Thread 5 - The Mumsnet bargain thread - spreading the squeaky clean, ethical love!

Reastie · 28/09/2019 08:29

So it’s not a thread all about ethical stuff (good grief there’s a lot of plastic tat that’s been purchased by me from these threads over the years) but with our current obsession with soap bars and shampoo bars and then I think it was fireflygirl who did the quote and it tickled me.

Just a reminder you can watch the thread by clicking on ‘watch this thread’ at the top of the first message. It’s much easier for everyone than so many place marking every time which can use up a fair chunk of each thread to scroll through Thanks

I think PP was saying the 10% Buckley code doesn't work with sale items.

It's just a really good sale...

Gustavo1 · 29/09/2019 08:36

I’ve been sent a code for a Yankee candle gift set from that another poster recommended on the last thread. Code WOW05 brings the set to £29.99. It looks good as a large gift or has a lot for splitting up. You may have to create an account to use it though. Haven’t tried it.

Barbarara · 29/09/2019 08:40

@Courtney555 thanks. The thread is moving so fast that I’m losing track Blush

Pushpull · 29/09/2019 08:47

@MissMarple0203 ive caved on the hooray heros book, using the 30 percent code that pops up on their site and honestly am so glad i did. The personalisation is amazing, even down to eye shape. When it came it made me cry (in a good way) and im viewing it as a keepsake. The gift box was rubbish though so dont add it on! I decided to go for the non christmas one, and the quality is great

PlaymobilPirate · 29/09/2019 08:54

I missed the soap / shampoo bars Blush is the offer still on please??

NoWordForFluffy · 29/09/2019 08:59

My Alexa plug has been claimed now!

Whoopstheregomyinsides · 29/09/2019 09:00

Showing my age there by talking about Wilkinson! I'll be talking about opal fruits next ...

daphine2004 · 29/09/2019 09:01

Anybody else slightly over invested in this thread? I have to check it a few times a day so I don’t miss anything as it moves so quickly!!

I looked at the Dr Botanicals site and everyone seems to have ordered from there, but I wondered if anyone had received theirs and what the quality was like before I jump on the bandwagon.

I nipped onto Aldi to get their version of the Haakaa breast pump. It’s £4.99 and could be a gift for a baby shower or for someone breastfeeding. Whilst in there I also picked up four of their Lacura hot cloth and cleanser for £3.99 as I had heard good things about it. I’ve bought to add to birthday presents in February (and one for me to test 😉). Apparently it’s similar or as good as Liz Earle, which I haven’t used, but had tried Eve Lom and have never been able to justify the cost of that though!

daphine2004 · 29/09/2019 09:02

@Whoopstheregomyinsides I bought a pack of four marathon bars in Morrisons this weekend, tastes just like a Snickers! 😂

NoWordForFluffy · 29/09/2019 09:03

We always called it Wilko even when it was Wilkinson. I imagine that's why they just rebranded; lazy types like us!

I'm sure I read that Snickers are going to be rebranded back to Marathon. Hopefully Opal Fruits can also come back!

Chocolatepumpkin · 29/09/2019 09:05

Managed to get both pink and orange bubbly suprise on Amazon plus some not so savvy but definitely will be loved Pokémon colouring books 😊

MissMarple0203 · 29/09/2019 09:08

Thank you for all the recommendations, I really appreciate it!! This is my first year on this thread and it's been so helpful!! Thanks everyone!!

DarkHumour · 29/09/2019 09:25

@daphine2004 I used Liz Earle cleanse and polish for years. Once I could no longer justify the cost, I really struggled to find a suitable alternative until Aldi’s offering. I’ve been using it since it first came out and find its great. It’s a slightly thicker consistency and the scent is different, but it’s amazing value for money.

TildaTurnip · 29/09/2019 09:25

Re M & S, how do I get emails with codes etc?

Thanks!

cccameron · 29/09/2019 09:29

hoopdeloop thanks so much for the lol amazon tip. I've been trying for days to get it on Argos.

Also a big thank you to whoever linked to the Buckley sale. Got some really lovely bits there

For anyone with a Friends fan we got this for dd for her 13th birthday and it went down really well. She took it to Guides and they all loved it, her leader even asked where it was from.

Sixp · 29/09/2019 09:36

Well I now have Spode and Dr Botanicals on the way 🙈😂
I am desperate to find a bargainous way of buying the ROLI beatmaker kit. Does anyone have any ideas? It’s all my DS wants. John Lewis currently have it at £199...

snowmanshoes · 29/09/2019 09:40

@MissMarple0203 probably too late now but itsyourstory do lovely books - I've bought aboutn10 over the years for my own dd and other children in the family and have never been disappointed!

UrbanMage · 29/09/2019 09:42

@daphne2004 I use the Aldi one (and their knock off pixi stuff as well) and it all takes my make up off a treat, even when I've had a tonne on. Smells good too.

Lc2006 · 29/09/2019 09:45

@Chocolatepumpkin can you post the link for the lol bubbly suprise on amazon I can only see them for £30 which isn't quite as bargainous as argos

LazyDaisey · 29/09/2019 09:45

“For the TopCashBack Lego Advent Calendar offer it’s the first 1000 customers that are eligible so just be careful as you might pay full price with no cash back.”

Just repeating what Paddington pointed out as I’m sure that cap has already been hit.

That said, Lego has free returns up to 90 days, so I ordered and was going to wait and see if I qualified. If not, I plan to just return the product back to Lego

recklessgran · 29/09/2019 09:49

Code LOVEBRANDALLEY gets £15 off a £60 shop at Brand Alley.

EternallyGrapefruit · 29/09/2019 09:52

Just caved and bought DrB stuff... how did people get the extra free soaps, etc? I spent nearly £30 on sale, after using the code...

PinkJam · 29/09/2019 09:55

@hoopdeloop Thank you so much for the Amazon tip! Just ordered a bubbly surprise. Has given up on Argos so happy this has come up.
