LOL doll house

My dd5 is obsessed with LOL dolls. I can't stand them, but he has played with them daily for nearly 2 years. We've recently banned YouTube because I don't want her being advertised to any more particularly in the run up to Christmas with the ridiculous LOL releases.

However last night however I was looking at the LOL house on Smyths and placed a pre-order on a whim. I figure I can cancel it if I change my mind, but when they sell out I can't. It would actually be a practical present, given she spreads her LOL dolls all over the house, it would give them a place in her room and keep them away from her toddler sister. She's never had a main Christmas present before just lots of stuff. If I got this it would take up all the room on Santa's sleigh so not really anything else.

If I didn't get this she'd be getting more Playmobil to break up and lose bits to and smaller LOL sets anyway.

I'm basically just posting this to try and justify this ridiculous expense to myself, has anyone else ordered it?

I saw a picture of the contents of the new Bigger LoL surprise and it looks crap so that swayed me. At least this is made out of wood and not wrapped in 50m of plastic wrap?

Have also seen it’s part of Asda’s Black Friday deals - green is the new black. Lots of people have been phoning Asda and been getting different responses, would seem not even the staff know what is happening. Good luck if you can get it for £45!!

I saw a review- the part with the swimming pool on it is cardboard, not wood and gets soggy therefore and useless quite quick? Can anyone confirm or deny this please?

SD1978 I’ve seen online that people have been putting clear varnish around the swimming pool part to seal it.

Argos has it back in stock for collection in some stores - I just managed to get it from fleet for Sunday pick up!

It’s up for pre order at Smythes again, my advice pick click and collect, seems to arrive faster than delivery option. I chose the charlton store, got it quite quickly.

I only pre ordered it last week (for home delivery) and not holding much hope.
My SIL has since told me that she once got an email to say that her preordered item wouldn't be in stock after all.

Finding this stressful now, would prefer to know one way or the other.

My Dollhouse from the US arrived on the 16th November. No extra taxes or delivery. Hope everyone else still waiting gets theirs soon.🏰

My Smyths pre-order from September came in on Thursday. The man in the shop said all pre-orders were delivered at the same time, 68 in total for their store alone.
The box is huge and so heavy. My plan was to hide it in a spare bedroom but I could hardly get it out of the car, let alone up a flight of stairs! So, shoved it in the under stairs cupboard and haven’t opened the outer plain cardboard yet. I’m now wondering whether to try to pre-build? If so, how will I keep it hidden from her?! What are other people going to do?

We always put things together at night, over December.
I'd always be worried that there might be a part missing or broken, and I wouldn't like to discover that on Christmas Eve!

to anyone who has made them, how long do they take to put together?

There seem to be loads back in stock now - I get alerts from stock informer all the time (and got one easily from Argos weeks ago!)

I’d like to echo Closed question on how long they take to put together and how tricky it is. I think my dd who has ASC might actually like to help construct it if it isn’t too hard. (She’s five but has assembled simple items before without too much difficulty.

I'm wondering how long it takes to assemble too. I'd rather leave it for Dd to open on Christmas morning but it will be frustrating if it takes ages to build.
Also, I know someone mentioned that the water from the pool can damage the wood. I wonder if there is a better way to seal it from damage than the nail varnish I've seen suggested.

I got an answer of about 1.5 hours on another thread, from a poster whose DD had discovered a bit of paper from it after they built it

No. I thought about it and decided to let Dd build it with DH tomorrow.

Well I built it last night....started at 10pm finished at 1am I found it a nightmare! Instructions ain't great and they are in the delivery van that comes with it. There is other stuff that you need to take out one of the boxes in the removal truck too to build the house. This annoyed me as I wanted my daughter to open up the removal truck and open all the stuff herself

What were your children’s reactions to the dolls house? We’ve had a family emergency so have put our present opening on hold. I want to live vicariously through you all until we manage to give ours to our DD.
