wreck YAY for hanging the washing up!

Firefly i find random things in our chest freezer from my DH too lol

Fanny Ohhh with the tracks that makes a lot of sense. We get some helicopters from the local Guard. It's not often though just when they go to training a few times a year. And unfortunately the lifeline helicopters

Is it too early to think about what to serve for Christmas dinner? I don't want to do the same foods as last year. What do you all eat for Christmas dinners? We'll be doing it on Christmas Eve. I'd love some ideas

NoWordForFluffy · 08/10/2019 20:19

Christ. Stop bloody talking! I can't keep up so can't post as I'm always behind!

Anyway, GBBO. 🎂 🥯

Neros funny you mentioned Irish twins - Dsis said this about her 2 (there are 10 months between my niece and nephew) and she was told sharply that this is offensive to Irish people and she shouldn't say it again!

Dave I've actually managed 2 naps! One around lunchtime and again at 5 - which just shows that I'm unwell I think, especially as I can barely keep my eyes open now.

And lol at you being secretive. I did the same - used to alter niece and nephews ages slightly etc but I posted about my
Holiday and anyone who knows me would have picked me out on the itinerary as we didn't go to the most usual places 🙄

PS my guess is Leonardo (I'm assuming L is a boy, not sure why).

wheels your new Christmas tree looks lovely.

Emrys your plans sound perfect 👌🏻 I always feel bad, we've spent just 1 Christmas with MIL in 16 years because she can't leave her business (part boarding kennels, part rescue centre, part small holding) and DH doesn't ever want to go there for Christmas, I'm not sure why.
We tend to run away every other year just to escape because both our families think it's a bit weird that we would like to spend a chunk of the day just us and the dogs - apparently this is not allowed if you don't have kids to focus on all day Hmm

Lol fluffy, the threads gone a bit nuts the last few days hasn't it?

I'm starting to worry a little about Christmas dinner. We can't find anywhere open where we're staying (Mull) so DH is saying he will cook but I'm not convinced we'll be able to get much by the time we get there (22nd Dec). Ah well, if we have to survive on cheese, crackers, chutney and cake I'm sure we'll be fine Xmas Grin

I am now online Christmas shopping. I like to look on Not on the High Street and Rex London for ideas then see if I can find a more affordable version elsewhere 😂

NerosFiddle · 08/10/2019 21:52

Crazy there was a thread on here maybe a year or two ago about using Irish twins. I don't find it offensive and I'm Irish.
Have you looked on the bargain thread for well, bargains Xmas Grin

DaveTheGhost · 08/10/2019 21:58

Thank you Wooly, well done to your DS!

Firefly is right with Luca!

Mrs thank youGrin our road is full of bright colours and when I got the house it was a horrible green so I’m quite happy with the new look :)

Fanny jumping on the bandwagon and calling you Fanny nowGrin. Lanfranco is ace!, I’ll have to change their names to Algernon and Lanfranco😂. I’ve given ‘Algernon’ a hug from you ‘Lanfranco’ is also coming down with something so they’re both in with me. Fingers crossed for a good nights sleep. I might release my new range of FU paints 😂.

Wheelie it isn’t Christmas without pigs in blankets!

Fluffy enjoy your crumble!

Crazy check you out! Sleep is the best medicine, I hope you manage to get better soon. And I just thought oh well! I don’t post anything I wouldn’t want anyone else to know so if they see me then what’s the problem. I just feel weird saying DS1 or DT2 as they’re both the same age (and if I’m quite honest I’m not 100% sure which one was born first😂).

Well I should try and get some sleep now. Goodnight everyone!

WheelchairWoes · 08/10/2019 22:17

dave I'm going to throw in my vote for Lisa or Lenora! We do love pigs in a blanket! Do you guys do them like we do or is this one of those situations where same name and a completely different food like biscuits and chips? lol

crazy Does your DH not like dogs? haha because if my MIL owned a kennel I think I'd be like 'NOPE! Sorry ma!' lol I think getting away for yourselves is fantastic.

Add in some wines with the cheese, crackers and such sounds good to me. I had to google what chutney was lol

Joe's off to work. Looks like 2 coats of paint in the hall was all we needed. There are a few spots that need a bit of a brush to go over but it's almost done! I'll post pics when it's totally finished and we figure out what kind of curtain to hang up lol I did consider instead of a curtain to do some of the clear overlay that frosts up the window.

FireflyGirl · 08/10/2019 22:35

Yey me! does proud strut

I really like Luca, it was the name of a very nice Italian boy in my Halls of residence when I lived in Germany. DH vetoed it along with nearly every other name, it's a miracle DS isn't still called Baby!

Hope the rest helps you feel better, Crazy.

Re: your Christmas dinner, if you can't get turkey etc, you could go non-traditional? Whatever you like best. Otherwise, I don't know how remote Mull is, but I reckon you should be able to scrounge up a decent roast dinner from somewhere.

