LOL doll house

My dd5 is obsessed with LOL dolls. I can't stand them, but he has played with them daily for nearly 2 years. We've recently banned YouTube because I don't want her being advertised to any more particularly in the run up to Christmas with the ridiculous LOL releases.

However last night however I was looking at the LOL house on Smyths and placed a pre-order on a whim. I figure I can cancel it if I change my mind, but when they sell out I can't. It would actually be a practical present, given she spreads her LOL dolls all over the house, it would give them a place in her room and keep them away from her toddler sister. She's never had a main Christmas present before just lots of stuff. If I got this it would take up all the room on Santa's sleigh so not really anything else.

If I didn't get this she'd be getting more Playmobil to break up and lose bits to and smaller LOL sets anyway.

I'm basically just posting this to try and justify this ridiculous expense to myself, has anyone else ordered it? Blush

I saw a picture of the contents of the new Bigger LoL surprise and it looks crap so that swayed me. At least this is made out of wood and not wrapped in 50m of plastic wrap?

Anyone?

I have 4 dds, 3 in the age range and 2 with ASD who are particularly obsessed. I’m not getting the house! It’s a ridiculous price and somehow dds have made their own houses either with boxes or in the wooden doll’s house!

imip · 19/09/2018 15:03

Storage box, you say....

zeeboo · 19/09/2018 15:07

Personally I think it's a ridiculous waste of money. My daughter and I have made a cardboard 'mansion' for hers and when the lady in Entertainer told us that the house was coming out this autumn and what the RRP was, even my dd at age 8 said "that's far too much money! You could get loads of LOLs for that!"
We've since built a swanky LOL cardboard hotel too.
I am getting her the shopping mall thing that converts into a display stand as it will be a good way to keep the ones she isn't playing with at any given time, a place to stand neatly.

Jammiebammie · 19/09/2018 15:24

Aw it is so expensive isn’t it, I’m considering how much I’ve spent on other dc in the past though between Playmobil mansion and sylvanian hotel etc and it’s comparable - I personally don’t like the design of it but I know dd will absolutely adore it and play with it loads. Dd takes the dolls to her hospital play sessions and her nurses have actually made adorable tiny little tubes and pumps and wee hospital beds for them (I’ll need to try and get a pic to show you all!) so I’m presuming dd will be doing that in the Lol house. I’ve bought the pop up store already as it’ll be nice for her to take to hospital in that.

Thanks for advise about the confetti pop - I’ll try and stock up on them then, dd is obsessed with trying to find the elusive unicorn (Poor kid is going to be so disappointed there 😂)

TheGirlWhoLived · 20/09/2018 20:22

Aww jammie that sounds so adorable, really glad your dd has some lovely nurses looking after her xx

Meeshu · 20/09/2018 22:34

Hi i have not ordered the house but have got the pop up stand thing, have pre-ordered the advent calendar and the new bigger surprise which everyone is saying is rubbish. Hope she still liked LOLs by Christmas x

imip · 20/09/2018 22:45

Thanks, blooper

WoahBodyforrrrm · 21/09/2018 18:56

I saw on a fb bargain page the other day, that some people are ‘pimping’ their existing dolls houses and making them into LoL mansions. My twins have a lovely Le Toy Van house, so I’m going to LoL it up, but the house is beautiful as it is so won’t be doing anything permanent to it.

makingmiracles · 21/09/2018 20:27

WELL our pre order from amazon arrived today.....the box is massssive!! And pretty heavy, was going to bung in attic but it won’t fit through the hatch!! Should of seen us, was like the chuckle brothers! GrinSo have had to put it in the back of her older brothers wardrobe, which there’s no way she’ll go in.
Can imagine parents up and down the country in the same predicament in the coming weeks/months!

PiggyPoos · 22/09/2018 16:07

It's already saying out of stock for pre order at Smyths, blimey.

