Not sure if it was mentioned before but I got Lego minifigures series 18 in Sainsbury's for £1.50.
I'm hoping my Tesco has that £10 playmobil bus Shock

Rockhopper81 · 09/09/2018 03:51

@OhHolyFuck

That would’ve been ideal (I admit to seeing ‘gamer’ and dismissing it initially - I’m not proud of that, I just don’t tend to register gaming things Blush).

It’s back at £7.49 now, but I’ll set a price alert for it - thank you! Smile

Reastie · 09/09/2018 07:15

I’m thinking of getting an Alexa mainly for a specific radio station I listen to that isn’t on dab but I can listen to via Alexa (and it’s cheaper than buying an internet radio and does a lot more). I know dd would have great fun with it! So I’ve heard the smaller one (dot?) has rubbish speakers but that’s really all the difference between the two (echo and dot). How rubbish are the speakers?

SymphonyofShadows · 09/09/2018 07:39

Youngest DS (12) has the Dot in his room. The speaker isn't great but good enough for him to listen to whatever he wants. I also have an Echo Show (bought half price) and DS1 has one too. He has ASD and is now trying semi-independent living. The Echos mean we can all speak face to face whenever he needs. The speaker in that is a lot more powerful and it plays Prime movies etc.

implantsandaDyson · 09/09/2018 07:41

Reastie we got a dot for our 10 year old last Christmas and I and more importantly her Grin have no issue at all with the sound volume or quality from the speakers and that's mainly what she uses it for (listening to music), that and asking it seemingly impossible maths questions!

ja9r · 09/09/2018 08:26

Sorry quick Christmas Q.... what's that wee rhyme MNers use for Santa presents...something like

Something I want, something I need, something to wear, something to read...

Or is that just it? Want to streamline a bit this year...

ValiumQueen · 09/09/2018 08:38

I tried want, need, wear, read and ended up looking like a mean Mummy as relatives got 50 billion pieces of plastic shite.

The Book People have an offer for today only:

£8 off a £40 spend
£5 off a £30 spend

Code PARTY40

SockEatingMonster · 09/09/2018 08:41

Just saw on another thread that Amazon will let you pay for some of the Echo dots and Kindles in interest-free monthly instalments, if that helps anyone?

SockEatingMonster · 09/09/2018 08:42

Does anyone know if Book People ever so free delivery on £10? I have 2 books I want, but am trying very hard not to buy any more!

BoBro · 09/09/2018 08:56

We got Echo dots for the older two kids and also grandparents last Christmas - for some big purchases we used a Very discount and then did 'take 3' to spread the cost over 3 months.

BoBro · 09/09/2018 08:56

We used the discount when they were £35, so they ended up costing around £30 each.

BoBro · 09/09/2018 09:00

The speakers are absolutely fine for what my dc use the dot for - listening to music and the radio - sound quality is perfect and volume perfect for what we require.
We have a larger Alexa too and I think the only difference might be that it will go louder?

TalkingOrmer · 09/09/2018 09:05

@ja9r this is one I use.

gaggiagirl · 09/09/2018 09:09

We have an upstairs dot and a downstairs dot.
DD who is 7 has asked for a dot for her room so she can play music, ask it daft questions, add to my shopping list and voice operate her hue lights.
We have a small house and find the speakers to be fine.

Boffered1 · 09/09/2018 09:25

M and Co have 25% off and free delivery at the moment. They have some nice pj's for teens including Harry Potter ones.

WoahBodyforrrrm · 09/09/2018 09:27

I recently bought an Echo Show and would highly recommend it. The kids love adding songs to our kitchen disco playlist 💃🏼. I got it for just over £100 on offer from QVC but it does drop from time to time on Amazon too. I’m thinking of getting a couple of dots for the kids rooms too when they go on offer 🤔.

ja9r · 09/09/2018 09:35

@TalkingOrmer Thank you!

NotPennysBoat · 09/09/2018 09:54

Thanks so much for all the Echo Dot advice, I'm sold! Just need to wait for that drop in price now, so please shout if you see it!

Reastie · 09/09/2018 10:02

One more question about Alexa (sorry). If I have prime will it play music? How limited is the music it’ll play? Without paying for Spotify is there a way to get more?

whatwillicallmyself · 09/09/2018 10:04

thaegumathteth Thanks a million for link re Alexa very interesting.

mycatislickingherpaw · 09/09/2018 10:07

Reastie I don’t have Spotify or unlimited and I hear most of what I want. Every so often Alexa will tell me that I can’t hear a song, but it’s 1 every hundred if at all.

Reastie · 09/09/2018 10:07

good price on little mermaid lego

Reastie · 09/09/2018 10:08

I’m sold! I’ve got a camelcamelcamel alert for £35 on the dot
