A 'pretty cut and grow' doll and a taking Basil brush are the stand outs. I also remember our relatives in USA sending Hershey's kisses

WhirlyGigWhirlyGig · 16/11/2018 16:32

A mini kids Hoover (as in the brand) probably age 4.
A xylophone.
A little label maker, drove my parents bonkers.
A Sindy house.

Stompythedinosaur · 16/11/2018 16:33

I remember getting a small toy moans ask with animal figures in when I was 4 or 5. I loved it and played with it for years.

Stompythedinosaur · 16/11/2018 16:33

*noahs ark

NerrSnerr · 16/11/2018 18:13

Another A la carte kitchen here! I also loved the My little pony ballet studio, my first ever CD player when I was about 13 and a giant silent night hippo got played with a lot through my childhood. My mum still has him.

ElleMcFearsome · 16/11/2018 18:21

A Levi denim jacket that I wanted more than anything in the world, but didn't even ask for as I knew there was no hope of getting it. We were not well off and it was the Xmas I was 12. I honestly couldn't believe it was mine and I slept in it until I was convinced it wasn't on loan. No other present has, or ever could, come close.

I'm now 41 and it's still doing sterling duty being shared between my two DDs Grin

mamaduckbone · 16/11/2018 18:39

A stocking full of stationery from my big sister when I was about 9, and a ‘Loving you Barbie’ with a big heart covered dress and a pink stamper. I was so thrilled

Enidblyton1 · 16/11/2018 18:45

A green cuddly glow worm which lit up when you squeezed it (1988?)
The purple snail finders/keepers
A huge radio cassette player - which still works 25 years later.
A glockenspiel
A red leather handbag (made me feel v grown up when I was about 9)

Enidblyton1 · 16/11/2018 18:45

Oh and a Game Boy in 1992, which still works today Smile

BubblegumFactory · 16/11/2018 18:54

When I was about 7 or 8 ( I think) I got a tape recorder fir Christmas, a big brick-like thing but it was in a case with a strap so you could walk round with it on your shoulder. It had a taped copy of the Grease album in it (which my dad had probably taped from someone at work) and I was thrilled.
As a teenager, my mum bought me a little gold watch, in the style of a bracelet. Pretty and dainty. Hadn’t asked for a watch. But loved it instantly. Wore it constantly. No idea what happened to it. My mum was a real bargain hunter so she had undoubtedly got it very cheap!
Again as a child, someone gave me a small red velvety box in the shape of a chest of drawers. Think it once had chocolates in it. They were long gone but I loved that thing.

BubblegumFactory · 16/11/2018 18:57

elle I still have my Wrangler denim jacket from over 30 years ago. DD now taken over ownership, along with the ‘no cruise’ and ‘amnesty International’ badges which adorned it in the 80’s!

MegBusset · 16/11/2018 19:01

As a young kid:

A toy Funshine Bear
A Pobble
A 7 inch of Rupert And The Frog Chorus
A cheap Walkman knock-off that fell apart after a week and was subsequently held together with an elastic band

When older, I used to make a list of CDs for Christmas; as I got older these became more obscure and difficult to find. My parents used to insist on me putting one on the CD player for all to hear, but stopped after the year I got Sonic Youth's Daydream Nation and Tago Mago by Can Grin

ElleMcFearsome · 16/11/2018 19:24

Bubblegum, that's fantastic Grin Mine is somewhat faded but still fought over!

wanderings · 16/11/2018 19:25

@WhirlyGigWhirlyGig Was your label maker the style where you turned a dial to get each letter? My brother had one which he loved. He also had a date stamp, but that drove my parents mad because he put the date inside the cover of lots of books, he must have been playing libraries.

sunshineandshowers21 · 16/11/2018 19:27

a navy blue silver cross pram with a doll that my granny had knitted clothes for. me and my sister both had one and we thought we were the bee’s knees pushing them round the streets on christmas day!

Whiskeyjar · 16/11/2018 19:28

'The Big Red Fun Bus' - probably about 8 yrs old at the time

WhirlyGigWhirlyGig · 16/11/2018 19:54

wanderings yes. It was a dirty green/mustard colour and had to turn the dial and press hard to get good lettering quality. The tape was as stiff as a board though. And yes I'll admit to a date stamp too but I got that years before, it was a proper library type stamp with an ink pad too. I'm in my 50's though.

Redken24 · 16/11/2018 19:55

A mulan dress up set and a green tape stereo (that never went in my room I think)

Tigger001 · 16/11/2018 20:04

A rubber dub doggy (I was only 3 so don't remember as such but know from films how happy I was but mum kept him all these years and made a new sponge shaped like a bone ) and I have now given it to my son lol
Teddy Ruxpin
MASK men

Tigger001 · 16/11/2018 20:06

PatchworkElmer · 16/11/2018 20:12

Beamur · 16/11/2018 20:20

Baby beans. A baby doll with a plastic head and a soft body filled with beans. I fell in love. I declined to open any other presents.

trixymalixy · 16/11/2018 21:54

My most favourite present ever was the ice skates my aunt bought me and my sister. Have never been so excited by a present.

Other highlights are the Sindy horse and carts and the he-man light up swords.

JaggyJumper · 16/11/2018 22:27

@akmum18 you have the same list as I do. And also a silver cross dolls pram which was my best surprise
