I'm just wondering when everyone puts up their trees.

My DP likes to put ours up on his birthday on the 12th Dec , however I get to excited and he caves in and we normally put ours up the weekend before the 12th.

I have a toddler, so as soon as December hits, I put it up the first minute I get that she's not home.
I love her to come home to my he house fully decorated and I go all out.
We're taking Santa bath mats, fleecy blanket s and bedding.
Matalan have a Santa shower curtain this year, I'm happy Smile

1st December here, which I think falls on a Saturday this year...having said that, it's easier to get the tree and decorations up when the DC are at school, so I might do it on the 3rd instead, we'll see! My tree comes down on the 2nd Jan.

Ah - the age old question of when is acceptable to put the tree up.

I’m Xmas mad - ours main tree and decorations go after Bonfire night but I’ve been known to have a few smaller trees dotted about ON Bonfire night when we normally have a few family round and have something to eat then let a few rockets off.

I can’t see any problem if people want to put trees and decorations up early. I wait all year for the Xmas season and I like it to last as long as possible!

I like the idea of the Santa shower curtain 🙂.

First weekend of December here .

NonaGrey · 02/09/2018 17:08

I think it’s very odd to put your tree up really early in December but then take it down immediately after Christmas Day, well before 12th night. Why not just wait a bit and have it up the whole festive season?

Pre children we put it up the Saturday before Christmas. Since having the D.C. it usually goes up around 16th/17th. Doesn’t come down until 12th night.

PurplePrune · 02/09/2018 17:13

We put the decorations up on the first weekend of December. Sometimes we take it down just before New Year (so the house is decluttered and clean to welcome in the New Year!) and sometimes we wait until around the 2nd January.

AornisHades · 02/09/2018 17:18

Saturday before Xmas usually although we have done it the week before if it's only a couple of days before. Stays up until Twelfth Night.

golddustwomen · 02/09/2018 17:20

First weekend of December, back down on the 27th though!! I can't sort the 10000s of new toys whilst it's up!

CraftyGin · 02/09/2018 17:21

No earlier than the 18th.

sprinklesandsauce · 02/09/2018 17:23

It used to be the week before Christmas, but now I put it up 2 weeks before, and leave it up until 12th Night.

Can't understand people who put it up in November and whip it down on Boxing Day when it is actually still Christmas.

stargirl1701 · 02/09/2018 17:26

Christmas Eve.

It still looks green, isn't shedding and smells lovely until it's taken down on Twelfth Night.

motortroll · 02/09/2018 17:28

I have 2 kids born on 6th and 8th December so we do it that week!!

IthinkIsawahairbrushbackthere · 02/09/2018 17:32

Before we had children it was Christmas Eve. Then our oldest was born the week before Christmas and my husband decorated the living room before I brought the baby home. After that we would decorate the day after his birthday to keep it separate from Christmas.

Then as the family grew and they all got busier it tended to be the first chance we got when there were enough interested people at home to do it - any time after the 10th. And it comes down on the 6th.

stressedtiredbuthappy · 02/09/2018 17:32

Governess, last year they had a Santa shower puff!!! What will they have next year????

JustLurkingAway · 02/09/2018 17:34

Mid November, take it down probably New Years Day.

LemonysSnicket · 02/09/2018 17:40

December 12th or later usually

obviouslyperfect · 02/09/2018 17:41

Christmas Eve!

I think we are the only ones in the country doing it then!

obviouslyperfect · 02/09/2018 17:42

Oooh, spotted a fellow Christmas Eve-r!

LemonysSnicket · 02/09/2018 17:44

Although I might move it up earlier this year as I'm spending 10 days up north with family

Happyhippy45 · 02/09/2018 17:49

It goes up soon as I've taken all the Halloween decorations down. They go up last week in September. Hmm [santa]

MsAdorabelleDearheartVonLipwig · 02/09/2018 18:01

Ooh I like the idea of the 30th November so it’s there for 1st December. Might pinch that.

I have a dresser full of Christmas crockery to put out too.

NoWordForFluffy · 02/09/2018 18:06

Up on the closest Saturday to 1st Dec then taken down on New Year's Day, so it's out of the way before I go back to work and can't face it!

Santaclarita · 02/09/2018 18:26

First weekend in December.

I don't even have a tree yet though! Never needed one as I spend Christmas with my family usually so don't bother. Think I need to start looking for one (I prefer fake trees).

CherryPavlova · 02/09/2018 18:30

The weekend before Christmas. Christmas Eve would be too much of a rush after work.
