Thread 5 - The Mumsnet bargain thread - spreading the squeaky clean, ethical love!

So it’s not a thread all about ethical stuff (good grief there’s a lot of plastic tat that’s been purchased by me from these threads over the years) but with our current obsession with soap bars and shampoo bars and then I think it was fireflygirl who did the quote and it tickled me.

Just a reminder you can watch the thread by clicking on ‘watch this thread’ at the top of the first message. It’s much easier for everyone than so many place marking every time which can use up a fair chunk of each thread to scroll through Thanks

TESCO have some toy reductions - 1/3 of some Lego, 50% off other stuff inc petite Disney princess pack, playmobil police van, harry potter play set & roblox figures.

Serenity25 · 01/10/2019 13:40

Sainsbury’s have 20% off selected nightwear, online only.

SleeptightDaisy · 01/10/2019 13:46

My younger ds had asked for an electronic nail file like the ones some salons use. I've no idea has anyone got any suggestions of which one & where to get top price is £50.

SleeptightDaisy · 01/10/2019 13:46

balalalala · 01/10/2019 13:57

Bluewavescrashing · 01/10/2019 13:58

MY CHOOCHOO TRAIN HAS ARRIVED! 🚂😍
DH is working from home today and seriously thinks I'm having a midlife crisis now. 😂 Very excited. We don't usually put our tree up until mid December!

mrsdiddlydoo · 01/10/2019 14:10

Keyrings ordered for stockings thanks @PaddingtonBearHardStare

Whitecandle · 01/10/2019 14:15

More of a request than a bargain.

My DS (8 months) is OBSESSED with remotes. He will spot one from across a room. I'm fed up of him sucking mine and getting spit inside ruining the batteries does anyone know of any toy remotes that would be suitable? All the ones I've seen look huge and really clunky - he will definitely know the difference and won't like it as he is not interested in my Nans older large sky remote control lol.

I need a more realistic smaller one if possible.

Long shot but worth an ask

GreatBritishbakeofffan · 01/10/2019 14:17

Whitecandle last year m&s were selling remote controls in the toy section, they might sell again this year maybe?

Wiifitmama · 01/10/2019 14:19

@whitecandle does it have to be a toy? If you go to ebay and type "replacement tv remote" into the search, loads come up. Just don't put any batteries in so it doesn't actually work but he can suck and press buttons all he likes!

Elpheba · 01/10/2019 14:20

@Whitecandle my ds is the same so I’ve bought him some real ones off ebay- obvs take the batteries out first!

Bluewavescrashing · 01/10/2019 14:22

Toddlers always know when remotes are fakes! I'd get him a real one. No batteries makes it safe 🙂

Whitecandle · 01/10/2019 14:31

@Wiifitmama @Elpheba @Bluewavescrashing I was thinking this!! Good idea. He loves the small now tv one the best! I'll look on eBay!

Whitecandle · 01/10/2019 14:32

@GreatBritishbakeofffan that actually looks real.....

Whitecandle · 01/10/2019 14:37

(( https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B077D4SQYS/ref=cmswwrcppapiii_Ez1KDbM7E65A8 link )) incase anyone actually needs the remote for the real purpose at an amazing price. Reviews are fab too.

Whitecandle · 01/10/2019 14:40

Grr. Sorry tried that link thing but didn't work!!

PinkDaydreams · 01/10/2019 15:06

I’m trying to find what the key rings were but the search is being stupid and just takes me to the very last post on here. Am I missing a key ring bargain?!

SaveKevin · 01/10/2019 15:29

Just got back from Ikea, they have their christmas stuff out. I was there on saturday, not a hint! Today, theres a whole section.

Not a bargain but felt it was worth noting!

TellMeItsNotTrue · 01/10/2019 15:31

@PinkDaydreams the offer is 2 name keyrings for £3.99 including delivery - posted originally by @PaddingtonBearHardStare

John Lewis have a 20% home event at the moment, I just ordered 2 Stackers mini jewellery box lids for £16 each with free click and collect, I'm pretty chuffed as they were on my list anyway and not an impulse buy! So saved myself £8 plus the delivery cost 😊

LazyDaisey · 01/10/2019 16:04

Self confessed candle snob here Blush who usually splurges on Diptique, Neom, Miller Harris and Frederic Malle. Have tried cheaper stuff at tk Maxx and completely wasted my money each and every time.

Until now. I was looking for a Halloween candle at tk Maxx and took a risk on a DW brand scented like Candy Corn (American candy that looks like a triangle).

It smells - like childhood happiness - even my kids keep asking me to light it. Grin

Today, I spotted their Christmas scents at £4.99. Nabbed Candy cane and Pine scents. They also had gingerbread house scent.

Highly recommend- they don’t have that funny artificial smell that Yankee candles do, and like the more expensive ones, you only need to light them for 30 minutes for the whole house to smell rest of the day.

Some good build-a-bear deals at Costco if anyone has a big spend to do there
