It was mostly-dark. I fear it is patchy. Tomorrow will tell! Grin

We have a Hotpoint Aqualtis which is 4.5 years' old. It seems ok!

CrazyBaubles · 21/10/2019 20:11

What a bloody day! Started with a car that wouldn't start (£80 new battery) and ended with a meeting in which I was basically asked to through a colleague under the bus! Rubbish all around really.

Has anyone heard from @WheelchairWoes ?

Only upsides have been DH surprising me with shortbread (homemade by a colleague who is teaching himself to bake) and spotting the council workers putting Christmas lights up on my way home.

Fluffy could you get DH to do the lawn while you're at work? It must have been freezing doing it this evening!

MrsMad what a lot of drama with your dm! I agree with flouncy - stay well clear of that argument.

Can you try a hot toddy? I had a few (both with and without whisky) when mine was at its worst and it helped.

70 glad you are feeling ok. What is a medical flight? I've never heard of it.

I third the cruise suggestion - we've done 2 and they were both amazing (and require very little work on my part).

Wreck do you all have the same bug but your DH is acting like he's more ill than everyone else?
I'm mean a bit harsh and don't give sympathy in those cases!

CrazyBaubles · 21/10/2019 20:13

*throw a colleague not through Blush my brain is frazzled

WreckTangled · 21/10/2019 20:16

Yes crazy! He reckons I don't have it as bad as him. He keeps doing this cough which is over exaggerated and being really fucking annoying.

I was wondering where wheelie was too.

Mrs hope you fight it off!

Fluffy I'm impressed my your lawn mowing in the dark!

I still haven't done any interview prep. I really can't be bothered by the time I finally sit down in the evenings.

NoWordForFluffy · 21/10/2019 20:28

DH works while the kids are in school. And then he has the kids! Mowing is one of my jobs too and would've been done yesterday had it not rained.

It wasn't fully dark and wasn't too cold!

Sounds like a crap day, Crazy. Flowers

Fair enough Fluffy - I don't know why but I thought he was a SAHD. Like I said, my brain is frazzled today.

Wreck is he accepting any medication? My DH complains of feeling ill then treats me like I'm trying to poison him if I offer him paracetamol / ibuprofen 🙄
Infuriating isn't it? I'm lucky that DH doesn't do it often, preferring to pretend he's fine resulting him being ill for longer than necessary but my dad, FIL and BIL always have everything worse than everyone else. You have my sympathy.

I'm going to try and finish my cross stitch tonight to distract myself from my bad mood. I don't think I'm going to outline it like it says to in the pattern - what do you think?

WreckTangled · 21/10/2019 20:45

You're so talented. I can't even thread a needle Grin yes he's currently sipping on a lemsip between pathetic sniffles. He didn't bother asking how I was/how my day is when he got in so I'm not sure how he knows that his cold is way worse than mine. I'm fine because I'm not a big wuss Grin

Mrsmadevans · 21/10/2019 20:56

Crazy you poor thing it is horrible being expected to do it Flowers , l had it happen once. l defended the colleague only for her to turn the tables on me! Thank you m'dear will try a hot toddy before bed Smile
Your bloody car! It was a tyre last week wasn't it?
Am staying well clear of the row don't you worry Hmm
Wheelie will be back l am sure , busy doing Thanksgiving l expect .
Wreck come on m'dear do a bit of prep for it , you can do it ! Yours for the taking Smile Am wishing you the best of luck m'dear. Thank you re the cold l will be fine l know, have dosed myself up to the eyeballs Grin

Mrsmadevans · 21/10/2019 20:58

X stitch Robin looks Fab well done Crazy Xmas Grin

Chocolateteabag · 21/10/2019 21:34

Evening all. Sorry I've been quiet for a few days. Nothing bad, just RL getting in the way!
Have made a small start on my Christmas prep - replaced the chocolate oranges I scoffed while worrying about DSIS (99p at Aldi to replace the 75p Tesco bargains) and bought some pre-lit twigs (also Aldi) Now wondering if it's too early to out them up as decorations?

DSIS is improving - hopefully moving to a hospital nearer which will make visiting a bit easier. Still don't have any test results back yet which is difficult as we don't know whether to relax yet or not

70 - sounds like you've been through the wars too! What is the hospital like in Turkey? Thank goodness for smart phones & translator apps! Hope you can get home soon.

CrazyBaubles · 21/10/2019 21:43

Thank you Wreck. If it helps, I tend to agree with my dad when he's more ill than anyone - lots of "oh I know, it must be awful being the most unwell person on the planet. Mum has the sniffles but you? I'm surprised you're still walking" etc. It tends to make him stop acting sorry for himself (when I'm there anyway).

MrsMad yes, my car is a pain in the arse but it's over 20 years old and is considered a 'classic' 😂 I don't like the new ones so want to keep mine but it seems to be one thing after another. In the last year it's been all 4 tyres (at different times), a new clutch, alternator and now battery 🙄

chocolate no news is good news for now I think. And it's never to early for prelit twigs - they're not Christmas decorations per se, just pretty lights no?

Sorry to post so much of my cross stitch, I'm just not sure about doing an outline. I think I've finished now but the patters says to outline it all in black but I think that may ruin it...

CrazyBaubles · 21/10/2019 21:44

Pic would help wouldn't it Blush

Cute robin, Crazy!

DH was a (mostly) SAHD; he's picked up more hours as a support worker for his brother, so he fits it in around school hours.

RolytheRhino · 21/10/2019 21:49

Guys! Hot toddies are awesome. Made bog all difference to my cold, but I am SO relaxed about it.

Brrrrrrrr! Still chilly here! We've now set the heating on timed for an hour in the evening. Mornings are still really only the weekend as the kids will sit under blankets before school and they're not really about long enough to need it. I always get up to a cold house as the boiler wakes DS, so we don't have it on before I get up! 🥶

Another busy day ahead! So much to do!

Oh no, Wreck. I hope you're not getting the bug I had.

My dear old dad (that's what he calls himself) is very rarely ill thankfully (and he's d mum carer both 82). He had flu a few years ago my dd was 5 or so. Could hear her on the phone "grandad are you sick ? Man Flu? Mummy says that,s much worse than other flu". I could hear poor dad coughing and chuckling trying to console her that he was ok but her mother (me) was an evil old baggage 😄

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 22/10/2019 07:59

I'll need to check out the delights they are the a annual flu jab .it's a bit Russian Roullete if I have a reaction or not. ( I will wait till after my holiday I thought.
