akmum18 · 16/11/2018 23:05

Also cupcake dolls and viewmaster
Today’s toys are crap compared to what they used to be!

buzzkill · 16/11/2018 23:16

dumbledora I had a Petite typewriter too! I just remembered, I wrote pages and pages of 'magazines', just stories and stream of consciousness stuff... wonder if it's still floating around at my parents' somewhere?!

keyboardjellyfish · 16/11/2018 23:17

I remember my first violin. I also remember the year my gran sent me and my sister a LOT of books. Two best Christmasses of my childhood.

ijustwantasofa · 16/11/2018 23:24

this was my sindy fridge. Just the picture is so nostalgic, I can almost feel those little food items in my fingers!

First guinea-pig when I was 9yo.
Several guinea-pigs followed till I was in my twenties.

Then my DDs guinea-pigs - there have been 8 of them over the years (though none of them were Christmas presents) , we have her two middle-aged hogs snoozing away in the small bedroom

Sindy doll house with lift and working lights. I loved it. My dad then made me a wooden doll house with an attic where the roof lifted up, and let me choose all the wallpaper and furnishings. It was never fully finished though because there was always more he wanted to add to it, then I outgrew it Sad My sister never really played with dolls, and I didn't have a daughter, so it was never used to it's full potential

My two favourite things were my PlayStation 2 and my trampoline. Couldn't top them.

FixItUpChappie · 17/11/2018 01:41

Some of the gifts I remember particularly lovingly.....

I still remember bringing that magic show to school and dazzling everyone with my magic skills Grin

HelenaDove · 17/11/2018 02:23

My dad also built me a dolls house. Started when i was a toddler and still wasnt finished when i was a teen Grin

My Sindy horse and cart which i got one Christmas in the early 80s. Its actually still in its original box and packaging as it never got taken out and played with. As i was just beginning to get too old.

Not childhood but when i was 17 (this was posted on the Classic Corrie threads as the ITV3 episodes have just hit Christmas 1990. )

I remember my main Christmas present from 1990. No 7 Christmas Treasures. It was No 7 make up in a box shaped like a treasure chest. A Christmas present from DM.

I remember the lipsticks had little pictures or drawings of Christmas candles on them. I cant remember what little pictures were on the other items as it was so long ago. Obviously the items are long gone but i still have the treasure chest shaped box. DH uses it to keep bits + bobs in.

The following year they did the main No 7 set in a tall red hexogon shaped box and DM got me that too.

Shes bought me a beauty gift nearly every year since apart from two years ago.

1986 was a Sanyo Personal Stereo

i remember listening to Madonnas True Blue album and Pet Shop Boys Disco album on it over Christmas (tapes id bought earlier that year)

HelenaDove · 17/11/2018 19:32

And DB and i used to find a Mars Christmas stocking hung on our round bedroom door handles every Christmas morning as younger children. (the ones with the red netting) and a chocolate orange and fruit and nuts in one of my dads (clean ) socks.

chickenfeathers · 17/11/2018 19:49

My favourite pressies were:

Crossfire
Mastermind
A real trumpet
An electronic keyboard
A stereo
A massive pack of felt tip pens
Selection boxes galore

My nan gave me a battery operated candle on an old fashioned holder. I can still remember walking round the house in my dressing gown in the dark on Christmas morning with it switched on. Those were the days..... 😁

Singing Ariel doll (1992)
Belle and Beast Dolls (1992)
Sega Megadrive with Sonic ( beat my brothers at it)
Big Yellow Teapot dolls house
A La Carte kitchen
Get Along Gang
Care Bears
My Little Pony Applejack Stable

Bike when I was about ten

Kissing and river running plush dolls (from boots). They were little native american dolls, a mum and her baby with magnets sewn inside so she 'kissed' her baby. She had a little sling for him, wool hair you could put in plaits with two little red ribbons and a little native american headband. She had little moccasins and and a dress and a set of pyjamas to change into.

I thought she was the most wonderful doll I'd ever seen and I still have her and her little baby now.

Telescope and star map when I was 6 or 7

Proper grown up make-up and a little book explaining how to apply it all when I was 12 or 13 (mascara, eyeliner, blush, eyeshadow and lip gloss, and glitter). Felt very sophisticated with my make up on that Christmas

BillywigSting · 17/11/2018 20:12

This is kissing moon (not my one)
The baby is river running

A hamster, age 9. I desperately wanted one but didn't expect to get it. His name was Hamish Grin

Worriedworry · 17/11/2018 20:28

This Barbie doll. I cut her hair off on Christmas Day and thought it would grow back but it didn't.

ijustwantasofa · 18/11/2018 20:13

The two I remember most were a Zapf Creations head (like the Girls World one) with VERY dodgy 80s makeup, and a Guard Dog - a soft toy dog with a secret compartment in the bottom that you could put Very Precious Secret Things into and then if someone picked it up to steal from you it would bark. Mum unboxed it on Christmas Eve and put the batteries into it so it would work when I unwrapped it and her and Dad, rather tipsy, then had to try to get it wrapped without setting it off Grin
