you so much to the pp who posted the Debenhams advent calendar. I cheated and opened mine when it all came today as I’m dividing it up into presents (and keeping some for myself Grin). Really pleased with it, absolute bargain.

IveGotALovelyBunchOfCoconuts · 27/10/2019 16:52

We bought this last month when it was on a lightening deal - really happy with it! It's quiet enough that we can let it run after the kids have gone to sleep. There is a £35 off voucher at the moment but as we got it lower than that, maybe see if it goes down even lower on BF? Eufy BoostIQ RoboVac

Does anyone know if there’s any way to get discount or offers on the micro sprite scooter? Any sites that would do discounts like 20% off etc, or did anyone manage to get one in Black Friday last year?
My DD has just announced she would like a 2 wheeled scooter for Xmas and think this one is the best? Also aware I’ve missed out on getting it from Smyths with their vouchers a few weeks ago so loathe to pay the £95 now - since I got into these threads a few years ago I really dislike paying full price Grin
For anyone who wants a 3 wheeled micro Jojo Maman Bebe have 20% off £100 spend and micro scooters included - SPEND100 or SPEND60 for 15% off £60+ spend, ends tonight

Shitfuckoh · 27/10/2019 17:03

I ordered the 6 small Yankee Candles from Yankeebundles yesterday. Figured I could combine with chocolate or something for DS1s teaching staff (he's in a SEN school & has 4 or 5 in his class!). I know not all teacher appreciate candles/chocolate but I know there's defo 3 in his class who LOVE yankee candles!

@PumpkinKing you're welcome. I think it was mentioned on the last thread but these threads are moving so quickly recently! I got a couple of Happyland and 1 ELC toy for DS3 under the offer

Nordicwannabe · 27/10/2019 17:03

@ASpookyUsername, sorry I forgot to mention it was with John Lewis! Not sure whether you have to go through Kidstart (a cashback site) although definitely makes sense to get the extra %. Thanks to the PP who mentioned kidstart!

The voucher is only if you buy from a select set of high end tvs, fridges, ovens, coffee machines etc. Great if you're going to anyway, but too expensive to really be a Christmas money saving tip!
John Lewis offer

Shitfuckoh · 27/10/2019 17:05

@Namedecisions Sorry I don't know much about scooters so I don't know if they sell them in Argos but they have their spend £100 get a £10 voucher offer on at the moment? (think the offer is on until the 29th October)

MrsLeclerc · 27/10/2019 17:07

@ASpookyUsername Aldi has craft bits that may suit your DD and great baby toys for 8 month old. They had lots of wooden sets and a lovely set of Guess How Much I Love You blocks.

For the nephew perhaps try Clearance Shed for Marvel themed bits. They have bags, water bottles, books, play doh sets etc.

For DH amazon has a book about the Bond cars that he might like www.amazon.co.uk/Bond-Cars-Vehicles-Alastair-Dougall/dp/1405355352?tag=mumsnetforu03-21

My dad’s a gardner and I’ve seen the Hori Hori knife recommended but Amazon have a cheaper version with good reviews.

ASpookyUsername · 27/10/2019 17:11

thank you.

where is the amazon code?

luckygreeneyes · 27/10/2019 17:13

Got sparks early access to M&S advent calendar today so just ordered

ASpookyUsername · 27/10/2019 17:13

will check out aldi too, thank you!

IveGotALovelyBunchOfCoconuts · 27/10/2019 17:17

@ASpookyUsername if you're looking for the £35 off voucher for the Eufy on Amazon, it's just under the price - you just tick the box.

oxcat1 · 27/10/2019 17:22

Thanks @scrappydappydoo : will look into that. Never heard of it!

@Batbear: also great, thanks. I have actually bought a few of these for some other boys on the list (4 aged 7-9), but I thought only one per sibling pair? Can't play with two simultaneously?!

I also receive an email to say that loads of my Kite order from House or Fraser has been cancelled as 'temporarily out of stock'! I'm very annoyed as that wAs several kids ticked off the list, and now I have half sets of things arriving. I don't understand why their stock system doesn't manage this better? Some things were showing as out of stock when I ordered, so not sure why all of this didn't? Very annoyed with them!

Mabellucieattwell · 27/10/2019 17:35

Thanks @BunnyBerries! Just ordered those books. A real bargain!

WatchoutfortheROUS · 27/10/2019 18:10

Some great bargains on here thank you everyone, I've almost done with my shopping so hoping for a more relaxed run up to Christmas this year Smile

If anyone has a £10 Boden voucher they don't need and could pm me I'd be very grateful, DD1 wants some slippers but I can't really justify them even. Thank you

unkindnessofravens · 27/10/2019 18:20

L'occitane are doing their Christmas baubles in a 3 for £30 offer (usually £12 each). I got these for teacher gifts last year and they were great

Anyone any ideas for a 13 year old boy who loves reading / football and PS4 for an advent calendar. We've always done Lego etc and last year he had the Harry Potter funko pop one but I'm struggling for ideas this year....

Also wanting a make up sort of one for dd but she's only 9 so hoping something from Superdrug??

HUBBLEBATRISQUE · 27/10/2019 18:27

Ooooh ooooh! I've already mentioned The Loving Nature, but they have just launched gift sets which are better value (about 25% off value of items) and TLN63 gets 10% off that... and there's no minimum spend for free P&P which is always appreciated here! 🌱❤
