ninjas I hope today has been better than yesterday for you.

Fluffy that's an impressive list of stuff you grow.
Can I ask - are your blackberries under control? If yes, how? We have some at the back of our wild / recently hacked down garden. They get everywhere - I love them but we end up cutting them back to almost nothing just to stop them taking over.

Also - do you eat everything you grow or do you end up giving some away? (My friend gives away a fair bit but he lives alone and can't eat it all).

Congratulations to your DD Chips

Emrys it feels like a long time since we've seen rain doesn't it? It was so hot today. I was in Newport and went for a lunchtime walk - was sweating when I got back!

Welcome back Constantly and congratulations on your grandchild news!

I am so glad to see the end of this week, work has been nuts! I'm actually enjoying the weather as it's been warm but manageable for me (im very pale and hate the heat). Just want to get my house organised and spic & span this weekend, then I'll be able to really relax. Will hopefully get that done tomorrow 🤞🏼

Mrsmadevans · 12/07/2019 18:53

NoWordForFluffy · 12/07/2019 20:16

You do so much for your mum, Mrs. I hope she's a bit more appreciative these days.

We're sorting our house on Sunday. Can't wait!

Emrys, I hope you can crack on with your cross stitch over the weekend.

Crazy, I've tied the allotment blackberries to the bloody shed! The garden ones need training somewhere too. I'll figure it out tomorrow!

I make sure I prune as soon as the fruit is done to try to keep them in control.

We give some bits away, but the aim is to feed us, not others. We'll freeze as much as we can.

2ninjas sounds like you have had a tough couple of days. I hope tomorrow is kinder to you. fluffy the concert sounds wonderful and the allotment is looking great. chips big well done to your DD.

Atticus fingers crossed that it arrives tomorrow. I am also happy to send you some of this rain. Neros please let us know your verdict on the GR book. constantly congratulations Flowers.

Thank you mrsmad its been a mammoth task but i feel so much better now its finished. Im finding it frustrating a bit though because although everywhere now looks so light, fresh and lovely its just not quite complete yet. This is more due to me having zero patience though. I hope your having a nice relaxing evening now.

DS had his school report yesterday. After the usuall of spending almost as much time in the head teachers office as ds does I wasnt expecting it to be a good read. It was an excellent report though and I am so proud of him. He also one a certificate today for showing excellent christian values so I am extra proud tonight.

I have just noticed though he has used my instagram to message a you tuber to tell him how great he is and gow much he loves him. A quick google tells me this you tuber is 18 so I now look like aome weirdo mummy stalker...cheers dude.Blush

2littleninjas · 12/07/2019 21:32

Fluffy I hope that’s the case for us, it seems like they’ve had everything under the sun so hopefully they’ve built up a bit of a defence to it.

Crazy hopefully you get to wind down this weekend after a stressful week🤞🏻

Mrs what a busy day! I hope your MRI gives you some reliefFlowers

Cish Well done to your DS! And lol at him messaging that you tuber😂

We’ve had a better day than yesterday. Finn is doing a lot better and managed to play in the garden a bit, but Jude is still feeling worse for wear. He’ll stay in with us tonight so we can make sure Finn isn’t keeping him awake. We did have some plans to meet up with some mates this weekend and have a picnic with the kids but we’ll see how that goes.

Morning!

It's allotment and garden day today. Grin

Mrs, that's great news re the MRI. The wheels are turning! How long til you get the results?

Mrs, I don't watch C5 much (or ITV!), so don't notice what's on. It sounds good though.

Cish, good news re the report. Hilarious about the YTer though (because it's not me!).

I hope the boys are better today, ninjas. Hopefully a short-lived virus.

Ninja hope your DS are much better today Smile
Better shift. l am so tired tonight , Mum has been so upset today , it takes it out of me comforting her all the time , l am not complaining just saying how it is .
Have a good night everyone Smile

NoWordForFluffy · 13/07/2019 21:31

It's been gorgeous today (at least since the cloud burned off).

I had about 5.5 hours at the allotment, then spent another 2 hours in the garden sorting it out. I forgot to sweep though, so will have to do that tomorrow after I've mowed the lawn.

It's a year today that I chose the allotment plot...I've come a long way (especially with a torn shoulder tendon!).

We got a bucket of peas, plus a load of broad and green beans today. Plus 5 runner beans. And a lettuce! It's doing alright.

I have peppers and chillies coming at home too. Yay!

Today is sorting day. I've already made Yorkshire puddings and choc chip banana muffins (to use the hot oven!) and I've washed up the stuff which didn't fit in the dishwasher. I need to clean half of the kitchen (DH did half yesterday!) and he'll build a bookcase while I'm doing it.

Then the sort starts. 😁

The weather is warm but cloudy today.

