We have tried out loads of bikes at a bike club and it was the only one that fit him properly and he could actually manage to pedal. If we buy a cheap bike, it will weigh almost as much as him, and we'll be cycling to school from September so he needs to be confident on it.

Islabikes are absolutely fantastic, and well worth getting. Are you sure you have the right numbers though bored? At 4 years old, I'd expect him to need either a Cnoc16 at £290 new or a Cnoc20 at £330 new. £270 second hand seems high.

As for your dilemma, I think you need to make a judgement call on a) how chilled vs persuadable he is and b) whether it was a strong preference or just saying something because he was asked.

He's going to love the bike anyway!!
