Thought I’d do a ‘how to’ for a couple of things people often post about not being sure of

To do click links you do this put link in here then a space then the name or phrase you want to go with the link . Don’t put a space between the start of the link and the and then last word and the like I have or it won’t work but I had to to demonstrate.

To follow the thread without using up a post to mark place you can click on ‘watch this thread’ at the top of the first post.

No affiliate links please.

Referral thread here

Second message has a few links and info which I’ll slowly build up, let me k ow if there’s anything you’d like me to add to it Thanks

Remote control Thomas down to £16.70 which isn't the lowest price but not far off...

How Winston Delivered Christmas book is www.hive.co.uk/Product/Alex-T-Smith/How-Winston-Delivered-Christmas--An-Advent-story-in-twent/20520560 and I liked that Hive donates to a local bookshop you choose - reduces some of my guilt in how much I use Amazon.

BrightonBB · 18/11/2018 19:01

£9.69 on Hive against £10.13 on Amazon so not much but feel it supports local sellers and I still get it delivered.

SweetPeaPods · 18/11/2018 19:02

Does anyone else remember when Molton brown did the massive pre Christmas saving code. Was it £10 off every purchase? I bought loads that year!

Gettingthereslowly1 · 18/11/2018 19:06

Chocolatepudand chocolate - yes I’ve checked spam - I’m wondering whether my paypal had an old email address on it

Someaddedsugar · 18/11/2018 19:06

@Iggi999 look at Polar Post for letters from Santa - they really are stunning!

MouseTheDog · 18/11/2018 19:10

Delurking to say they have lots of nice pyjamas at Tu/Sainsbury’s including HP and some lovely Julia Donaldson ones. Always lovely quality and allegedly the 25% off starts Tuesday. Click and collect free over £15 I think.

Elphaba17 · 18/11/2018 19:14

sweatpeapod I loved that glitch. Everyone seemed to get a beautifully giftboxed MB hand cream from me that year lol it was £10 off and then wasn't there some other code for a free shower gel or something too?

ILovePandas · 18/11/2018 19:16

NewDay depending on your budget how about English heritage membership, I just got a senior pass for my parents with PART17 got 20% off

SweetPeaPods · 18/11/2018 19:17

Elphaba17 Yes that sounds about right. It was brilliant!

IHopeYouStepOnALegoPiece · 18/11/2018 19:18

NoWordForFluffy thanks so much! That’s the cheapest I’ve found the candle I needed as a gift, much appreciated

Spam88 · 18/11/2018 19:26

Can't decide whether to get Duplo or sticklebricks for my 18mo. Any thoughts?

starryeyedsnowgirl · 18/11/2018 19:28

@whoknows1230 if DH really likes coffee I'd recommend an aeropress. Cheaper than a machine, take up less room and no non recycleable cartridges. I was recommended it on here one year- they have s huge following of real coffee lovers. Since trying DH's one two other people we know have bought one.

starryeyedsnowgirl · 18/11/2018 19:29

@Spam88 - we have both and the duplo is definitely more popular. You can build more with it and it is sturdier when built.

akmum18 · 18/11/2018 19:29

Any recommendations for books for a 7 year old? Already have all the Roald Dahl, David walliams and classics from older child

IHopeYouStepOnALegoPiece · 18/11/2018 19:35

akmum the worst witch series?

WaitWhatOh · 18/11/2018 19:43

My teens are obsessed with American candy. Hmm they link me to all kinds of subscriptions for American sweets at ridiculous prices - anyone know the best/cheapest place to buy a bunch of it?
Maybe I should just fly over and buy loads?? Grin prices they charge over here for it! I could make a killing!!

WhoGivesADamnForAFlakeyBandit · 18/11/2018 19:44

akmum18 choose your own adventure books, David Baddiel, How to train your dragon, Mr Gum

Spam88 Duplo, definitely.

LittleRedYoshi · 18/11/2018 19:46

Highly rated gin and tonic recipe book on Amazon is £3 at the moment (RRP £7.99)

www.amazon.co.uk/Gin-Tonica-recipes-Spanish-style-cocktails/dp/1849758530/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=gin+tonica+book&tag=mumsnetforum-21&ie=UTF8&qid=1542570136&sr=8-1

imsorryiasked · 18/11/2018 19:46

@WaitWhatOh my local garden centre come place of all things you never knew you needed- has a whole section of American stuff. PM me if you're in the south east.

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 18/11/2018 19:46

akmum - my DS (7) loves Famous five

SweetPeaPods · 18/11/2018 19:47

Spam88 Duplo or mega blocks imo

IHopeYouStepOnALegoPiece · 18/11/2018 19:48

waitwhatoh last year American fizz had a great Black Friday sale. And “a taste of the states” also