Ixnayonthehombre · 22/09/2018 16:59

Yeah it's been out of stock for preorder for a week now, so I'm feeling smug.

makingmiracles · 22/09/2018 17:25

I THink they may be open again to preorder at some point, it’s worth just checking every day as I preordered from amazon and symths and once the house came yesterday I went on symths account and cancelled my two I’d preordered on there and I imagine there will be others who’ve preordered from more than one place so there may be more to offer at some point.

TimeForMy10thCuppa · 22/09/2018 20:01

Mil has pre-ordered the house. We have an arrangement. If she asks santa for it we will it buy off mil. If she has it on her list it will be her only gift from mil ( yeah right) if DD goes off LOLs before Christmas we will either return if we can or sell for RRP ( not for a profit). The last thing I need is a repeat of the year of Peppa pig. DD loves LOLs any chance they get to buy a toy she gets one. Only really plays with them, isn't interested in any other toys really. DS will even play and they will play power rangers Vs LOLs. I'm sure she would love the house. We already have 2 dolls houses which occasionally become an LOL house but the furniture is tiny.
It's a ridiculous price, but we still buy them.
I even pre-ordered the overpriced advent calendar.

sophisticatedsarcasm · 22/09/2018 22:00

My DD6 is obesessed with L.o.ls, has been for 2 years, we counted them the other day and she has over 40, I really wanted to get her the house but the price put me right off. We usually only spend £200 on them at Xmas which includes stocking. As she gets older and requires more tech stuff it will go up like we have done for her brother. When he was her age we only spent £200 so we do exactly for her what we did for him. She hasn’t even said anything about it, she really wants a bigger bike so we are gonna her her one of them. I think the price on that house is far to expensive.

Buddyelf · 26/09/2018 13:30

I have drawn the line on the house I'm afraid. We already have a 4ft tall Barbie house and the shopkins mall so we just don't have the room and I don't have £180 to spend on it. I've already got the Bigger surprise and I'll be getting some more dolls and accessories, fleecy blankets etc.

Abouttime1978 · 26/09/2018 13:45

My six year old already has a huge dollshouse so she won't be getting it as there is nowhere or it to go.

LOL dolls are on 3 for 2 at Argos today - I've just ordered a few for Christmas and birthdays.

Turnbacktime101 · 06/10/2018 11:29

The LOL House is already out of stock and it’s onky the thing DD (5) says she wants. If anyone sees them available please let me know!!

TellerTuesday4EVA · 06/10/2018 11:43

Can you preorder through Smyths still @Turnbacktime101?

I preordered months ago & mine hasn't come yet....

Has anyone on here preordered & received there's yet?

Jammiebammie · 06/10/2018 11:47

I pre ordered mine in August and it still isn’t here, the advent calendar I pre ordered came the other day, but no news about the house yet tellertuesday

llangennith · 06/10/2018 12:00

No small girls in our family so had to Google what this was. Yes it's ridiculously expensive but I'm sure any little girl who loves her LOL dolls will love it almost as much as the mummy buying it😄

Kracken · 06/10/2018 22:00

Hi, I pre-ordered from Very in August and got it last week.

It's for my daughter's birthday next week (joint present from her grandma and I, to justify cost!). I am secretly assembling it so she can just open the furniture etc on her birthday. Am nearly done with assembly and whilst I agree it is overpriced like all the LOL stuff it is much sturdier than the Barbie house she has which I think cost about the same. It is wood and all screwed together so very solid. Can't comment on the furniture until after her birthday!

Ixnayonthehombre · 07/10/2018 23:33

Kracken, don't forget to waterproof the base!

Kracken · 08/10/2018 18:06

Thanks so much, I read that tip on here and varnished the bottom part around the pools over the weekend. Stealth vanishing was quite hard!

The grand unboxing was today and it is a hit with my daughter. Furniture is pretty nice but there isn't much of it so expect we will end up getting extra furniture packs.

makingmiracles · 09/10/2018 14:46

Did the varnishing go ok? Dp scared me a bit saying the varnish would prob disintegrate the sticker but glad to hear it went ok hopefully?
