Thought I’d do a ‘how to’ for a couple of things people often post about not being sure of

To do click links you do this put link in here then a space then the name or phrase you want to go with the link . Don’t put a space between the start of the link and the and then last word and the like I have or it won’t work but I had to to demonstrate.

To follow the thread without using up a post to mark place you can click on ‘watch this thread’ at the top of the first post.

No affiliate links please.

Referral thread here

Second message has a few links and info which I’ll slowly build up, let me k ow if there’s anything you’d like me to add to it Thanks

Did anyone watch the documentary on bbc the other evening about throw away fashion polluting the planet? That and the plastic documentary the other week is making me question the whole throw away culture and presents I give people Confused

Reastie, I’ve always followed these threads but have also got huge concerns about consumerism and it’s environmental impact. I just buy less. For friend etc, what about a plant? Food presents with less packaging? And I really try to limit dc clothes and make them better quality. I guess I ask myself do I really need something before I buy it...

yumyumpoppycat · 11/10/2018 17:03

I am the same re plastic toys, but feel it's too late to suddenly cut back on presents.

CoffeeMad18 · 11/10/2018 17:21

Thank you ChoccyJules just ordered from Emma Bridgewater Thanks

Strawberryfield12 · 11/10/2018 17:34

I have started to be more careful about what and where I buy clothes and footwear wise. I think it has been a mixture of hitting 40ties and wanting more timeless and elegant wardrobe and environmental and ethical issues. I have realised that when I buy something more expensive I treat those clothes with more care and they last so much longer not only because they are better quality, but also because me washing things in delicate cycle and not tumble-drying.

Now, I try to avoid plastic where possible, but have come across of businesses hiding behind the green slogan to charge premium prices to people who care for the same product. For example, if you search on internet for toilet paper which is not packaged in plastic, it is SOOO expensive. Surely, to put bog rolls in carton box instead of plastic bag doesn't increase the cost of said toilet paper 3 times?

Squ1ggle · 11/10/2018 17:38

@Stripy29 I have 2 m&s codes, you take the first one, the second is up for grabs to anyone else

Apologies for the duplicate post but the offer of 6 issues of Country Living mag for £10 plus a free Sophie Allport bag is even better if you use the Topcashback website like me, as it has an offer of £4.20 cashback for any Hearst Magazine subscriptions.

SimplyPut · 11/10/2018 18:09

I missed the documentary but will try to find it. Have genuinely cut back over the last few years, we are aiming for quality not quantity in our house. It's hard though!
