Thought I’d do a ‘how to’ for a couple of things people often post about not being sure of

To do click links you do this put link in here then a space then the name or phrase you want to go with the link . Don’t put a space between the start of the link and the and then last word and the like I have or it won’t work but I had to to demonstrate.

To follow the thread without using up a post to mark place you can click on ‘watch this thread’ at the top of the first post.

Referral thread here

Second message has a few links and info which I’ll slowly build up, let me k ow if there’s anything you’d like me to add to it Thanks

Marking my spot, thanks for the new thread!

yumyumpoppycat · 30/09/2018 22:47

Smartiecakes I would hold out for Black Friday for Disney store.

Iwannasnack · 30/09/2018 22:58

lokibear most of the Amazon own electronics like fire tablets, echo etc were reduced for around a week I think. They didn’t fluctuate between Black Friday and cyber Monday

EyUpOurKid · 30/09/2018 23:34

Planning on waiting for black Friday too for a kids kindle and dots/echos, I'm not fussed if they're an older model and DH thinks they're basically witchcraft so isn't keen and I'm not buying a jazzy one if he's going to start hissing and crossing himself every time he comes into the kitchen or wherever it will be housed.

Still have a 10% off babipur website if anyone would like it?

Coldilox · 30/09/2018 23:45

I've been away from the thread for a few days, so much to catch up on!

Not done much bargain-wise, but I did manage to get my DS a second hand frog bike in excellent condition, £100 cheaper than buying new and he won't care or even know it's second hand.

After visiting a friend today he's now also decided he wasn't a drum kit Gin Gin Gin

It's DW's birthday in a November, how selfish to have a birthday so close to Christmas! Only got her a Sugarhill Boutiqur jumper so far (bought in the sale of course), and very few other ideas. Eek!

1stTimeMama · 30/09/2018 23:59

@EyUpOurKid, I'd like the Babipur voucher please?

Can anyone shed any light on Magformers/Magnatiles/Playmags etc.?
I wanted to get a large set as a joint present for my 4 children, eldest is 8, youngest is 2. There's so many to choose from, I don't know which is best!

torthecatlady · 01/10/2018 00:18

I'm looking for a good deal on Lego storage boxes (either the ones that look like really big bricks or the head) if anyone spots a bargain?

I think the head comes in two different sizes, not sure which would be best...

Ds loves building things and Lego is his new favourite thing.

The full set of harry porter stamps presentation set is £10.50 on the Royal Mail site. They also have th Star Wars one’s for £6.50.

Not especially bargainous I know but I’m thinking that framed they’ll look like a decent present for ds who is turning 12 and so everything costs £££££ but looks tiny!

Loads in tk max/home sense
brand alley keep having them but none at the moment
amazon have some

torthecatlady · 01/10/2018 00:46

@TruelyTruelyScrumptious thanks I'll keep a look out!

Stripy29 · 01/10/2018 00:48

Home bargains also have the lego storage in at the minute.

rosablue · 01/10/2018 00:53

Somebody on the previous thread was looking for ideas for a 3 year old.

My ds loved the Galt Octons at that age and still loved them years later.

They're basically flat plastic octagon shapes with a slit on each side which you can use to interlock them to create models. If you're interested, keep a watch on the price as they do fluctuate - although it's not showing on camelcamelcamel as having done so. DS's were opaque, current ones are translucent so wonder if the code number has changed... I know I managed to get a box for less than half price (have given them as presents to lots of 3 year olds - most of them have played with them a lot I've subsequently discovered). Currently £9.

Curious2468 · 01/10/2018 01:28

Anyone know of any smyths discount codes?

flooredbored · 01/10/2018 06:27

T k maxx have some lego storage boxes on their website at the moment.

SockEatingMonster · 01/10/2018 07:05

@Lokibear and those looking for Kindle Paperwhites and other Amazon electronics (Dot, Echo, etc) - Amazon sometimes have a ‘Prime only’ discount on these items which does not show up on camelcamelcamel

I bought the Paperwhite back in July for £74.99 on one of these offers, so worth checking the price daily if you have Prime.

Thanks @MrsLem that's very helpful. He has 4 sets of grandparents so have worried about being overwhelmed

EyUpOurKid · 01/10/2018 07:27

1stTimeMama Will DM it to you shortly, my toddler is sat in my chest watching Postman Pat at the minute Grin

WhirlwindHugs · 01/10/2018 07:32

Fell off the thread!

Spent the weekend clearing the kids rooms out and getting rid of unolayed with toys and having a slight crisis of confidence about my sons list.

What do other 7yo boy enjoy? He doesn't like action figures or meccano.

Lego and some playmobil still popular.

MerryTwinkletoes · 01/10/2018 07:38

I'm struggling with 7yo boys ideas this year too, mine just doesn't play with anything 😕so far I have a falconry experience off Groupon and the jaques chess set from up thread.

Will also get him some books and Lego but other than that I'm stumped. And he has a December birthday too 😫

fraggle84 · 01/10/2018 07:54

Ds is 6.5 here's what we've got him

  • new bike
  • Lego set
  • revell junior fire engine
  • Playmobil ambulance & police car
  • gift bag with art bits in
  • pirate & Knight fancy dress
  • football boots
  • Harry Potter book set
  • nerf electronic target & new gun
  • Mario kart pjs

I'm going to grab some meccano

WhirlwindHugs · 01/10/2018 07:56

Oh no! Mine has a December birthday too!

He asked for new dressing up to replace outgrown but I think I will suggest that to ILs.

MsMiaWallace · 01/10/2018 07:58

Mines 7 this year with a November birthday!
He's asked for a Nintendo 2ds for his birthday.

For Xmas so far I've bought:
A Dino fingerling
Nerf gun
Lego
Playmobil hospital (thanks ASDA!)
Toilet trouble game.
Books
New trainers
& other bits & bobs.

TalkingOrmer · 01/10/2018 08:12

I’ve bought Exploding Kittens game for 7yr old.

MerryTwinkletoes · 01/10/2018 08:38

Ooh I wondered about exploding kittens is it good? And can anyone recommend any other good board/card games for a 7yo pls? Preferably quick ones, I don't have the patience for monopoly etc!

Mammatron · 01/10/2018 08:39

@LutherRalph1 my DS was 8 months at his first Christmas, 2 years later he's still playing with the bubble machine he got, a 3 in 1 mini micro scooter, a bat mobile ride on and a ball run (in fact that's the first thing he chose to play with this morning!)
