As soon as you get them, or last thing on Christmas Eve? or somewhere in between?

I did a big shop in November and wrapped everything I bought then. This morning I wrapped everything else. I still have a few presents to buy so I will wrap them on Friday and I will be done. We have a toy kitchen to build on Christmas Eve so I don't want to be wrapping as well as that.

Arrowfanatic · 21/12/2016 13:05

I used to wrap Xmas eve with champagne and a movie. One year I wrapped early and I'm glad I did as I ran out of paper Xmas Shock so now I always wrap early to be sure. So I did mine last week whilst the kids were at school.

Christmas Eve daytime for me. My DS will be at his Dad's and I have to wait in for a parcel to be redelivered so I figure wrapping presents is as good a way as any to fill the time. A Christmas film and the pressure of having to get them done should see me through.

ChristmasTreeCat · 21/12/2016 13:10

Flumps the image of your dd opening the same doll twice while dh crouches madly behind the sofa just made me spit tea out! 😂😂

I wrap over a few days. Just have a couple left to do on Christmas Eve as I can't get to them in the cupboard until the others are out now! I have pink fizz saved specially for the occasion Grin

Flumpsnlumpsnstuff · 21/12/2016 13:31

Now it is a great memory Grin but believe me at the time I wanted to cry and hungover dh didn't help with his death throes moaning behind the sofa ! I do remember being very quick to explain 1 dolly was broken and had to go back and that was why santa had brought 2, to a very puzzled 4year old who wants to play twins with her 2 dollies Confused

Randytortoise · 21/12/2016 13:31

This thread is fantastic! It's given me the kick up the bum I needed to wrap dh's stocking stuff. I'm now all done and I wasn't laughed at this year so a lot less swearing ! Xmas Grin

GizmoFrisby · 21/12/2016 13:35

As I buy. I decided I would do it all on Christmas Eve last year. 2 bottles of prosecco later and 1.50am I had just finished wrapping. Never again

JingleBellCock · 21/12/2016 13:46

Usually me and DH warp together with a few glasses of Wine on Xmas Eve. Breaking with tradition this year, and I am going to wrap the lot on Friday daytime while DH takes the DC out for the day. I want to chill on Xmas Eve this year.

EggnoggAndMulledWine · 21/12/2016 13:50

I did two of my children's this morning when youngest was at nursery, will do other people's tonight and do the eldests tomorrow morning.

Disraeli · 21/12/2016 13:55

I just do bits and pieces as I go along. I got the biggest child to help me wrap the gifts I'd got from him and his siblings to DH. He then proceeded to tell DH what the gifts were. So he's not helping any more. Whenever I get an hour alone (just me and the Baileys) I've been doing a bit.

Mol1628 · 21/12/2016 13:56

About a week before. Usually take a couple of nights.

Couldn't stand doing it Christmas Eve. If I run out of something or something gets broken I like to have time to sort it out.

Mol1628 · 21/12/2016 13:56

Plus I like to chill out on Christmas Eve and watch a film. I don't enjoy wrapping.

LadyBaelish · 21/12/2016 14:06

I did mine on Monday and Tuesday while DC were at school. Bloody hate wrapping so I break it into chunks over a couple of days instead of having to do it all in one go! LadyOfTheCanyon's 'like a windmill of sellotape and swearing' is very accurate Grin

WaitrosePigeon · 21/12/2016 14:08

Do a bit every few days. I'm up to date at the moment as did a mammoth session last night. Got a few more things to buy and wrap today.

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 21/12/2016 14:10

I plan to wrap over a few evenings in early December with mulled wine and a festive film and a warm Christmassy glow.

In reality I wrap at the last minute in a Christmas grump while drinking coffee. The DC have helped wrap some presents as we go which is a blur of sticky tape and over excitement.

bumblingbovine49 · 21/12/2016 14:11

I do it when I can really but usually over 2-3 separate days
I don't understand the people who say they wrap on Christmas Eve . It is too much to do in one evening. I spent 2 hours on Saturday afternoon wrapping presents and then again from 7pm to 9m and I am still only half done!

MrsTeller · 21/12/2016 14:43

This year I wrapped as I bought, this will now be my standard approach much less stressful.

insan1tyscartching · 21/12/2016 14:43

Usually in a mad panic on Christmas Eve but I am currently doing an hour or two a day this week (hopefully I will stick to it anyway) I hate the job and I do my sons' wrapping too.

AmeliaPeabody · 21/12/2016 14:48

I've done it on Christmas Eve for I think the last couple of years. It does take the fun out of it having to do so much at once and at last minute. This year I did some a couple of weeks ago and plan do more later this evening.

FeckinCrutches · 21/12/2016 14:49

No way I'd leave it till Christmas Eve! Kids dick around till stupid o clock. It took me and my mum 3 hours to wrap all the kids presents last week!

Musicinthe00ssucks · 21/12/2016 14:52

When I get the time! I've been trying to do it in stints but I'm rubbish at it and can only stand to do a bit at a time Wine

Caroian · 21/12/2016 14:57

No way could I do it as I go along! I like wrapping, but only if I'm doing a "wrapping session". Wrapping one or two things at a time would be soul destroying. Plus doing it all in one or two big sessions always makes me feel properly Christmassy - for that reason my sessions need to be fairly close to Christmas.

I'll be doing the bulk tonight. My husband is out, so it will be me, the newly purchased Baileys, a Christmas movie and multiple rolls of wrapping paper!

anyoldname76 · 21/12/2016 15:02

i did most of the wrapping last week over a few nights, i do have a bag full of stocking fillers left to wrap which I'll do tonight, i have wrapped on Christmas eve before which i didnt enjoy as all i wanted to do was watch films and drink mulled wine Grin

mamatiger83 · 21/12/2016 15:12

Usually xmas eve but this year I'm already wrapped with the exception of last minute bits I'm surely I'll remember I need to buy over the next few days!!!!

Tootsieglitterballs · 21/12/2016 15:15

When I know I've finished buying for each person, I then wrap that person. Hubby has been wrapped today, toddler wrapped last week.

If I wrap as I go I loose track of what I've got!
