2019 Christmas bargains thread 1

Jingle those bells because it’s time for thread 1!

The aim of this thread is to share ideas for Christmas bargains and present ideas and a little bit of Christmas chat etc. I’ll try my best to do a post with the most popular links, if there’s anything specific you’d like me to add or if something I’ve put up doesn’t work please let me know in bold . Thank you

As usual no affiliate links (I’m still not exactly sure what they are but consensus was not to have them) and if we have any sites to post personal sign up links we’ll do this on a separate thread so all can post their links, I’ll do this when —I get around to it— soon.

MyFoofIsAloof · 26/08/2019 11:24

Oh me oh my. I got so engrossed in this thread last night that when I checked my emails this morning it seems I made a purchase at 4.10am! Worse still it was for me, not even a gift Blush

NoWordForFluffy · 26/08/2019 11:25

Spill, @MyFoofIsAloof, what did you buy?!

Coffeeonthesofa · 26/08/2019 11:48

Thanks for the finger puppet idea
@TellMeItsNotTrue got three different types of sets for my Granddaughter. Be useful in a small tub for a toy to amuse her when in a cafe etc.

MyFoofIsAloof · 26/08/2019 12:07

@NoWordForFluffy the Elemis balm. As it was only £5 I don't feel toooo bad but my plan was to get ideas and buy for others. Hi hun.

MyFoofIsAloof · 26/08/2019 12:08

woodwaj · 26/08/2019 12:45

Thank you for the ideas! I've mainly got ds who will be almost 5 but has asd and is maybe a year behind his age developmentally. He is bus mad if anyone sees anything usual! His cousin who is 6 and my parents then the usual work secret Santa etc

ImNotHappyaboutitPauline · 26/08/2019 12:59

@woodwaj Does he have any of the playmobil buses? BUS

Orchard toys have Boardgame plus a jigsaw puzzle though that might ba a bit young for him.

Mollyboboff · 26/08/2019 13:06

Maybe not so much a bargain but , for those of us out there that still send Christmas cards . In September, October ,November I write a few from my list and stamp them. Come December they are usually all done and ready to post off and you haven't had to get the stamps all in one go.

Mollyboboff · 26/08/2019 13:08

Whoops posted too soon.
I've also for the past two years done a spreadsheet on who I'm sending too and if they sent one back. That way you can cull back on how many to send.

SquintEastwood · 26/08/2019 13:15

@woodwaj - my ASD lad is bus mad too. At that age we got him the Naughty Bus book and a little red London bus to go with it, he loved the story and acted some of it out with his little bus :)

ImNotHappyaboutitPauline · 26/08/2019 13:29

Bus Bedding

For some reason @woodwaj I'm determined to find bus stuff now Grin

There's also The Magic School Bus series if you don't already have those?

Fubbs · 26/08/2019 13:44

@TellMeItsNotTrue thank you so much - just completed very tricky to buy for FIL's Christmas present on Dust & Things Grin!

SmallAndFarAway · 26/08/2019 13:45

Thanks @whatwillicallmyself, it's available in Dublin so I'm sorted! Never thought to look at the Irish site, too busy begrudging the rest of you Grin

@Barbarara, there's an English language option on Amazon.de - haven't checked the others. Lego seems much more expensive than the UK site though.

101Robin · 26/08/2019 14:44

I ordered from Amazon UK to Sweden once. It was fine but it took a bloody long time

ThreeTree · 26/08/2019 14:46

Not sure if it was an error with the till, the system or my specific item but I bought a charcoal grey Men’s fleece dressing gown in M&S today - tagged at £29.50 and when I got to the till it was £1.99! Wasn’t in the sale section at all, final sale and no returns but for £1.99 I’m not bothered!

PaddingtonBearHardStare · 26/08/2019 14:50

Hello all, new to this thread this year as on maternity leave so need to be organised and find some bargains!!

Thanks for the Lego Ninjago boat tip for Argos. I got it yesterday for DS8. I think I saw someone upthread suggesting getting someone to post it to them, just a warning it's bloody huge!! I've had to leave mine in the boot of DHs car and will take it to my Mum's for storage!

Luxplus · 26/08/2019 14:50

I often order from Amazon, both the UK and German one (speaks both) but given the low value on pound right now the items on amazon UK is just so much cheaper to buy.

Mynameisnotthis · 26/08/2019 14:52

@Youvegotafriendinme

Did you see this on Facebook?

FilthyforFirth · 26/08/2019 14:52

Thanks for the Spode link whoever shared it above, much appreciated! Not sure what to add this year, think I want placemats and possinly large dishes to put cookies etc on. It is a shame it isnt the absolute bargain of last year though, 16 piece set for £35!

Just back from my Range and they didnt have any Christmas bits out sadly! I'm 0/2 this weekend. Come on shops!

Also off to google bus toys!

MyIncapableOne · 26/08/2019 14:58

Thanks for this thread. I followed last year and bought far too much. This year I promised myself I wouldn’t start thinking about Christmas until at least November yet here I am Grin

BargainMax.co.uk have Hatchimal Advent Calendars for £9.99 plus an extra 5% off today. TopCashback also available.

@ImNotHappyaboutitPauline thanks we have the board game which he likes (weve got the puzzle and he just cant do it!) I've always avoided playmobil they just seen like a bit of a shell with not much to them if that makes sense?

@SquintEastwood weve got the naughty bus he does love it (and we have a million buses as we live very close to the bus museum! approx)

woodwaj · 26/08/2019 15:22

@ImNotHappyaboutitPauline I'm glad you are up for the challenge. It'll be a tricky one we've got the bus bedding Wink I've not heard of the magic bus series though

imsorryiasked · 26/08/2019 15:47
