I'm just wondering when everyone puts up their trees.

My DP likes to put ours up on his birthday on the 12th Dec , however I get to excited and he caves in and we normally put ours up the weekend before the 12th.

Last year we put it up the first weekend in December, but then it felt less exciting as the month went on. This year I think we will do it on or around the 15th.

AutumnGlitterBall · 02/09/2018 13:22

Within the first week of December. Depends when my days off fall. It takes me so long to arrange it that I want it up for as long as possible!

SocialPiranha · 02/09/2018 13:26

We put ours up first weekend in December. When I was with my ex he used to make us put it up 25 November which is just too early!

Me and the kids much prefer the tree to go up when it’s actually December, preferably with a Christmas movie on in the background.

Governoress86 · 02/09/2018 13:31

I couldn't put up our tree in November, that's way to early.
Some people in my area put theirs up in November.

My DD doesn't have any room in room for a small tree so what we did last year was put fairy lights on her wall in the shape of a Xmas tree and then put some tacks in the points if the tree and put some sparkly baubles in them with a star at the top.
That goes up the first weekend in Dec

We put ours up on the evening of November 30, so it’s ready for the advent calendars starting. I take it down on Dec 27 though.

BigRedBoat · 02/09/2018 13:37

First weekend in December usually, it's down before new year though!

Iwasjustabouttosaythat · 02/09/2018 13:38

First weekend of December here too. It’s so much effort with the putting up and taking down (though I love the first half) so I want to maximise my time with the tree. Sorry but November is too early!

Aprilshowersinaugust · 02/09/2018 13:39

The first Sat of December.
Real tree every year as per dgm traditions!

nicebitofquiche · 02/09/2018 13:41

The weekend before Xmas. Even if Xmas falls on a Monday.

Summerisdone · 02/09/2018 13:44

Depending on which weekend DS is at his dad's, I put mine up on either the last weekend of November or the first of December.
I love Christmas, but hate winter, and the longer I get to enjoy everything Christmas, the easier I find adjusting to the constant dark dreary days of early winter.

MinisterforCheekyFuckery · 02/09/2018 14:20

We put ours up the first weekend in December as DD likes it to be up for her birthday.

Alanamackree · 02/09/2018 14:38

First weekend in December here too, and that was holding out against the dc who didn’t understand why the shops could have their decs up in October and we couldn’t Hmm

My own preference would be to observe advent, and then decorate close to Christmas Eve and celebrate the 12 14 actually days of Christmas and take it down on the epiphany like when I was young.

I think that the huge build up to Christmas takes away from the lovely days afterwards. But I’ll probably let the dc decide

NewtScamandersNaughtyNiffler · 02/09/2018 14:45

After the dc break up from school. Sometimes the day after. Sometimes a couple of days after. Depends how close to Christmas it is/when I'm off work
DP would put it up in July earlier if he could but we'd already established our traditions when he moved in.
I'd leave it until Christmas Eve if I could but ex and I compromised when he lived here. (He also wanted it up early because apparently the 12 days of Christmas start 12 days before and end 12 days after Confused)

NonJeNeRegretteRien · 02/09/2018 14:55

1st Dec.... No deviation... I can’t wait!

Whatsthisbear · 02/09/2018 14:57

Up around the 14th Dec down on the 6th Jan

WeeM · 02/09/2018 14:58

First weekend in dec usually. I used to do it 12 days before but it takes me so long to do it all I want to make the most of it!

Sunshineintheclouds · 02/09/2018 15:01

First weekend of December , which happens to be the 1st this year Grin
Then it goes down New Year's Day.
I like the whole of December month with our decs up.

Governoress86 · 02/09/2018 15:18

If I had my way I would put ours up 1st of Dec but DP says that is too early, he likes the 12th but we compromise and do the weekend before his birthday.

Christmas Eve (German tradition).

TeenTimesTwo · 02/09/2018 15:25

Last day of school term. Then keep it up until the last day of school holidays.

I can't cope with the busy-ness of a decorated living room and school routine, homework etc.

Though our outside lights go on when the town lights are switched on, normally the 3rd weekend of November.

happymummy12345 · 02/09/2018 15:26

Always the first weekend in December

fontofnoknowledge · 02/09/2018 16:45

The first Saturday after everyone has broken up from school/uni and also available to do it. It's a whole family job.

Usually about 20th December.
Always down after 12th night.

BarryTheKestrel · 02/09/2018 16:50

Up first weekend in December. Down first child free day off after boxing day (usually 2nd/3rd Jan).

5krunning · 02/09/2018 16:53

First weekend of December here too

IMissGin · 02/09/2018 16:55

The first Saturday on/after the first. So this year, the 1st!
