Afternoon!

In the absence of @SideOrderofChips (I hope you don't mind me jumping in, Chips Flowers ), here's the first bargain prequel thread of this year.

Use this thread to post any bargains you may have until @Reastie comes back in a few months' time! Xmas Grin

Just an update, my joules outlet order from eBay has just arrived. It’s arrived in a nice box with a brightly coloured lining, I’m actually going to give the presents in the box as it looks nice Grin I will definitely order again from them!

My pine tea has arrived. I got a free gift of lapsang tea. The packet the pine tea came in looks nice and more tea than I was expecting, but the free 'gift' says sample on it so maybe not present worthy

Am another who went in for the Oliver Bonas sale so thank you to the original op - got the wine scarf which someone said makes a good throw it's that big, plus the Christmas bath oil and trinket dishes as gifts.
I'm also trying to buy stuff that will last this year and reduce the amount of small plastic knick knacks, plus the amount of plastic packaging. Not in a holier-than-thou way but I'll admit I'm feeling the pressure to buy more carefully. Anyone else got any ideas plans to do similar?

NaturalBlondeYeahRight · 10/08/2019 14:46

Just joined back in. Think I’ve missed a few bargains already. Feels very autumnal today so a good time to have a browse. Really want to find a bargain for you all.

gotmychocolateimgood · 10/08/2019 15:18

@BestofLuck I'm trying to reduce wasteful plastic too so no small toys etc.

My rucksack was knackered so I bought one in the Ollie & Nic sale. Thanks for the tip, I love it! Also bought a washbag and 2 handbags so that's 3 gifts done.

Men are hard to buy for. In general!

NoWordForFluffy · 10/08/2019 15:35

I'm trying to reduce unnecessary plastic too, @BestofLuck. So no little plastic stocking fillers etc.

We've also banned kids' magazines with plastic toys. It's hard when kids are young and so much is plastic.

Checkout your local Asda guys, lots of random reductions that seem to vary from store to store. There was a Lego Friends set (a cupcake cafe I think) which was £6.50 and by the looks of amazon, it sells for £17-£25

BestofLuck · 10/08/2019 16:15

I agree Fluffy - the magazines can be a right bugger! Yes it's definitely the stockings that can get by with less in the way of small plastic things.

StudentHelp · 10/08/2019 16:40

Just got some bits in the Oliver B sale

NoWordForFluffy · 10/08/2019 19:00

We did the same for the kids' party bags this year and gave books, in paper bags. Plus a bamboo straw / sweets / cake.

We try, but it is hard.

I was in Disney store yesterday and picked up labyrinth frozen version for dd for £7.50 and picked up hungry hippos for ds for about £8, this was reduced again from last week, in sainsburys.

livinginhope87 · 10/08/2019 20:32

You can get 50 free prints at boots with 50FREEPC19

SquintEastwood · 11/08/2019 09:37

Thanks for the photo tip @livinginhope87 - I'm terrible for forgetting to print photos!

DS and I took a special trip this year so I've printed some of our photos out for family album but debating a photo book for him :)

SquintEastwood · 11/08/2019 09:40

I'm another trying to reduce waste this year, not banning it as such but just being more concious of what I'm buying and not getting just for the sake of it.

I generally ask what people would like and try to stick with that rather than surprises to avoid giving unwanted/unnecessary stuff with the exception of a few wee surprises for the kids based on their interests.

Someaddedsugar · 11/08/2019 09:44

We've cut down on gift buying in general in our families to try and reduce unwanted gift purchases, so now we do secret santa instead with a budget of £10, one for my side of the family and another for DP's side of the family, and despite the small budget for the past three years everyone has received really thoughtful and nice gifts. It also massively takes the financial pressure of Christmas away which has been so helpful for all of us!

PinkDaydreams · 11/08/2019 10:10

@livinginhope87 is it just postage you have to pay for for the prints do you know?

SquintEastwood · 11/08/2019 10:42

@PinkDaydreams I paid 99p delivery for 50 prints this morning :)

livinginhope87 · 11/08/2019 11:33

Yes, sorry it is 99p delivery. Should have added that into the post.

PinkDaydreams · 11/08/2019 11:44

@SquintEastwood and @livinginhope87 thank you! Flowers I’ve been meaning to change the pictures in my frames round the house so just ordered! Also ordered some to frame for family as a random gift for no occasion other than to just to be nice Smile

sideorderofchips · 11/08/2019 12:56

If anyone sees any seriously good deals on playmobil can you tag me please? Babychips has decided he loves it and middlechips trashed all hers so it got binned 🙄

Tiredsahm84 · 11/08/2019 13:07

Worth asking at the counter if your in

imsorryiasked · 11/08/2019 13:16

@Sideorderofchips ocado still have some good deals

sideorderofchips · 11/08/2019 13:18

Problem is they don’t deliver to Jersey 😭

recklessgran · 11/08/2019 13:30

Side order I would be happy to order for you from Ocado and post if that would help?

Someaddedsugar · 11/08/2019 13:32

@sideorderofchips Smyths have a discount on most Playmobil sets at the moment - I'm not sure whether they're the cheapest though.
