Thread 5 - The Mumsnet bargain thread - spreading the squeaky clean, ethical love!

Reastie · 28/09/2019 08:29

So it’s not a thread all about ethical stuff (good grief there’s a lot of plastic tat that’s been purchased by me from these threads over the years) but with our current obsession with soap bars and shampoo bars and then I think it was fireflygirl who did the quote and it tickled me.

Just a reminder you can watch the thread by clicking on ‘watch this thread’ at the top of the first message. It’s much easier for everyone than so many place marking every time which can use up a fair chunk of each thread to scroll through Thanks

Referral link here . Use this to post any links where you can refer a mner and you or both of you get an incentive. For ease and fairness please don’t post these on the main thread.

If any link doesn’t work or you want to add something please let me know in bold Thanks

Thank you everyone who has helped me with the wooden train sets query. It seems brand doesn't matter at all so I'll keep my eyes open for a bargain between now and Christmas. Thank you so much - I really appreciate you taking the trouble to try to help point me in the right direction.

HereBeFuckery · 02/10/2019 21:49

@PinkDaydreams you could always create a 'new' account with a new email address (postal address can be same) 😉

EvilHerbivore · 02/10/2019 22:11

Don't know how good it'd be but - Dancing Robot on Amazon
Use the code QFJKD2VB to get it reduced from £41 to £8.20

CharlW1 · 02/10/2019 22:14

Thank you for the Paperchase - got some great bargains, ticked another 2 presents off my list!

wibbletooth · 02/10/2019 22:15

@recklessgran have just spotted that Bigjigs do a great Santa in sleigh with reindeer for about £9 and brio have an advent calendar this year if you want christmasy railway? Couldn’t see a price on the advent calendar but guessing not very much of a bargain!

Fuckingfuckssake · 02/10/2019 22:17

It's been gently pointed out many a time that there is a specific referral thread, and it is mentioned in the op, I have no problem with people being nudged in the right direction.

trilbydoll · 02/10/2019 22:24

We have some Wilkos (or similarly cheap) wooden railway and it isn't brilliant with Brio, it's got plastic connectors and they need jamming into the brio! BigJigs and IKEA stuff is fine tho.

NoWordForFluffy · 02/10/2019 22:25

Bit like Wilko Lego then, which is awful.

sideorderofchips · 02/10/2019 22:27

I’ve been around for 8 years or so I think now of bargain threads

And only once maybe a couple of years ago was referral links an issue

Otherwise no one gives a shiny shit really.

SaveMeFromMrTumble · 02/10/2019 22:28

@daphine2004 that is very interesting, i didnt think of music magpie, thank you 😊

RJnomore1 · 02/10/2019 22:29

Hooray it’s the annual festive fallout!

Can we have it over and done with as early as possible this year? 😬

thaegumathteth · 02/10/2019 22:31

Hi everyone! Thanks for the thread :)

I have been on previous years with different usernames - bought first couple of Xmas gifts now though so ready to pay attention to all the bargains there are to be had.

NoWordForFluffy · 02/10/2019 22:33

I don't want this to turn into a cookie jar-style spat! Xmas Blush I just felt the bit about 'finger pointing' was unnecessary and blatantly not true in the context of this year's threads at least.

NoWordForFluffy · 02/10/2019 22:35

Fuck. Too late, @EvilHerbivore!

And we already had this debate on the first thread too. I thought it was done then, hence wondering why it had resurfaced.

Anyway, I need to sleep. I'm recovering from flu (perhaps I'm recovered!). Xmas Grin

I'm glad paperchase has been useful, I find them great quality but expensive, so sale is always worth looking at

HelloSweetlings · 02/10/2019 22:45

My last post as I don't want to clog the thread. I really don't want a cookie jar spat either but your comments were uncalled for Fluffy

I think people are conflating tracked links (a) and referral links (b)

(a) tracked links
My DC loves this product and I bought it at a absolute bargain price. *Mumsnet may make a comission if you purchase this but the poster has no benefit except the nice feeling of recommending something others might like

(b) referral links
My DC loves this product and I bought it at a bargain price *I also receive an extra discount if you click this link but I didn't want to mention that, I have a vested interest in recommending this product / I might be here solely for this reason

(a) is discussed every year on more than 1 thread and the general consensus is nobody is trying to sell anything

(b) it's not an unbiased post, the poster gains something hence there is a dedicated thread and as you can tell it makes me suspicious.

gaggiagirl · 02/10/2019 22:50

I got my DS that dancing robot last year and it's arm fell off in about 3 minutes and it was really noisy and annoying so beware!

Crackery · 02/10/2019 22:56

Thanks @Youryour I used your gousto referral. Have put my referral code on referrals thread...

TreeLinedMotorway · 02/10/2019 22:57

Does anyone remember when we all ordered that brilliant robot for an amazing bargain? And the company fulfilled the orders despite the price being a typo on their site.

NoWordForFluffy · 02/10/2019 23:02

I must've missed the robot. I remember IWOOT doing exactly the opposite with a blender though!

NoWordForFluffy · 02/10/2019 23:04

Moo!

BrylcreamBeret · 02/10/2019 23:09

Out of stock for the super drug 3p shower moisturizer :( I don't mind but I was genuinely hurt and betrayed that they wouldn't sell me Raffaello chocolate!
I recall the free set I had from Superdrug last year and I gave it to my Mam who liked it so much she asks about it now!
The sweets and chocolate on the Superdrug site are good prices and they have the little chocolate coins in pink foil which makes a nice change :D

Creambeforejam · 02/10/2019 23:37

Dr Botanical SCRUB50 code only seems to be working in America. Gutted I missed AUTUMN50 code. How has anyone sorted this? Sadfatface here.
