2019 Christmas bargains thread 1

Reastie · 18/08/2019 07:26

Jingle those bells because it’s time for thread 1!

The aim of this thread is to share ideas for Christmas bargains and present ideas and a little bit of Christmas chat etc. I’ll try my best to do a post with the most popular links, if there’s anything specific you’d like me to add or if something I’ve put up doesn’t work please let me know in bold . Thank you

As usual no affiliate links (I’m still not exactly sure what they are but consensus was not to have them) and if we have any sites to post personal sign up links we’ll do this on a separate thread so all can post their links, I’ll do this when —I get around to it— soon.

Would definitely be interested in the spode Christmas tree collection, we have a few pieces of that and would always like to increase the collection

@Coffeeonthesofa my purse is shouting at you Xmas Grin but I am thanking you Xmas Grin I got TONS for my shoeboxes (again, NOT done via operation Christmas child, school do it through a local doctor who takes them back to his home country and there are no strings attached) and a few stocking fillers like minions/spiderman/detailed animals colouring books - 1 suitable for each DC so that's great!

Spent a fortune but got a lot for my money... Put it this way... I got £4.22 cashback through topcashback 🙈 and it's 5.05% cashback for poundtoys

In my defence, I do have 6 shoeboxes to fill and I like to make sure I fill all the space in them! Just need to add soap/toothpaste/sweets now I think, as I already had most of the stationery, flannels etc

moonbabyandthebeast · 25/08/2019 12:12

Poundtoy.com have a sale on plus further 50 % off when in basket. I've not ordered from them before but a little browse shows a variety of toys, party and craft bits.

TellMeItsNotTrue · 25/08/2019 12:15

@moonbabyandthebeast I used the code from topcashback for extra 50% off clearance and it accepted it but didn't change the price at all 🤔 I'm thinking maybe it's not working because of the special offers this weekend? If you get it to work let me know please and I'll message them about my order

LikeSilver · 25/08/2019 12:33

10% off Music Magpie for bank holiday weekend with ‘AUGUST10’. I find them good for DVDs and books if you don’t mind secondhand.

daphine2004 · 25/08/2019 15:10

I agree with silver. I’ve just bought a refurbished iPhone as my screen broke today. Prices are very good and money off too! Would be good for first phones for teenagers, maybe??

Wait4nothing · 25/08/2019 15:13

The stacking of eb discounts is showing when you add to bag but won’t go through on checkout. Was trying to get the chilly bottles.

lancslass17 · 25/08/2019 15:23

Im also on the look out for happy land toys but also owl babies book with puppets if anyone spots on their travels. Browsing round the shops is no longer possible have to do targeted trips so need to know where i am headed. Thanks for your help x

NoWordForFluffy
I was in TKM today no Christmas stock out lots of Halloween stuff though.

FilthyforFirth · 25/08/2019 15:53

Sad to say there was no Christmas stuff in the TK Maxx I went to. Lots of halloween though.

Did get my dino mad 2 year old some excellent books though, only £3 each!

imsorryiasked · 25/08/2019 16:53

@FilthyforFirth some reduced slide Xmas tree stuff - the mugs are half price, the rest not so much.
They also have Wrendale cards, crockery, mugs etc and (higher priced) baubles but might be nice to coordinate with the ecookshop ones.
Portmerion have some good reductions on their The Holly & Ivy range too.

imsorryiasked · 25/08/2019 16:54

Spode not slide Hmm

Luxplus · 25/08/2019 18:20

Do any of you know if I can order from Amazon after the 31st of October? Getting worried that most my shopping have to be done before BlushConfused

MooPointCowsOpinion · 25/08/2019 18:24

I saw the boxes of Xmas stuff ready to be unpacked onto some very bare shelves at the Range today! Exciting!
I’m after some outdoor decorations, I have a little roof over the bay window that’s crying out for some light up reindeers I think... any recommendations of stable, easy to secure and supply power to, reindeers and outdoor lights?

Sux2buthen · 25/08/2019 18:26

Not strictly Christmas but could be good for gifts for babies at Christmas. Popped to Asda and the baby summer stock was all 1-2 pounds. I paid 14 for what should have been 55.
I was more excited than I should probably have been Grin

sideorderofchips · 25/08/2019 18:30

@Luxplus

Any reason you are worried about that?

I haven’t heard otherwise

Luxplus · 25/08/2019 18:35

@sideorderofchips just wondering if they would be able to ship overseas...

Whitecandle · 25/08/2019 19:03

@MooPointCowsOpinion ooooooohhhhhh. Trip to the range soon for me and DS I think before my maternity leave ends 🤗

Love the range Christmas stuff. So affordable!

Someaddedsugar · 25/08/2019 19:21

Can anyone recommend a good wooden tool box set for a toddler? I've been looking at the Le Toy Van one and also the Melissa and Doug one but was hoping someone might have a recommendation!

Ratbagcatbag · 25/08/2019 20:16

Thank you so much for sass & belle info. I also signed up and got an extra 10% off. Plus there's an additional 20% off everything on the website.
Two children in the family done. Plus some lovely bits for my daughter.

Reastie · 25/08/2019 20:45

I’ve got a lot of Spode Christmas pattern China I bought last year from this thread and then was too poorly with hg to get them out and use them so really looking forward to this year :)

I’m in Ireland and def trying to get the amazon bit of my shopping done pre Oct 31st. I can see Irish shops having a bumper year if ppl run into online shopping difficulties due to ......

SmallAndFarAway · 25/08/2019 21:03

@Luxplus, I'm in Ireland and intend to have had everything delivered before the 31st of October for that reason - the rules for countries outside the EU will apply if there is no deal, so anything above EUR 22 will be subject to Irish VAT. I've got stung when getting things Korean beauty products over the limit before, and it's a faff as you have to pay before they will release the goods.

I don't know how Amazon would handle the UK VAT - I assume they have to add it as we're no longer in a customs union, so you may end up paying double.

Plus delays in deliveries... I'd better get a move on! Still gutted the Argos Ninjago ship wasn't possible to get over here.

bumblebe · 25/08/2019 21:04

Thanks @nowordforfluffy I've got what looks like a lovely pre lit outdoor reindeer on the way for £21.59! 😊

NoWordForFluffy · 25/08/2019 21:09

Glad to have helped, bumblebe!

I'll be done before Oct 31st, just in case (not for shipping purposes).

totallyLosingIt · 25/08/2019 21:11

@SmallAndFarAway If the Ninjago ship offer is still on at Argos then couldn't someone here get it for you and post it over?
