Kitty crack, Emrys!! Mine go mad for those 😂

FlowersMrsM. Please don't be offended, but from everything you've said over the last 6-12 months about your sister, she needs to grow up!!

That's awful HR, Fluffy. I was off for 6 weeks over the summer and despite my only starting last year they paid me in full for all of it! Have you tried the Lemsip tablets? I found them better than the drinks.

Hope you're all doing okay July. Tomorrow's a new month, and all that!

I have ordered a load of stuff from the bargain threads, I'm waiting on at least 6 parcels. Got one today, opened it and it's not even something I was expecting!

I entered a competition in a cardmaking competition about 3 months ago, and apparently I won so it's a pile of lovely papers and toppers. So, Christmas cards sorted for this year Grin

And as I was walking to the car park after work, an out of service bus went past but they must have pushed the wrong button because his sign said 'Happy Christmas 🌲'. Small things to cheer me up on a dismal Monday!

TheWoollybacksWife · 30/09/2019 20:30

Congratulations Firefly. I probably have enough time to make my cards this year but more than likely won't 😂 I haven't made any for about 5 years but have variously done a stamped and embossed design, decoupage pictures and stitched cards.

You're in the wars Fluffy 😪. I imagine the damp, miserable weather isn't helping you feel any better either. My mum's cold cure was a Beecham's powder made with hot lemonade and whiskey. Possibly not NHS approved but very soothing.

MrsMad Thanks - your sister does like her drama. I only have FB for karate news and the batshit neighbourhood watch stuff. I don't have any of my siblings as friends and intend to keep it that way.

I had a lovely wet weekend in Skipton. DS thought it was hilarious that I spent a weekend looking at yarn. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Maseandmum · 30/09/2019 20:52

Crikey, it’s October tomorrow? I can’t believe it.

@ChristmasInJuly I hope October’s kinder to you my lovely❤️

@EmrysAtticus mine would be all over them

@FireflyGirl congrats on the win..sounds like you’ve had a lovely day.

Horrible horrible rainy day here and looking that way for the week ahead..if it’s just rain and not wind and cold then I’m happy. We had a nice walk this evening..the Stream by us will be flooded soon if the rain carries on..we can hear it behind our house. DS is doing much better..thank you for the well wishes❤️.

Any idea when to start making a Christmas pudding..should I have already done it? I want to do my own this year and wondering when to start

TheWoollybacksWife · 30/09/2019 20:59

@Maseandmum the traditional day to make Christmas pudding is Stir-up Sunday which is the last Sunday before Advent starts. This year that's 24th November so I assume if you make it any time between now and then it will have time to mature.

It is apparently called Stir-up Sunday because there is a reading in the C of E service that week that begins "Stir up Oh Lord, we beseech you" - nothing to do with pudding making as such.

Maseandmum · 30/09/2019 21:10

@TheWoollybacksWife oh thank you..we don’t like Christmas pudding much but I’d like to make some for the church Christmas celebration.

Mrsmadevans · 30/09/2019 23:19

Happy October, everyone! Thank you for the nice messages.
Woke at 4am to take antibiotics and can’t go back to sleep! I just know I’ll drop off 5mins before the DC wake up..

NoWordForFluffy · 01/10/2019 06:15

Morning!

Sorry I didn't reply last night; I was asleep. I don't have a cold, I don't think; it's got all the symptoms of flu. And I shouldn't be dragging myself out, but I have to for the money (I'm very good at mind over matter, but it did mean I was comatose all night!).

Even the places I've worked at that do pay sick pay, there's a one year qualifying period. This place is discretionary, so if, for instance, you're run over, you'll get paid. For a cold, you don't. I'd rather they just said you can have x amount of days in a rolling year, but hey ho. They're looking at all the benefits and whether to change them though.

Anyway...October, woooooo! It's getting so close! 🎅🏻 🎄

Only 31 days, then we can say it's Christmas next month Grin

I hope for your sake it's just a really bad cold Fluffy FlowersGin

EmrysAtticus · 01/10/2019 07:02

Good luck Firefly!

Can't believe it's October now, not long until Halloween and then things properly get festive after that :)

NoWordForFluffy · 01/10/2019 07:08

I'm really poorly! The worst thing is the persistent headache though. And the aching feet / ankles / legs / hands. Oh, and the sore throat. The temp / coughing / sneezing can be coped with. Ah well, onwards and upwards.

Well done to your DH on choosing a house on higher ground, Firefly. 😁 I saw photos of Whitby harbour yesterday. Bonkers.

Despite being at sea level, we're protected due to the bay, which also means we're a seaside which is often without sea! 😂

I hope the water levels drop, or you may need a boat.

EmrysAtticus · 01/10/2019 07:18

I have a birthday too fluffy in November. Basically from now it's all a very exciting countdown :)

NoWordForFluffy · 01/10/2019 07:22

It is! My birthday is very conveniently 50 days until Christmas. So it's a double celebration! 🎄🎅🏻 🎂

Happy October!! One month until we go to DisneyLand🏰

I didn’t want to get up this morning..it was so cold and dark..warmed the clothes up on the radiator though which was nice.

Sorry you’re been poorly still @NoWordForFluffy..it doesn’t seem like it wants to shift does it?

EmrysAtticus · 01/10/2019 10:52

Mine is 6 weeks to the day before Christmas, my whole family start Christmas after my birthday. It is a very important marker Grin

NerosFiddle · 01/10/2019 11:13

October and December are the two busy months for birthdays here. It's mine in 2 weeks and DS on Halloween. Then dh is the start of Dec and dd the week before Christmas.

Does anyone have a party or gathering on Christmas Eve? My dsis is home for her first Christmas in 4 years and wants me to have a party. I don't want to as dc will already be overexcited. I think just having her round for a couple of drinks is enough. Or something a few days before.

Fluffy hopefully just a bad cold and not the flu. I was once told if you saw £1000 on the floor, with a cold you could lift it and with the flu you couldn't.

Maseandmum · 01/10/2019 11:16

@NerosFiddle we never have parties on Christmas Eve..just as you said..children get over excited.

NoWordForFluffy · 01/10/2019 13:40

Neros, that's not entirely true re the flu. There's degrees of flu like anything else.

I am really not well: aching, temperature, permanent headache, sore throat, nausea, dizziness, swollen glands, cough. It's flu!

If I could stay at home I would. I'm really more unwell than I've been in a long time! But, sole earner plus no pay = forcing myself in.

Maseandmum · 01/10/2019 13:55

@NoWordForFluffy is there any way you could get into the docs..maybe they could give you something stronger?

@Mrsmadevans I didn’t see your earlier post..you deserve a cuppa and to put your feet up after that dayBrew

DM said she’s doing us tea tonight..which is lovely as now I don’t have to worry about cooking tonight yippee!. I’m feeling rubbish..I’ve got a temp and my throats killing me..can’t stop my nose from running either. Just want to go home and collapse..but power through!

NoWordForFluffy · 01/10/2019 14:37

I think the GP would tell me to rest!

Look what I just got in my inbox!

4 more days until the weekend @NoWordForFluffy hopefully you can rest thenFlowersBrew will have a look at the food now!!

EmrysAtticus · 01/10/2019 14:50

Eek fluffy!!!

NerosFiddle · 01/10/2019 14:58

Fluffy I'm not saying that you don't have the flu just that I hoped that you didn't. And I know that an old wives tale is not medically fact. If you can face it, try drinking sugary drinks so that you can get some energy. Dehydration will make your headache worse.
