Ibelieve I’ve bought the hatchimals advent calendar for DD (aged 5.5). She was desperate for it. Looking at the photos of what the contents are I think it all looks quite good and things she will actually play with for quite some time (so I didn’t mind the price too much). We’ve done lots of playmobil ones as i’ve always got them half price in past years but only 4 or 5 days’ pieces get used frequently. All the trees etc get forgotten!

FilthyforFirth · 06/09/2018 20:20

My first contribution! I noticed on instagram that Disney have a 50% sale on at the moment. Sorry, I dont know how to do short links...

bananasandwicheseveryday My dd will be six months at Christmas. She's getting a Christmas tree ornament for the playroom tree, some Holztiger animals (ds is 3 years old and he still loves them so they are both getting some), socks&tights, some nice bowls/cutlery/plates/mug for weaning (I got a lovely bamboo set from Aldi), a "That's not my ...." book plus a "family" photo book (which has a photograph of everyone in our family including grandparents/aunts&uncles/cousins on one page and then their name/relationship to her on the other).

Singingitoverandoverandover · 06/09/2018 21:08

@bananasandwicheseveryday
here are some stocking toys from Smyths, some multipacks can be opened and will give lots of toys like the bath set etc.

Not on the high street have some gorgeous things. Like this personalised my first xmas book, which has the name you choose In the actual story and looks so nice.
They also have these lovely personalised first wooden blocks for £5

Other ideas would be Sophie giraffe teether, booties, first slippers (John Lewis have some peter rabbit ones 😊 ), winter hat, flash cards, little characters from mothercare happy land or fisher price little people range?. New supply cups, cutlery set (all these hints you can buy personalised through Etsy or not on the high street if you don’t mind the price)

You could also if buying a main gift of a toot toot vtech set , add different vehicles etc from it into stocking etc.

Oh and Ikea have lovely wooden cars and people that come apart and build back up that are a great stocking size.

My site is playing up and I can’t see user names for some reason! But thank you to pp who mentioned rex London sale - I knew dot com gift shop had changed names but I couldn’t remember what to!

And what a fab Harry Potter haul someone else had (again sorry for not tagging names!) at a great price - I hope my primark have some reduced hp things but I’m never lucky! Also noticed online that primark are doing some friends merchandise and as it’s dds favourite show I was hoping to grab a couple of bits too.

Stocking for 6 month old - as stocking are my favourite part of Christmas I could fill them til the cows come home Grin as 6 months will be close to weaning age, perhaps little weaning pots/spoons, bibs, cups, squeeze pouches etc. Bath toys/bubble bath as pps have said are fab. What else.. Um...small cuddly toys, socks, board books, toothbrush, wooden teethers, dummies (if used), finger puppets - plus clothes roll up small at that age too!

vroc81 · 06/09/2018 21:15

Stacking cups! @bananasandsandwicheseveryday ... £3.50 or something in Sainsbury’s (or less on their toy sale weekend) and they have been played with soo much! They’ve travelled, they’ve gone in the bath they’ve had things in and out of.. best present we bought her that first Christmas..

Catanddogmake6 · 06/09/2018 21:21

bananasandwiches most of my suggestions have been already mentioned but can I suggest getting 2 of the same stocking. When GC is bigger it is so much easier to swap over stockings having prefilled one rather than have to tiptoe around and try and fill it up without waking anyone.

flubbadubble · 06/09/2018 21:29

Does anyone remember the website the cardboard fire engine was on last year/year before? I hope I'm not imagining that. DD has had a couple of the cardboard things from Hobbycraft which were great but has been pretending to drive everywhere recently.

flubbadubble · 06/09/2018 21:37

Wow how lazy of me Blush Great Little Trading Company first on google!

