Getting a First Love doll and Huggy Bear for Christmas when I was 7
My Sindy house which went up in the attic on Boxing Day because I was naughty
I got Speak & Spell one year too. I wanted that for ages - it seemed so high tech at the time!

DoveSecret · 15/11/2018 21:18

Mum bought me a Dairy Diary every year. I loved it.

Was thinking about this the other day. This gift was my absolute favourite, spent hours playing with it.

My Little Pony Dream Castle
A lovely red bag with a gold clip
Book with the piano music for the Snowman

We had a bay window and one Christmas my grandad built me a shop, that fitted in it. It was fab I had a till fruit and veg and real sweets.
I also remember getting a video recorder, that was because I didn’t get it and mentioned I hadn’t got the one thing I really wanted. My poor parents were horrified to realise they had forgotten they had hidden it in the loft.

A tomogotchi literally the best thing ever..:

Wasn't impressed the year I didn't get a furby 🙄

RedPandaFluff · 15/11/2018 21:26

A Benetton watch with a white leather strap and a lovely rose gold face. I felt like THE BUSINESS wearing it.

I think the best part was, I hadn't asked for it, and didn't particularly want a watch, my parents just bought it for me for Christmas and I fell in love as soon as I unwrapped it!

FireflyGirl · 15/11/2018 21:26

An a la cart kitchen (shows my age Grin)
A bike (I mostly remember DDad taking us out on them)
A humongous Barbie house (to share between me and my sister)

Probably the gift I remember most was a Boxing Day gift. I was 16 when mobile phones first came out and they weren't even on my radar, but my best friend's parents bought her one for Christmas and she called me to tell me about it.

DDad, who bought our Christmas Eve pyjamas before it was trendy and left the rest of the present buying to my mum, went out on Boxing Day and bought me a phone. It was a really thoughtful gift, especially as we weren't well off and I would have already had my Christmas presents!

Looking back, I wonder now if it was so he could call me if I wasn't home on time Grin

Cluedo, connect four and a Walkman.

I can remember loads of stuff my sister got that I loved too,
A la cart kitchen
Big yellow teapot
Ride on Thomas the Tank
Bike with a doll seat
Tiny tears
McLaren pram
Sylvanian family windmill
Scalextrix
Nintendo console

Struggle to remember what I got though. I suspect having a birthday close to Christmas had something to do with it.

I got a ghetto blaster. DF (who is a dinosaur) still uses it to listen to CDs. I got a freaky doll which grew teeth and hair when you wound a handle. And one year I got an anatomically correct baby boy doll. My aunt picked a name for him and persisted in calling him that for over half a decade. He was NEVER called that Hmm

Teatimeted · 15/11/2018 21:45

A La Carte kitchen here too!

Huge Barbie caravan

Sindy doll house

Madonna's 'Immaculate Collection' on vinyl to go with my hifi system

Harrykanesrightsock · 15/11/2018 21:50

A play mobile tree house. And kerplunk

Bumbumtaloo · 15/11/2018 21:50

40yearsyoung I got one of those too! Mine was purple. I got Kylie, Mel and Kim and Bros tapes to play on it Grin

• A bike
• A blue pushchair
• A red stereo system - when I outgrew the tape player, I thought I was the bees knees because it had a record player.
• A black and white portable TV

I always wanted a Fashion Wheel and Mr Frosty but never got them Sad

DreamsofJacaranda · 15/11/2018 21:55

The present I have the best memories of was a Sindy doll with a wardrobe containing three outfits, it must have been Christmas 1968 or 1969 - when I think of it I can still smell the shiny black boots and the black plastic trim on her outfit, and feel the perfect softness of her red skater skirt, and the wonder of her ice skates.

MrsJonesAndMe · 15/11/2018 22:06

Love these, thank you for sharing.

An enormous purple Barbie car. I dread to think how much my parents spent on it looking back

willdoitinaminute · 15/11/2018 22:12

I remember the presents my mum had spent weeks making (she was a talented soft toy maker, well everything maker). I could never work out how she managed to make everything without us knowing. She would knit scarves and hats, make teddies, dolls clothes and made all the sweets for Christmas.
I miss her!

Iputthescrewinthetuna · 15/11/2018 22:14

My first mountain bike for xmas...I fainted!
A little make up box for my 13th birthday.
A silver bookmark with my name engraved on it. My name is unusual so that was rather exciting.
My first needle art set, I loved sitting with mum as she taught me to cross stitch and long stitch.

llangennith · 15/11/2018 22:15

A doll's high chair. This was in 1955 so it was a big deal.

itsthemenopausenotme · 15/11/2018 22:16

Thanks for this, I’m getting such a warm rush of nostalgia! Tonka cupcakes - remember the smell?

twosoups1972 · 15/11/2018 22:18

Big Sindy house which took my mum and sister hours to put together.

Active (ballerina) Sindy, she was arranged in the splits in the box.
