Any idea when the Argos 3 for 2 might be? I'm paid up on my Park account and waiting for vouchers to be released imminently. Need to pick up a catalogue to get some ideas for DD aged 3 (by Christmas).

WhirlwindHugs · 06/09/2018 17:55

My magpie order is here 😊

I missed a parcel today and genuinely couldn't work out who from then finally realised it wasn't a Christmas related one!

margaritasbythesea · 06/09/2018 18:01

Drummingisfun - thinner preferably as they are easier to sleep in but more important is that it doesn't have a hood as he hates sleeping in those.

IBelieveInPink · 06/09/2018 18:05

Any feedback on the Hatchimals advent calendar? This is the first year dd has really been into something enough to get a toy one... is this one any good? And do I really have to fork out £25 for it?

Tildero · 06/09/2018 18:32

Sylvanian families and shopkins in clearance in Tk maxx.

LexieLulu · 06/09/2018 18:34

Found a sale on the dot com gift shop (now called Rex London).

They are like cath kidston style and sell lovely things. Lots of fairy lights too (I'm going to get my DD some bunny lights)

Hi, I know this isn't strictly the purpose of the thread, but I wonder if any of you can help?
Dh and I became first time grandparents this year and I would like to get a head start on Christmas presents for our beautiful gc. He will be almost six months old at Christmas, so it's quite hard to find 'stocking filler' type gifts as do many toys are aimed at older children. We already have his main gift and will pick up a few other items between now and Christmas, but it is the stocking gifts that are the problem. Our ds and DIL are very relaxed about gifts from us and DILs family - whenever we run an idea by them and ask if they have any objection to us buying, their attitude is 'why would we ?' I will be making a stocking for him, just as I did got our own dcs and would love to have some bits to put in it - in future it will be ds and DIL filling it as the stocking will go home with them once we've given it to him this year. Any ideas will be very gratefully received.

CarrotVan · 06/09/2018 19:03

You could give him a Noah’s Ark and then send him animals every month

Babipur, Babame or Yes Bebe do lovely wooden animals - we have quite a lot of Holztiger and some bits of Ostheimer. For little ones Lanka Kade are nice and chunky

Pebblesandfriends · 06/09/2018 19:03

Thank you Tildero!

Bananas and whiches what about a sensory ball and tiny hide and squeak eggs (both mine got years of fun out of those)

WreckTangled · 06/09/2018 19:07

bananas have a look at big jiggs wooden toys specifically the maracas they were a big hit with my dc. Also the jelly cat boing ball (avoid amazon and search via google as much more expensive on amazon)

MorbidMuch · 06/09/2018 19:10

My son gets a decoration for the Christmas tree from Father Christmas in his stocking every year, which he loves, starting from his first Christmas. They get packed away in a separate bag and he loves getting them out each December. Something like that might be good for your GC stocking?

Also, small books like the Mr Men Christmas one and Winnie the Pooh Christmas are good.

WreckTangled · 06/09/2018 19:12

Oh yes my mil always gets the dc a new decoration. It's so lovely.

imsorryiasked · 06/09/2018 19:14

Small bath toys are always good.

bananasandwicheseveryday · 06/09/2018 19:18

Thank you so much for the speedy replies!

@CarrotVan I love the idea of a Noah's ark - we actually still have a beautiful wooden one, complete with animals etc, which was made for ds and the plan (with ds and DILs agreement) is that we will pass that on nearer to his first birthday.

@Pebblesandfriends we in ludrd a sensory ball in his welcome gift, but I very much like the sound of the eggs and will definitely have a look for them - is there a particular brand to look for?

@WreckTangled thank you - I am a huge fan of wooden toys for babies and very young children so will definitely search those out.

I can't wait for Christmas this year! 😁

LexieLulu · 06/09/2018 19:21

@bananasandwicheseveryday a tradition I started with both my kids is a Christmas decoration a year. I write the year I purchased it on the bottom and get quite a nice decoration. In the hope that when they are 18 they will have a little set of precious decorations.

Also my both my Children’s first bears were from a brand called jellycat. My kids are now 4 and 2 and these bears have become their bedtime bears as they are so soft, they will not sleep without them. So I would recommend those as gifts

bananasandwicheseveryday · 06/09/2018 19:23

Definitely yes to the tree decoration - we bought one during the summer, something quite unusual and personalised with his name ( not a common name, so anything with his name has to be personalised just for him). I like the idea of bath toys - he already lives his bath, so that is a great idea. Books will definitely be on the line - we are quite a 'booky' family.

Thank you all - wonderful ideas.

Pebblesandfriends · 06/09/2018 19:25

Tomy ( not tiny as my post said Grin)

HoneyDragon · 06/09/2018 19:34

ItsOnly Thank you so so so much for mentioning the gin advent. Went straight up and got on for gin loving relatives from the states to take home. It’s really nice and they’ll get real pleasure from it.

ElephantCostumeGirl · 06/09/2018 19:44

If you're on O2 Priority then they have a full size liquid liner + mini mascara for £5. Good for a stocking for a teen or part of a beauty hamper.

sleepismysuperpower1 · 06/09/2018 19:45

you could always fill something like this www.etsy.com/uk/listing/548372146/advent-calendar-wooden-advent-calendar?ga_order=most_relevant&ga_search_type=all&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_search_query=wooden%20advent%20calendar&ref=sr_gallery-1-20 with little toys (small playmobil figures, chocolate, tiny my little ponies, little bracelets etc. the calendar is pricey at 1st, but if you reuse it over the years, you get your value for money. one benefit of doing this is that the dcs get the best of both worlds, chocolate and toys. also, if they have a favorite choc then you can put that in.

ADuckNamedSplash · 06/09/2018 19:54

Wrist rattles and / or foot finders would be good for that age and stocking sized.

A '1st Christmas' bib?

ADuckNamedSplash · 06/09/2018 19:54

Bit of a random one, but Tesco have Dr Oetker food colouring gels at 2 for £1 at the moment (normally £1.35 each) - could be a good stocking filler for a baker?

Notlongnow1 · 06/09/2018 20:01

@bananasandwicheseveryday my lo will be 5 months and will have a couple of bits for weaning (maybe check how they intend to wean - we will do baby led weaning so a plate that sticks to high chair tray), a 360 cup to start practicing using a cup with meals, a teething toy, a few sensory bits... will think of more I'm sure!

Notlongnow1 · 06/09/2018 20:05

And this! But it's about half that on HOF website (currently down :( ) or they have just a spoon. My son has them for his year of birth and they are lovely quality.
