Thought I’d do a ‘how to’ for a couple of things people often post about not being sure of

To do click links you do this put link in here then a space then the name or phrase you want to go with the link . Don’t put a space between the start of the link and the and then last word and the like I have or it won’t work but I had to to demonstrate.

To follow the thread without using up a post to mark place you can click on ‘watch this thread’ at the top of the first post.

Referral thread here

Second message has a few links and info which I’ll slowly build up, let me k ow if there’s anything you’d like me to add to it Thanks

Has anyone seen any Doctor Who toys for an 8 year old? My DD has enjoyed watching all the series from when Christopher Eccleston joined so looking for something funky/ different for Christmas for her. Thanks!

woodwaj · 07/10/2018 20:58

Bagginses try forbidden planet. Not the cheapest though but likely to have something!

BestofLuck · 07/10/2018 21:00

I can vouch for the Quidco offer @SockEatingMonster. I signed up, followed the relevant links and paid £23 for the calendar via IWOOT. Got £15 cashback from Quidco which I took in the form of a voucher, so paid £8 for the Lego calendar all in. Think it’s for new customers only though...

Whyisitsodifficult · 07/10/2018 21:02

@Isadora2007 that’s a great price! I will have to be alert! Thanks

Whyisitsodifficult

I was buying an xbox one s a couple of weeks ago and got one from amazon warehouse deals. I wasn't bothered if the box had been opened. I wouldn't buy an actual "used" console from anywhere.

I paid about £200 for a 1TB console with a game and £40 for a second controller (also from amazon warehouse deals).

winewolfhowls · 07/10/2018 21:40

For doctor who books try the works. Seen various Dr who books there before.

SockEatingMonster · 07/10/2018 21:41

That is a good deal @BestofLuck

I don’t need a Lego advent calendar, but I’ve seen them mentioned here a few times, so hopefully useful for someone.

Whyisitsodifficult · 07/10/2018 21:59

@Intherosegarden do you get the same guarantee if you buy it that way?

InTheRoseGarden · 07/10/2018 22:10

That's an interesting question. I hadn't really thought about that before. This is what they say on the website:
"Please note that used products are not covered by the original manufacturer's warranty.
If a product becomes defective after 30 days you won't be able to return it using our online return centre. You may wish to visit the manufacturer's website or contact them directly as they may be able to offer troubleshooting and support with the issue you have with the product. Alternatively, please contact us."

I always rely on the Sale of Goods Act (or whatever it is now) but I don't know if that applies to goods sold as "used".

Personwithnoname · 07/10/2018 22:12

I think the Quidco Lego deal has ended. Signed up as new customer (not the £5 a month one) but only says 1% cashback. I'm clearly too slow....

nocutsnobuttsnococonuts · 07/10/2018 22:35

bagginess how about pop vinyl figures? My 9 yr old dd has asked for a few of these (teen titans and sonic the hedgehog though!)

CheekyFucker · 07/10/2018 22:44

@imsorryiasked thank you, I did not know that. I doubt they would ship it up especially though.

WhirlwindHugs · 07/10/2018 23:35

Doctor who - does your DD have a sonic screwdriver? We have 11s and it's actually really well built good quality toy. Otherwise their are loads of cool fan art posters/badges etc on etsy if she's at the stage where she'd like that.

I'm hoping there'll be 13 toys out by Christmas!

rosablue · 07/10/2018 23:58

Inspired by @gaggiagirl 's teaspoons, I've just had a look and there are loads of different designs on ebay - from mermaids, unicorns and flowers to guitars, more guitars (and other instruments) and christmas ones, plus more I'm sure if I found the right keywords!

All in a variety of colours, ditto lots of plain spoons in a variety of different colours too and all working out about a pound or less per spoon...

fire8 Amazon has the Fire 8 HD 32GB with Alexa tablet on half price for next 24hours £49.99 instead of £99.99

fraggle84 · 08/10/2018 06:12

That's a great price for the kindle fire

distantstars · 08/10/2018 06:42

Thanks to whoever posted about Disney dolls being £10 from today at the disneystore! Ordered first thing this morning x

Woffulu · 08/10/2018 07:19

16 years ago I bought the elc marble run for ds1. It lasted 3 children and has only recently been retired to the attic (ready for any grand kids).*

We bought our ELC marble run around 13 years ago and it was well used by 3 children until retiring recently!

Elpheba · 08/10/2018 07:27

I’m tempted by a fire tablet for dd but noticed that the one above is only so cheap because it has permanent targeted advertising on the home screen when it is not in use. Given its for dd I’m not so keen under those conditions, but does anyone know what is a good price for it without adverts? I was hoping to get it on BF but would be good to have a price in mind!

fraggle84 · 08/10/2018 07:30

You can ring amazon and pay £10 and they remove all the adverts

imsorryiasked · 08/10/2018 07:41

Who was after shark items? Matalan have pjs and blanket

rubyred38 · 08/10/2018 08:00

Hi I bought this marble run yesterday from amazon after recommended by my friend
https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0099PKZS4/ref=asliiqfasinnil_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=gnjlynch-21&creative=6738&linkCode=as2&creativeASIN=B0099PKZS4&linkId=c8c7e56f387e5e719431df6ff08115af
Looks great and wasn't overly expensive you can buy direct from galt but got cheaper from amazon through promotion

Elpheba · 08/10/2018 08:27

Thanks @fraggle84 £10 isn’t bad- the page I was reading this morning didn’t have a price- it just said you have to pay the difference between the advert version and the usual one which is a bit “how long is a piece of string!”

Changingagain · 08/10/2018 09:11

Does anyone know if there's a cheaper alternative for imaginext figures? I got a pirate ship, Castle and shuttle second hand off fb but she didn't have any figures. I naively thought I'd be able to get them cheap on eBay Hmm
