Thread 5 - The Mumsnet bargain thread - spreading the squeaky clean, ethical love!

Reastie · 28/09/2019 08:29

So it’s not a thread all about ethical stuff (good grief there’s a lot of plastic tat that’s been purchased by me from these threads over the years) but with our current obsession with soap bars and shampoo bars and then I think it was fireflygirl who did the quote and it tickled me.

Just a reminder you can watch the thread by clicking on ‘watch this thread’ at the top of the first message. It’s much easier for everyone than so many place marking every time which can use up a fair chunk of each thread to scroll through Thanks

You can get 20% off any big potato game on amazon using code brogan20. Dino dump is meant to be really good.

Whitecandle · 01/10/2019 16:44

@LazyDaisey I totally agree with DW home candles. I rate them so much!!!

Whitecandle · 01/10/2019 16:45

@LazyDaisey keep an eye out for a Christmas one. It's a black jar. With a gold lid and a tartan bow on the lid. White label. Can't remember the scent but omg it was unreal.

imsorryiasked · 01/10/2019 16:50

Free delivery at The Works on a £5 spend with code FD5

woodwaj · 01/10/2019 16:55

@cupcupgoose I couldnt get that code to work can you link the offer by any chance?

Junobug · 01/10/2019 17:11

Thank you for the candle tip. I'm really fussy with candles, I like winter scents but not piney or berries and I hate spicey ones. I like a really clean smell. Saisburys do a really nice one that smells of the cold but it does have that fake smell so I'm always on the lookout if anyone spots any.

TalkingOrmer · 01/10/2019 17:16

I need 6 matching nightdresses for girls aged 8-10 years. I’d like them to look good (not that shiny polyester stuff) but cost less than £5 each

I’d be very grateful if anyone could post any links. Thanks.

Check us out, we made the daily round up email with our squeaky clean ethical love Grin

2.432kg of chocolate celebrations in one big box and a little bit of plastic packaging in terms of a bag. £11.89 if buy as subscribe and save and order 5 items in one delivery (more economical plus 15% off each item). Saves on big plastic tubs and I'm going to split them into little jute bags as stocking fillers and put them in our wooden advent calendar ... if they last that long 😂

Marks' Christmas food to order is live now (earlier than previous years!). You get a free bottle of wine / box of chocolates if you order before 10 Nov and spend more than £85.

AnnaMariaDreams · 01/10/2019 17:50

Thanks for the Exploding Kittens tip- just ordered it for DS7 stocking.

PinkDaydreams · 01/10/2019 17:58

@TellMeItsNotTrue thank you so much! I just couldn’t get the search feature to work, very annoying!

Whitecandle · 01/10/2019 18:04

@TalkingOrmer primark id day

noodledoodler · 01/10/2019 18:06

For any spode recipients, make sure you open the boxes and check everything, one of my mugs was broken on arrival 😩

lotusbell · 01/10/2019 18:12

Thank you for the TK Maxx reminder, going to check out those DW Home ones, plus my favourite C&E Noel is there for 19.99 so I'm going to buy another! Happy days!

TalkingOrmer · 01/10/2019 18:18

Thanks @Whitecandle I live in the Channel Islands so need somewhere that’ll post them to me. Sorry I should’ve said that in my post.

EternallyGrapefruit · 01/10/2019 18:21

The Loving Nature have 15% off with SAVE15.

Free 1st class delivery!

I use the eco-friendly deodorants and they are really lovely quality. They do beard oils and stuff too - maybe gifts for people who are nature/environment conscious?

JDSTER · 01/10/2019 18:33

Will Sainsbury’s deliver to you Tallkingomer? tuclothing.sainsburys.co.uk/c/promotions/kids-promotion-nightwear?INITD=GNav-CW-20%Nightwear

LikeSilver · 01/10/2019 18:35

Can I ask if anyone has any luck with going to m&s on Christmas Eve and getting whatever is yellow-ticketed for Christmas dinner? There’ll only be the four of us this year and nobody is bothered what we eat. Is it a hassle or worth the saving?

sideorderofchips · 01/10/2019 18:39

@TalkingOrmer I feel your pain. It’s hard to find people that deliver here!

Bluewavescrashing · 01/10/2019 18:48

@LikeSilver I tend to do a normal weekly shop around Christmas. To be fair, Christmas Dinner is just a roast. Co-op local and Tesco express have really good opening hours so we pop in to pick up anything we've forgotten.

As students 15 years ago, DH and I did a Christmas dinner for friends for £3 a person. Frozen turkey, smart price spuds and veg etc, lashings of cheap wine. Much fun was had!

NewYearsEveWedding · 01/10/2019 18:50

@TalkingOrmer @sideorderofchips Same problem here (Guernsey). I’m forever sending to my family in England and then they bring over for me.

Barbarara · 01/10/2019 18:54

Thank you for all the leopard print wrapping paper and notebook suggestions. No luck online yet but I’m hoping to get a chance to pop into Next and TK maxx later on this week so hopefully might find some.

NaraDeer · 01/10/2019 19:01

Any recommendations for a toy advent calendar for a 6 year old girl that isn’t too expensive? Not Lego or Playmobil.

WellTidy · 01/10/2019 19:03

Gutted not to have a white stuff £15 off email. I spent £300 online with them even after they took 20% off. I never seem to get discounts! I think it’s because I’m a sure thing of a customer. Same with Boden, never get a voucher because they know I will spend with them anyway.

Go Crackers has 20% off in October with code GC19XMAS.