Pinkyponkcustard · 06/09/2018 22:00

www.character.com/

Just ordered some bargain fireman dam pjs from here - there are loads of different characters and free delivery over £25

StubbleTurnips · 06/09/2018 22:22

As earlier for those looking for schleich - always with looking on
www.toysandlearning.co.uk/sale.php

I got the full stable there a couple of years ago for £40

CaveMum · 06/09/2018 22:38

Thanks for the Schleich tip Stubble! I’ve bookmarked the site.

SpecialK24 · 06/09/2018 22:42

@BanoffeePieIsMyFave that is such a shame that site looked so good last year, wish I ordered stuff then!!

@imsorryiasked he would have loved that helmet but only got him a new one 2 months ago for his scooter.

@nocutsonbuttsnococobuts thank you I've been looking at them today and added to my watch list! I did find a very cool fireman sam convertible toy on eBay paid £16.98 so not a bargain as such but I've never seen one like that before. Xx

Thanks for the home bargain tip will check that out and I brought some pjs from character last month :) (sorry can't find names as on another page) xx

Oh wow I want that Gin calendar but I’m not a member. How much is it?hopefully really expensive so I wouldn’t get it anyway

I bought DH the beer hawk calendar a few years ago from a tip on this thread and it went down well. He’s making noises about having it again this year. I don’t remember it being £70 though? That seems a bit steep?

Iwannasnack · 06/09/2018 23:02

Strike through fail Blush

rosablue · 07/09/2018 00:03

@Iwannasnack Last year costco had a beer advent calender too - was about £35 I seem to remember but I didn't actually buy one.

If you have last year's beer calender box, Aldi sell beers for about £1.25 that sell for £1.60-£2 in Sainsburys so you could refill it - with your dh's favourites and some christmas specials. Just avoid the Old Mulled Hen - I bought a couple for dh last christmas - it's the only bottle of beer that I ever remember dh not bothering to finish. 2nd one is still sitting in the rack - and hasn't been drunk on days when there's been no other beer in the house - he's either gone without or gone to the shop to buy some! DH loves all sorts of beer so for it to still be here is really saying something bad about it.

You can also get Guinness steak sauce and chocolate (both usually available in B&M or at least they are in my local one), there's also beer shampoo and soap around if you wanted to get other beer things to put into the calendar to make it a bit different.

Jammiebammie · 07/09/2018 00:13

Lol bigger surprise available to pre order at smyths here

It’s got 6 layers, 60 surprises, think it’s a much bigger sized doll - £85 though Shock

I’ve pre ordered it —mug— but on collect, so i can cancel without paying if need be (that’s right isn’t it?!) think I jumped the gun though as I’ve pre ordered the Lol house and dd certainly isn’t getting both. Oh and the pop up shop —did I say mug— I can’t believe how much expensive lol doll crap is out for this Xmas!

Jammiebammie · 07/09/2018 00:14

Strike through fail for me too Hmm

OhMyGodTheyKilledKenny · 07/09/2018 06:48

Last year I bought DP a beer advent calendar from Groupon which was £42.99 . They haven't got any on there yet but there will be soon I expect.

DP loved it and I think claimed it was the best present ever!

HoneyDragon · 07/09/2018 06:57

In Costco yesterday the Gin advent was £50.
As a non member you can have it delivered from Costco online but it’s £65.

hoopdeloop · 07/09/2018 07:19

Sainsbury’s did a beer advent calendar last year, not sure of the price because DH was given it as a present

glenthebattleostrich · 07/09/2018 07:22

If anyone near Leeds or Sheffield wants the gin calendar I'm happy to meet them and they can use my card (I can take another person on with me!)

OhMyGodTheyKilledKenny · 07/09/2018 08:14

I've just found this image of last years Groupon beer advent calendar that I mentioned earlier - they were all German beers, came with a glass and it was £42.99.

I seem to remember that they did other ones too but they had sold out by the time I'd got round to ordering so I bought this one which DP said was excellent.

A word of warning though - it was delivered in the box you see here, no extra packaging, so it's pretty obvious what it is when it arrives. Unfortunately DP answered the door to the courier so his surprise was spoilt. If I'd known I would have had it delivered to a friends house.
