Thread 5 - The Mumsnet bargain thread - spreading the squeaky clean, ethical love!

So it’s not a thread all about ethical stuff (good grief there’s a lot of plastic tat that’s been purchased by me from these threads over the years) but with our current obsession with soap bars and shampoo bars and then I think it was fireflygirl who did the quote and it tickled me.

Just a reminder you can watch the thread by clicking on ‘watch this thread’ at the top of the first message. It’s much easier for everyone than so many place marking every time which can use up a fair chunk of each thread to scroll through Thanks

@Youryour thanks for the gousto code - ds1(8) is getting in to cooking so I think I'll get that for next week and he can choose/help out when it comes

Hedgyhoggy · 02/10/2019 19:18

@WhereTheresAHill Thanks so much, I've ordered Scrawl 14+, it'll be perfect.

Changingagain · 02/10/2019 19:50

We have two sets of the tesco wooden train tracks and they're great. We also have lots of extra bits from Aliexpress, one needed one of the holes filing down a bit but the rest are perfect. I think they're one of the things were you get pretty much the same thing regardless of the brand.

KittyMcTitty · 02/10/2019 19:52

@Duckyneedsaclean I blame you - I have ordered the Harry Potter great hall!!! (I shouldn’t have! I already indulged in the smiths sale!)

Milkfreemoomum · 02/10/2019 19:55

@paddingtonbearhardstare I tried that code and it doesn't work?

EstoLargo · 02/10/2019 19:58

Gravitrax starter set is almost 25% off through Amazon - was £39.99 when I looked last week.

@waitwhatoh (I think- apologies if I have tagged the wrong person). I would avoid a bamboo cup for an eco gift as some studies have recently suggested most of them aren't terribly good for you or the environment.

Another kind of reusable cup is great. Also we had bamboo stuff (before we realised) and it breaks when dropped really easily.

PaddingtonBearHardStare · 02/10/2019 20:11

@Milkfreemoomum I haven't actually tried it but received an email today:

I got a CCC alert for the Playmobil pet hotel - £39.99 at Amazon or at Smyths. Almost bought it at Smyths last week but glad I held out!

WaitWhatOh · 02/10/2019 20:14

@starryeyedsnowgirl oh what?! I can never quite keep up with what’s actually good anymore Confused I’ll look for a metal one then? Assuming plastic is not very eco.

SleeptightDaisy · 02/10/2019 20:21

Thanks for the paperchase code got a few bargains but missed out on a lovely East End Venice print down to £5 with the extra off still selling at £19.95 on East End website. Does anyone know a code to get the prints cheaper? Would love to get Dh a few from our travels

HelloSweetlings · 02/10/2019 20:24

Just a reminder that there's a referral thread here

Please don't post referral links here, otherwise people start pointing fingers about making a personal profit and that's not what this thread is about

NoWordForFluffy · 02/10/2019 20:27

The only person pointing a finger is you, @HelloSweetlings. Nobody has chirped up until you did!

Someaddedsugar · 02/10/2019 20:29

@WaitWhatOh try a glass and cork Keep Cup - they’re amazing! I’ve had mine for 2 years and it’s still going strong.

HelloSweetlings · 02/10/2019 20:32

Well yes Fluffy it seems poor form to post a recommendation on a lovely generous thread like this without disclosing it benefits the poster.

It's been asked since way back when these threads started that people don't post referral links here

PinkDaydreams · 02/10/2019 20:37

Added some bits to my Paperchase basket. Oh I hate having to pay for delivery! They even charge for click and collect which is annoying

NoWordForFluffy · 02/10/2019 20:50

But everybody is happy on here, @HelloSweetlings. Can you see anybody moaning (other than you)?

We already had this discussion on the first or second thread. We all said we didn't care. So maybe don't come on and bitch plop on a thread you're not actively involved in!

Why are you policing the thread?

NoWordForFluffy · 02/10/2019 20:51

@PinkDaydreams, I think I'd not bother out of principle with that. Seems rather bloody tight!

PinkDaydreams · 02/10/2019 20:56

@NoWordForFluffy I’ve abandoned my basket! Hate companies charging customers to click and collect. They’re delivering other stock to the store anyway, a lot of the time customers that click and collect will have a nosey round the shop and pick up something else too therefore spending more money.
I’ll stop moaning now.
Please resume the Christmas festivities!🎄

Milkfreemoomum · 02/10/2019 20:59

@PaddingtonBearHardStare oh ok its a half price sale. The code doesnt work but some products are half price. Thanks for the heads up