Mrsmadevans · 14/07/2019 08:27

Morning everyone 😀
Looking good here ,sunny and warm 🤗
Watched Halep v Williams match again this morning, Simona played some of the best women's tennis l have ever seen and what a lovely young lady . A credit to the game. Anyway enough of that 😁
Fluffy what time did you get up this morning m'dear 😁
You work so hard you are like a human Dynamo🤗
Up to Mum's this morning , DH cooked her a lovely lamb Lunch, ready for her so she will really enjoy it l hope. She had a bad day yesterday, very upset. She's a real pita sometimes but it's horrible seeing her in pain missing Dad. It is what it is , when you are together for nearly 70 yrs this is what it is going to be like no matter how much your rowed and boy did they ! 😊
Men's final this after, another massive final, am looking forward to it 😁 Federer to win of course lol, that's the kiss of death for him then!! 😁😊🏆🎾🍓🍾
I must confess to my interest in Wimblers had jaded prior to it starting this year not surprising really what with Dad passing but l have enjoyed it .
So what is everyone doing today?
Whatever we are doing have a lovely day everyone 🤗

NoWordForFluffy · 14/07/2019 09:28

Ah, your poor mum, Mrs. It's a big shock to be alone after so long together, I'm sure.

I was up about 7, Mrs.

I've now:

  • stripped, washed and hung out our bedding;
  • made Yorkshires;
  • made muffins;
  • cleaned the whole kitchen / utility (DH isn't as thorough as me, so I did it all again!);
  • podded a pile of peas (we don't get many as the kids eat them all!) to freeze for our Christmas dinner; and
  • washed up twice to clear the sides before cleaning!

Now: to sort!

Fluffy congratulations on the allotment- I like the idea of growing more food but know I wouldn't have The willpower to put in the work on cold, damp days!
MrsMad- pleased to see you have been referred for an MRI.
My Christmas stockings are very simple- I buy nice fabric; cut out a boot shape; stitch and add a ribbon drawstring. I made the first one for DS for his first Christmas and then made the same for DD.
I will be haunting the bargain threads as well because last year I made an advent calendar for DD (she is a fellow Christmas enthusiast).

NerosFiddle · 14/07/2019 10:53

Morning all. I wrote out a whole post then it deleted itself.

Mrs Im a big tennis fan too and so excited for today's final. I'd love Roger to win but I just can't see past Djokovic.

Fluffy I'll post a picture of my "allotment" so you can be suitably jealous 😄

NoWordForFluffy · 14/07/2019 12:19

That's an amazing allotment, Neros! Grin

Constantly, there's not as much work in winter. It's just relentless in growing season! But it'll be easier next year as I won't have my arm in a sling for 6 weeks at the start of it. Or be banned from digging for 13 weeks after that!

TheWoollybacksWife · 14/07/2019 13:10

I'm away on holiday this week. This is the earliest we've been away since we had DC and I'm interested to see what happens when I get home - for the past three or four years I have thought that the evening light feels like late summer as soon as I'm back from holiday. It's most likely due to the sun not being as strong compared to our holiday destination. Hopefully won't happen this year - earlier holiday plus the summer hasn't even started properly yet.

NoWordForFluffy · 14/07/2019 15:11

I bet that's liberating, Woolly. Not being tied to school holiday prices must be lovely too. Where are you?

I've just sat down after finishing tidying. The dining room was done before lunch. We bagged up a load of hard plastic stuff to take to the tip as they've a dedicated recycling area for it. The art stuff is all sorted out and loads of paper put in the recycling. The games are all on the new bookcase with large jigsaws etc that didn't have a proper home before.

I listed and sold the toy kitchen on Facebook this morning and it's been collected already, so that's cleared space and given us £20 towards holiday treats.

I've sorted the front room and tidied the Lego away and all the books on the bookcase.

I also swept the garden in between the two other jobs!

I'm now drinking tea watching the F1 before finally having a shower!

My people! Hello! May I join?
Lovely sunny day here in Yorkshire today but I’m suddenly in a festive mood and have settled down with a cup of tea & Pintrest to do an hour of Christmas planning while DH is on the rowing machine (and therefore cannot roll his eyes at me and moan “Can we just enjoy the summer first please?” Grinch).

Hopefully both DC will understand what’s happening this year and I’m excited!

Morning!

It's looking to be another lovely day here. I'm sitting in the newly-decluttered dining room and it makes me happy!

We managed to move some Really Useful drawers from the lounge into here too, so there's a lovely gap in the lounge which is revolutionary! 😂

Welcome, July. You'll fit right in here! Xmas Smile

NerosFiddle · 15/07/2019 09:07

Morning all.

It took a few hours yesterday for my nerves to calm down after the tennis. I was absolutely gutted for Federer.

Today is going to be the best day weather wise so going to make the most of it by moving everything into the back garden.

TheWoollybacksWife · 15/07/2019 10:23

We were watching the cricket Neros. DH has never been a fan of tennis - I'll watch it if I'm on my own but there is only one tv and we both like cricket so the World Cup won.

We are in Spain in a beautiful villa. Self catering but we are either eating out or having simple dinner at home so it's very restful. Even the schlep to ALDI is beautiful but best done in the cool of the morning.

McShakey · 15/07/2019 12:03

Hi can I join? I love Christmas and I normally do Christmas crafts in the countdown to Christmas. This year I’m planning on making a stocking and a teddy for my little girl. It’ll be nice if I can share it all with people who care unlike my family who think I’m crazy

NoWordForFluffy · 15/07/2019 18:05

I watched the F1 and no other sport. Too busy to sit down!

Woolly, that sounds blissful. I'm envious!

Welcome, McShakey. Nobody will think you're crazy here. Xmas Grin
