LOL doll house

My dd5 is obsessed with LOL dolls. I can't stand them, but he has played with them daily for nearly 2 years. We've recently banned YouTube because I don't want her being advertised to any more particularly in the run up to Christmas with the ridiculous LOL releases.

However last night however I was looking at the LOL house on Smyths and placed a pre-order on a whim. I figure I can cancel it if I change my mind, but when they sell out I can't. It would actually be a practical present, given she spreads her LOL dolls all over the house, it would give them a place in her room and keep them away from her toddler sister. She's never had a main Christmas present before just lots of stuff. If I got this it would take up all the room on Santa's sleigh so not really anything else.

If I didn't get this she'd be getting more Playmobil to break up and lose bits to and smaller LOL sets anyway.

I'm basically just posting this to try and justify this ridiculous expense to myself, has anyone else ordered it? Blush

I saw a picture of the contents of the new Bigger LoL surprise and it looks crap so that swayed me. At least this is made out of wood and not wrapped in 50m of plastic wrap?

Anyone?

They have them in stock in marisota.co.uk.

slappinthebass · 02/11/2018 09:59

Oh man, just missed it! It said in stock but when I clicked add to basket it said not available 😭

Jessiejess16 · 03/11/2018 23:17

I pre ordered from Smyths on 16th Sep and collected it today. Lady in smiths said some are already on eBay expected to go for £800!!

Kimbocheese300 · 04/11/2018 06:23

That’s strange.I wonder if it depends on which store you have ordered from.I think I asked for delivery so could be waiting a while!

Jessiejess16 · 04/11/2018 08:51

Yep I think it does depend on the store, the lady said the store had pre ordered 75 and 19 of them arrived yesterday. So even the ones that are pre ordered don’t all arrive at once in store

IceRebel · 04/11/2018 09:01

I cannot believe people are paying nearly £300 for this Shock

I hope you all manage to get your pre-orders, but there are so many nicer dolls houses out there for much much less.

Mumof3needswine · 04/11/2018 22:59

Still no sign of mine and a few people I know who pre ordered later than me have got there's. I'm not sure weather to hold out hope or just go with something else instead x Confused

CircleofWillis · 05/11/2018 18:55

Has anyone ordered from abroad? I'm considering buying from an Ebay seller in the US.

IceRebel · 05/11/2018 19:23

@CircleofWillis be careful ordering from the US, you may have to pay customs duty and VAT.

slappinthebass · 05/11/2018 19:35

I chose home delivery too because it was free. I've definitely noticed those that chose store collection get theirs sooner 😭

Bumbumtaloo · 05/11/2018 20:30

With Smyths do you have to pay when you pre-order or do you pay on collection/delivery? Just wondering if you could pre-order somewhere else, if anywhere is taking pre-orders.

I just looked on Amazon, absolutely shocking prices! I also had a look at Argos (was on the site anyway) and they say they have limited stock of them, you may get lucky with them. Obviously if you’ve already paid it seems to be a waiting game.

LOL doll house
CircleofWillis · 06/11/2018 06:45

Icerebel, I’ve bought it now from a very highly rated seller from the US who included customs and export fees in the delivery charge. The dolls house cost was the same as in Argos but I decided in our situation (finding out about the dolls house too late to pre-order from anywhere) it was worth paying the extra. My DD has ASD and it will probably be her only present from us. The knowledge that she will have something she is incredibly excited about and will play with rather than several things that do not even get opened for months makes it a no brainier. Plus it is good to have an item that her peers will want to come and see for play dates. Social skills amongst peers are her main difficulties at the moment.

CircleofWillis · 06/11/2018 06:46

no brainer Grin

IceRebel · 06/11/2018 07:05

I'm glad you managed to find someone who incorporated customs fees in the price, as these things can get expensive. I'm sure your daughter will enjoy the house, and hopefully she and her friends will have lots of fun with it, but I still think it's overpriced for what it is.

CircleofWillis · 06/11/2018 08:56

It is overpriced. I have a weird feeling of being almost 'groomed' into accepting more and more expensive options. This time last year I would have laughed incredulously at even spending £2.50 on a shopkins collectible. Now I've bought at least 5 LOLs for my DD a a few for her friends' birthdays.

slappinthebass · 06/11/2018 09:10

I think it's far better value than the big surprise and bigger surprise things. Hardly any plastic too which is a huge bonus.

Jojojo3 · 09/11/2018 13:59

I pre ordered from smythes end of October and got email last night to say it’s arrived. Hubby just picked it up, so not too long to wait. Smythes charlton branch.

slappinthebass · 09/11/2018 14:12

I ordered in September though, for home delivery and still not arrived. This doesn't seem fair. It definitely seems to be the case that orders to store arrive much more quickly. I wish I realised this when the last lot of pre-orders was open.

Bumbumtaloo · 13/11/2018 11:57

The LOL house is available again for pre-order at Smyths. Has everyone that’s pre-ordered now received theirs?

slappinthebass · 13/11/2018 12:14

Thanks @Bumbumtaloo! I've done another preorder but this time for store collection. Hopefully they won't both turn up at once 😂

Bumbumtaloo · 13/11/2018 12:19

Lol @slappinthebass they probably will! At least you should get one now.

Kimbocheese300 · 13/11/2018 13:43

Slapinthebass. I ordered on 13th Sep for home delivery and haven’t received anything so also just pre ordered again for collection. Will hopefully get one or the other before xmas and send the other one back!

Haaaarrrryyyy · 13/11/2018 14:16

I’m jumping on to let you know about Asda, they have the bigger surprise in store for £45 instead of £85 as of today, just thought I’d add in case it helps any of you out!

MrsCar · 13/11/2018 14:33

I just preordered it for home delivery, dd will be thrilled. I know she'll love it.

She didn't want anything in particular last year, so I got her loads of our generation things; bed, dolls, van etc... I'd say they were played with for a day and have been in the same spot in her room since.
My point is, I'd prefer to spend money on what I know she'll love.

Bumbumtaloo · 13/11/2018 15:15

Apparently the £45 for the Bigger Surprise is a pricing error, not sure if they have honoured any.
