People using the O2 priority moments deals - do any of you have the most basic pay as you go type phone that you just top up occasionally rather than a payg with a recurring payment that goes out but without a contract or an actual contract?

Ds1 left our basic family phone in his jeans pocket and didn't rediscover until he put them on again - after they had been through the wash and the tumble drier Sad. So we're in the market again for a family phone (basic nokkia/samsung 99p thing from emobiles!) and thought I'd go for one on 02 if I can get the priority moment stuff from it!

As a complete diversion, does anyone else find it bonkers that it's possible to buy a proper, working phone that has a battery life of over a month between charges (ok so I need to put a tenner credit on it but still) for 99p and yet it would cost so much more to get a toy phone that did little more than make random beeps when the buttons are pressed... Reason no.59 that the world is going bonkers.

And back to bargain hunting - normal service is resumed!

nocutsnobuttsnococonuts · 16/12/2014 23:37

the o2 moments u need to be able to connect to the Internet to show them the code so not sure if it will work on the basic ones.

ChocolateWombat · 17/12/2014 07:27

Look at Talktalk mobile. They do a £3.75 per month sim deal. Realise you didn't want a contract, but it would be hard to beat £3.75 per month for 500 mins of calls and unlimited texts. Doesn't matter if you don't have a smart phone and don't use the data allowance.
Otherwise Tesco mobile do a good PAYG deal.

ihatethecold · 17/12/2014 07:42

Don't go with 02 just for priority moments.
They're most expensive than others and the moments are not that good.

Prizepudding · 17/12/2014 08:13

I am on O2 on a basic pay as you go package which includes 500 free texts and 500 mb data for a month after you top up £10. I don't top up every month. When going to collect moments offers in town, I stand outside the 02 shop to get free wifi to download the offer. It costs £1 per day otherwise for internet access when not in a free wifi zone.

RJnomore · 17/12/2014 08:34

Could you download the offers on your wifi at home? Or I have O2 wifi included somehow with my vodafone package is there a way to get it with that?

Prizepudding · 17/12/2014 09:00

Rj, most of the priority offers only give you 15 minutes to claim once downloaded. In edinburgh, the city centre will have free wifi for all soon which will be great.

Not sure about the Vodafone/02 thing but if you download the app and follow the instructions you could find out if you are eligible.

Earlytorise · 17/12/2014 09:43

Does anyone know how to un-apply then re-apply a promotional code at the book people. The webpage is stating that the promotional code I used for free delivery has been applied but it hasn't grrr...

another vote for Reastie

platespinnermum · 17/12/2014 11:51

Just voted for Reastie - it's a landslide victory I reckon!

I haven't contributed many bargains this year (you lot are too quick for me Xmas Smile) but have lurked all the way and had so many great bargains. Have also loved the spirit of the whole thing. So thanks all!

I've finished shopping by the way, but can't step away Xmas Grin

thewomaninwhite · 17/12/2014 11:55

My local Sainsburys had some good bargains in today. Lego Friends Watches for £8. The pink and purple ones plus a Star Wars one and Superman one. I so didn't need to buy them but I did. I 'may' keep back for another time.

Elvish · 17/12/2014 12:13

I've voted too - looks like a landslide for Reastie! In fact I may go back and vote for someone else as they all look a bit sad in comparison to the queen of Christmas!

Cheers Wine Reastie and thanks for all the work on these threads.

GreenEyedMonster14 · 17/12/2014 12:37

Snow glow elsa is back in stock at amazon if anyone is still looking for one.

YoureMyWifeNowDave · 17/12/2014 12:43

My Telegraph beauty boxes arrived today Grin some nice stuff inside but a little disappointed that they don't come in a nice christmassy box!

Another vote for Reastie posted too

LikeSilver · 17/12/2014 13:15

I'm officially done but I'm twitching over:

  • a Minecraft hat (beanie or cap) for DN - if anyone has seen one for less than £10 please let me know!
  • an Olaf beanie baby type toy for DD. She has a more than enough soft toys and I have been deliberately mean and kept Frozen from her until very recently so we didn't end up with a pile of Frozen tat for Christmas, but she does so love Olaf! Any recommendations for a small, soft Olaf toy for her stocking?

Thanks! And, more generally, thank you so much for these threads, I've really enjoyed taking part and have saved a lot of money. Looking forward to a great Christmas as a result. Merry Christmas everyone! Xmas Grin

ipswichwitch · 17/12/2014 13:21

Just voted for reastie, you are massively in the lead! Do you get a prize or anything?

Code VZNC gets you a free box of classics (worth £14) with a spend of £30 or more at Thorntons.

ipswichwitch · 17/12/2014 13:25

Character.com have a 50% sale until Friday 19th

eastmidswarwicknightnanny · 17/12/2014 13:38

Gifts gets free delivery today only on whittard and cashback through quidco

DrankSangriaInThePark · 17/12/2014 13:59

If anyone is still faffing with photo gifts etc, Snapfish are discounting massively and with a good 10% or so cashback.

I managed to get (IIRC) 60% off (which is sitewide on calendars) then for some reason they gave me a £5 off (I got that in an email but linked to my Snapfish account directly so didn't need to put a code, then added the code SFUK354 to get 50% off again.

I went with Snapfish for the remaining things (inc cards) because Photobox (also heavily discounted now) has a wanky website which wouldn't work for me, Snapfish is by far and away the easiest and I am past caring what the quality will be like Grin

sillylily · 17/12/2014 14:04

Thanks cookie. Fitbit bought!

Mum2Pea · 17/12/2014 15:01

Have voted too

thank you for all your hard work this year Reastie!

TheHoundsBitch · 17/12/2014 16:03

I need a Swarovski pen! Has anyone seen one cheaper than £24 + postage? It's my last thing, and it needs to be bargainous as I've run out of money Blush
It's this one, doesn't have to be white though :)

divabroad · 17/12/2014 16:34

Voted Reastie, you deserve it.
