RJ is that the stage door at the theatre they shut down for a few years and is currently showing Beauty and the Beast? I suspect you live in the next town to me Smile

YaMasYaDaWithAWigOn · 13/12/2014 14:21

meer we always get balloons for birthdays from Asda, they are 3 for £5 and stay inflated for bloody ages!! DS2's ones from April lasted a month before they started drooping. Not sure if they have Christmas designs but they do star shaped ones and some character designs, you could get them around the 23rd/24th and they should still be ok for Christmas Day.

RJnomore · 13/12/2014 14:35

Yes Neeko that's the one! I'm just back from the cattle market with a lovely tree.

Asda have what looks like paper/card frozen ice palace with all the characters, furniture erc for £16. It's a biggish box and would be a lovely present. I'll see if I can find it online.

Imperial · 13/12/2014 16:01

Bagatelle board for the family gift - we love ours as does everyone of all ages who comes over

TenMinutesEarly · 13/12/2014 16:27

Sorry just to clarify ds (reception) is a seed. He was partnered with a year 6 girl who is his gardener. The aim is for the gardeners to nurture the seeds to help them grow. Most schools seem to have this system locally so I thought it was a widespread thing. My ds adores his gardener and goes to school early every morning to see her on the way in. She is fab.

Anyway back to the bargains. Personalised monopoly around £6 on argos. Just reserved one for my secret Santa gift then I am done. Xmas Grin

Prizepudding · 13/12/2014 16:28

I got a helium balloon from asda in September for my dd1s birthday and it was still on the go for dd2s birthday in October so I think getting one a couple of days before christmas would be fine. Poundland also sell small character shaped helium balloons on sticks.

WildFlowersAttractBees · 13/12/2014 16:57

Hoorah for the cattle market. My Dsis raves about the stage door, really must try it (ignoring the fact my last post was on the weight loss thread!).
I just wrapped all our gifts to give away... It took me six hours!!!

WildFlowersAttractBees · 13/12/2014 16:59

Oh neeko, another local!!!

Elvish · 13/12/2014 17:02

The balloons on sticks aren't usually helium, they are just air. I found one still inflated and looking like new in a toy box recently, I bought it for DD before DS was born - he's nearly 2!

cookiefiend · 13/12/2014 17:13

About 4000 threads ago I am sure someone was struggling to get an Olaf costume. Mataram have them for £10 With code OLAFSAVE6 if anyone still needs one. I confess I haven't seen frozen, but DD is only one.

There are 40 kindle books for £1 on the Amazon home page elvish and 12 years a slave was about 50p the other day. If you look at top selling kindle books there is a way to filter for free ones, I will try and link later. Also loads of the classics are available free if you look the up- depends what FIL is into. I downloaded loads of stuff like Dickens when I got mine, but who am I kidding!

dobby2001 · 13/12/2014 17:16

Lureene
Thanks for the heads up about the charity gifts. I was going through this thread trying to think of budget gifts for some awkward family members.

I have now bought 4 gifts from Oxfam Smile

I know some folk dont like charity gifts, but I would rather donate on their behalf, than buy more unwatned toiletries/tat.

Thanks again

WUME · 13/12/2014 17:18

I really need a cheap batman figure.

Please help.

All the ones I can find that aren't tiny are expensive Shock

RayBloodyPurchase · 13/12/2014 17:22

Try The Entertainer WUME, but go in the store - they always have superhero figures madly reduced.

Ainmnua · 13/12/2014 17:49

That sounds lovely TenMinutes.

Neeko · 13/12/2014 18:53

How weird Wildflowers and RJ that there are there of us from our wee neck of the woods on this thread Smile.

Not a Christmas bargain but we just had the M&S rump steak from the dine in for two for DH's birthday and is highly recommend it.

missmakesstuff · 13/12/2014 19:01

tenminutes you've just saved my bacon! I have been racking my brains tryingbtthink of a present for my two sets of aunts and uncles, on of whom thoughtful a bar of bournville last year Hmm but didn't want to spend lots as I give my younger cousins money. Monopoly is perfect! Thanks!
I am pretty much there but vomiting bug this week for all of us has set me back no end. Dd has now asked for a ninja turtle. She's 4 And as far as I know doesn't even know what they look like!

missmakesstuff · 13/12/2014 19:02

One of whom bought us a bar of Bournville I meant....

margaritasroastingbyanopenfire · 13/12/2014 19:09

Dirtydancer · 13/12/2014 19:33

Looking for some help/inspiration please. I have 2 babies in nursery but in different rooms. They each have a key worker but spend a lot of time with other staff they seem to really like too. I was just going to hand in a big tub of chocs for all of the staff so I didn't miss any out. I'm now thinking I should get their key workers something each too, although I'd feel bad for the others. One is an older lady and one is a young one, early twenties if that. Any advice? It needs to be very cheap!

eastmidswarwicknightnanny · 13/12/2014 19:41

I always brought the nursery keyworker a small gift n a box biscuits for room apart from his last yr in pre school room as networked was shite and rest staff were not much better.

I brought bath bombs usually and then a bottle sparkling wine n nice chocs for keyworker when he moved rooms and some cakes from bakery for the room as at Xmas he had been in each new room 2 mths but when changed rooms was 11-15mths in a room.