I'm jealous of your crumble, Fluffy. Our neighbours have lots of apples off their tree that they let you take, and I thought about making one tonight but decided to sort the freezer first. Not sure it was the right decision... Confused

Wheelie we'll be having turkey (some of the supermarkets are offering a version that you cook in a bag, perfect for stopping it drying out!) and then a joint of beef that I found in the freezer, but is only from earlier this year thankfully! Grin in the slow cooker.

Chocolateteabag · 08/10/2019 22:36

Dave - Luca is lovely, my guess was going to be Lyra for a girl as I couldn't think of a boys name not already guessed Blush

Had a bit of a knock today, CT scan has shown what is very likely small tumours on DSIS's lungs. Still lots of tests to do and still might not be C, but they are preparing us for it being that, which will mean it's spread from brain to lungs or vv. DM & I have had a good sob, then trying to get on and be strong. She has been moving much more today so once they've done tests, might get her off the respirator and sedation by the weekend and maybe she'll wake up more.
We are knackered, but finding it hard to sleep, thank God for WiFi and mn
(Not googling anything)
Going to look at advent calendars tonight and where I can book for DS's to see Santa

Chocolateteabag · 08/10/2019 22:38

And I've found QVC Christmas shop on the hotel tv!

DaveTheGhost · 08/10/2019 22:42

Wheelie L is a boy called Luca. Leonora is gorgeous though. Pigs in Blankets here is sausage wrapped in bacon, usually smaller sausages too. I’ve attached a picture!

Firefly Luca is my favourite of the two, (names, not childrenGrin). When I went on holiday to Italy when I was little there was a boy there called Luca, he was gorgeous, so I always said my son would be Luca. I just liked Arlo, there was no special meaning behind it.😂

The days are getting shorter; the clocks are going back...let's countdown to Christmas 2019 (thread 6)!
WheelchairWoes · 08/10/2019 22:46

OMG! Dave revealed the name of ds! Luca is a great name! (I totally missed that on the first read through!)

Firefly Last year we did a roast. I think a turkey is a good idea. I also considered a ham or chicken gyros haha go all strange and not traditional!

Oh Chocolate Honey that would be terrifying to hear. I'd have a good long sob too. Does the hotel at least have a nice tub for some relaxation if need be? I'm still thinking of you all

We need to figure out some photo sessions here. We've not done professional photos since...2017? So I think we'll do some Christmas portraits this year.

WheelchairWoes · 08/10/2019 22:49

OMG dave it's not the same at all! I'm laughing! I wondered if we were going to find a new food with the same name and not the same!

Pigs in a blanket here are wrapped in a biscuit (scone I think you call them?) and baked here. It's usually hot dogs or small sausages and we use the premade dough in a can and wrap em up and bake em

DaveTheGhost · 08/10/2019 22:58

Thanks wheelie that looks like a sort of mini sausage roll to me

FireflyGirl · 08/10/2019 23:17

There'd be a riot if I served those up with Christmas dinner, Wheelie Shock

But I don't think we'd call them scones - scones are what we eat with jam and cream (apart from cheese scones). Definitely more like a sausage roll.

I have loved DS's name ever since DSis introduced her first boyfriend. We haven't mentioned this to DBIL 🤭

Chocolate Flowers Cake and Gin for you all, fingers crossed it is positive news.

FireflyGirl · 08/10/2019 23:19

Scones

WheelchairWoes · 08/10/2019 23:36

Nope that's it! firefly and Daveghost we call those biscuits. That's what we wrap around the sausages. :)

Here let me dig up some pics! This is our biscuits! We can buy them like in a dough roll of which I'm posting a photo of too.

You take them out of of the can and stretch them around the sausage and bake them. It's really a kids meal haha

Morning!

This is a pig in blanket! 🐷

It's chucking it down out there. What a lovely sound to get ready to. Sigh!

Isn't it funny that things with the same name, supposedly deriving from the same language, are so different! 😁

Morning 🌞
Wet here but warm .
DH watching the rugby so we are not going to go out. My sister is doing Mum today.
Chocolate omg l am so sorry my dear. Your poor sister. 💐
If it is the worst news there is so much they can do to treat her. Hugs my dear 😘

DaveTheGhost · 09/10/2019 08:05

Sorry Chocolate, I didn’t see your post. I’m sorry sorry, please update us with any news. Try and take some time out for youFlowers

wheelie they’re completely different to our biscuits, it’s so weird!.

I’m not having a good day today. Feeling a bit down in the dumps about everything and my anxiety is bad. But at least I’ve got the day off work because the boys are ill. I think we’ll just have a duvet day today for all of us.

Mrsmadevans · 09/10/2019 08:08

Fluffy l love pigs in blankets especially at Christmas. The very best ones we had were from Marks and l did try a few runs of them before hand 😂. I Even made my own but nope not a patch on the Marks ones.
Luca is a lovely name and goes very well with Arlo

Mrsmadevans · 09/10/2019 08:10

Damn l posted before I meant to 😁
Wheelie there is a huge difference of opinion here re scones , how they are served and pronounced 🤣 you have done it now 🤪😀

DaveTheGhost · 09/10/2019 08:12

Thank you Mrs 😊. They’re deffo pronounced Scons, and it’s jam then cream.
